In the Court of the Dragon is the tenth album by metal band Trivium. It's a combination of prog and trash metal. This mix of styles also involves switching between grunting and "normal" singing. The grunting sounds a bit thin. I don't know if it's the singers voice or the production, but that makes it sound a bit weak and not fitting the bombastic music. The songs are ok, though not exceptional and the guitars also sound too clean for me. In summary it is over the top metal that sounds harmless.

Thrash metal, progressive metal, metalcore, heavy metal. Ni fu ni fa.

Not for me.

Not my preferred genre but this had enough of the cheese on top of the dragons to make it somewhat enjoyable.

Pretty Volbeat coded 4-5

I have to say, the epic-operatic metal vocal style gives a whole lot better with the high fantasy theme than the growl-shouting, so it's a shame this leaned rather heavily on the latter. Well it's a prejudice - I am now repeatedly on the record as not liking that particular metal vocalization. Aside from that it was solid progressive metal, though I didn't really key in on the lyrics at all.

Maybe if your a fan of the genre.
