The New Tango
Astor PiazzollaLike being in an elevator for an hour.
Like being in an elevator for an hour.
This has not aged well. The two singles are fine and I won't skip them if they came up in a mix. The rest of the album is weird reminder of what was Edgy in 1999.
I didn't like this. I thought the movie samples were weird. The lyrics were repetitive. I'd ask for this to be turned off if it was on at a BBQ.
I was expecting to skip this. It was better then i was expecting. I'm not into British hip hop, modern hip hop, people with little in their names. This wasn't bad. I'm not sure I'd listen again but i didn't hate it.
Just boring. Nothing was overly terrible but there's not much else to say about it.
giving it a 3 just for the sample
I guess the organ sounded nice
Monday, Monday and Dreamin are great. The rest of the album is just ok.
Over the top 80's rock. I knew a surprising number of songs off this record.
It's fine. but i'm never going to listen to it again. Of the synth pop 80s, there's stuff i enjoy a lot more.
it's not bad or good. it's just background. Like what they playing in lobbies they don't want you to stand around in.
I was expecting to skip this. It was better then i was expecting. I'm not into British hip hop, modern hip hop, people with little in their names. This wasn't bad. I'm not sure I'd listen again but i didn't hate it.
Has generic Beatles sound. It's ok but i'm not sure why it made this big list.
Love this album. Already owned it.
I remembered really liking this album when it came out. There was a lot of talk of the "softer" Hole and about Billy Corgan writing on the album. Revisiting it now I'm less impressed by it. I'd say the singles hold up but the rest of the album is so so.
Not my thing.
It's hard for me on this one to separate the art from the artist. It just seems like a long album of self indulgent narcissistic ramblings.
An easy listen. Not sure if it will go into heavy rotation.
One of the best records I took from my parents. I have no idea how many times I listened to this growing up.
Very bland. I had problems getting used to the singers voice.
They seem like the generic version of Metallica. Album was ok but no real stand outs. It was like they were following a script on how to make Metal.
More Kinks sounding like the Beatles. Not bad
Wasn't super familiar with this album, but it's Tom Petty. It's great.
I really dug this album. a little slow in parts. The single A Forest is a favorite of mine.
Fuck Tom Waits!
More Kinks sounding like the Kinks sounding like the beatles.
Some intense prog noodling
Sounds like an album I should have already listened to. Very enjoyable
kind of bland. Huge start with Imagine and then lots of filler.
I was expecting more Big Beat era dance music but it was very chill. Maybe too chill for me.
interesting, less pop then the other albums of hers i've listened to
This is not the Nick Cave i was looking for. completely skippable
It's like a "best of" for all those 60's girl groups. The "Wall of Sound" over production got to be a little annoying by the end.
I already owned this one. Love this era of Costello. His first 3 albums are true classics.
I like the dance stuff more then the atmospheric stuff. Kind of a background record.
Wasn't sure what I was expecting post Velvet Underground. Just a straight forward rock record.
Own the album. Own the shirt. Totally my thing
This album surprised me. I really liked it and wish he had lived to make a second album.
This is like a 2 1/2. I'm putting at a 3 just for Dancing Queen. It was all too much, but in small doses very enjoyable.
meh.... Come on Eileen is great though
Just didn't connect with it. All filler, no killer.
This is one I had listened to before. It scratches that Tom Petty itch for me.
A classic. I don't know how many times I've had conversations about this album or the music video for Closer.
The first song is great. The rest is very forgettable.
This is a long record that has not aged well. Nothing stood out to me but the gay slurs.
An easy listen. I knew a lot of the song (or covers of the songs). It's not going into heavy rotation.
It was ok. Not my thing.
Own it. Listened to it a lot. Set the tone for the next decade in a lot of ways. For better or worse the 2000s rock/rap thing won't have happened with out this record.
This is fine. It was fine when I listened to it in 1994. Never understood the massive hype around this band.
Great, but not as great as some of their later albums.
All speed. All energy. A great way to start the day.
Good energy. Not sure if i'd listen to it again. Between a 3 and a 4 for me.
I knew Fast Car and liked it. She's got a good voice and good lyrics, but this is a heavy record for a cold Friday. Not sure how to place it.
This is obviously not meant for me, but Hounds of Love and Running up that Hill are great songs. The rest of the album is good if a little too theatrical.
Been listening to this since high school. Excellent.
I could have died without listening to this.
a by the numbers rock album. Fine but not something i'd just put on
There's so much baggage that comes with MJ now. These are catchy pop songs but all i can think about is what he became.
I guess i've mellowed to Bob Dylan. Was much better then i was expecting.
Not really my thing. After i got through the songs I knew, it was a real slog.
Guitar 5, Lyrics 2.
Not my preferred flavor of synth-pop, but not bad.
It's fine. A little slow for me. I've never been an Elvis person.
meh. It's a so-so record from the grunge band that never really broke. I was really surprised at how well reviewed this was at the time.
Already had this album. It's great. It's a great band
This was my introduction to OutKast. I listened to this a lot in college, but i must have made a cd without the skits/interludes. Those are awful. The rest of the album is great.
This was a bit hole for me. Fits right in with all the Carly Simon and Carol King records my parents would play. Really liked it.
It's hard to get past all the current Eric Clapton baggage. Or the baggage of every ex-hippie/hippie wannabe talking to me incessantly about this band for the last 20 years. The best i can say at this point, this is a pretty standard rock album. The songs you recognize are as good as you remember them being.
Solid. Didn't know much about this band besides the jokes about the second album.
I only new the singles going in. Really holds ups. Great guitar sound.
Over the top goth/synth. Big fan of the single "This Corrosion". Enjoyed the listen.
Jazz.... Still not a fan. This album was a grind to get through
I fell down a PFunk rabbit hole a few years ago. It's a fun time. It's also need hearing where a lot of the Dr Dre/Snoop samples come from.
Not a big Who fan. This album didn't change my mind. It was fine. no real stand outs.
It was fine. I didn't connect with it. Seemed long.
The singles are still as undeniable as they were in the 80s. The rest of the album doesn't hold up as well.
An easy listen. No real stand outs besides Sultans of Swing.
Better then i had expected. Scratched a 90's nostalgia itch. It sounds like what the cool kids were listening to.
I remember hearing Sour Times for the first time. Nothing sounded like this then. Nothing sounds like it now. I've never listened to this whole album and I was missing out. btw Wandering Star is amazing, had to listen to it twice in a row.
I think this is the first Jazz album with songs i recognized. Still not a jazz fan but this might be the best Jazz album so far.
I wasn't expecting much. I got what i expected.
I only knew pyschocandy. This is a lot more mellow. Still a a good listen.
Judge me. I like folkie Taylor Swift. I have this on limited edition vinyl. Yeah i'm that person.
After the nostalgia wore off, it got repetitive. The singles still hold up and maybe the rest would be good in small doses.
This has one of my favorite REM songs on it. It's a great album but a little to melancholy for an everyday listen for me.
I liked this. True post punk where they could experiment with the formula.
This is a weird one for me. The production reminded me of De La Soul. None of the songs really stood out but it wasn't bad. Latifah charisma reminds you why she became an actress. Probably won't listen again.
I enjoyed it. Sounds like something i would have listened to in 2008.
Maybe a little calmer then their early stuff. Still a great listen.
Not my thing. I like Killer Queen but the rest felt like filler.
I would rather listen to a jazz album.
I bounced off this pretty hard. Not sure what this was about or who it was for.
Classic. Reminds me of summer barbecues.
Not sure what i just listened too.... Is this rock jazz? Not awful but not my thing.
I listened to this a lot when it came out. It holds up pretty well. There are still a few songs I always skip.
Didn't love it or hate it. Wouldn't listen again.
He's such a weird person in music. I didn't dislike this as much as I wanted to. There's no How Soon is Now or There is a Light, but it's completely listenable.
Don't think i've listened to this since the 90s. Holds up. Great opening of This is a Call and I'll Stick Around.
Between a 3 and a 4 for me. Some of the best of Prog Rock and some of it's more annoying tendencies as well. But I'd listen to it again before that last Neil Young album.
As good as I remembered. I love that big sound. A classic.
So boring. Couldn't even zone out to it because she hits those weird yodeling notes.
I only knew them from the two singles that were everywhere. This was a good listen. Some quality 90s pop/rock.
I liked it better then Definitely Maybe. Still not an Oasis fan.
I liked hearing those songs from Hackers. It just got repetitive.
Didn't connect to this at all. Seemed like all filler.
It was ok. Very 60s. Won't listen again.
I actively disliked this album. Hippies pretending to be cowboys is my new least favorite genre.
Great album. Have it on vinyl. Have listened to it a bunch.
This hit a good spot for me. I really like the piano and harmonies. Also recognized a few of the songs.
Interesting. Not my preferred flavor of 80s synth music.
It was nice to have on as background noise. Nothing really notable about it, but Dead Bodies. If the rest of the album had that energy, it would require another listen.
I listened to this a few times over the years. Never saw the movie. Pusherman, Freddie's Dead, and Superfly are really great songs. A quality listen.
Abba is better in small doses.
It's a good album. It just doesn't live up to the promise of Seven Nation Army.
This has not aged well. The two singles are fine and I won't skip them if they came up in a mix. The rest of the album is weird reminder of what was Edgy in 1999.
Better then i expected. Still not a U2 person, but it was ok.
This is their weirdest album. There's a lot that I like on it and there's a lot that i don't like. I always skip "The Gift" but the title track and sister ray are great.
i had never hear of this band. It was OK. I don't think I'd listen to it again.
I had heard the title track several times and liked it. Didn't realize the whole album was just the same organ sound over and over again.
Good. I don't know if it's as good as Pink Moon.
It was ok. Not my preferred dance music. Maybe if i heard it out instead of in my office.
Didn't really connect with it. Wasn't a Pink Floyd person.
Bowie's Funk/Soul record. I love the singles. A pretty good listen all the way through. Not my favorite Bowie record.
I have no idea how to rate a Beatles album. It's like rating oxygen. Yes this is essential. Do you like music? Then yes, you like this album.
I wanted to turn this off when i started listening. At no point did that change for me.
I just love her voice. Not my favorite of hers, but still very enjoyable.
I was forced to listen to a lot of Sinatra in high school. I still hate Sinatra.
Not bad. Not really my thing.
I don't know much about reggae. I liked this less then Bob Marley but it was fine.
This has all the things I like and dislike about Pink Floyd. Some of those songs just ring out as anthems but they're buried by baroque navel gazing. 4 because i liked it more then i disliked it.
Loud noisy fun. Always worth a revisit.
Unlistenable. Fuck Tom Waits!
I was more familiar with Power, Corruption & Lies. This is a great followup. Moody synths, sort of dancey, not quite as hooky as Blue Monday. Just a great Friday listen.
It was fine. not something i'd listen to again.
That's some real twangy country. Too slow pace for me and in a style I couldn't connect with.
Weird early German techno. Oddly fascinating. I listened to Trans-Europe Express and Computer Love after this. It was good rabbit hole to fall into.
I only knew them from the song in the Apple commercial. I was expecting something more dance/pop. This was ok but not really my thing.
I liked it better when i first listened to it. The hype when this album came out, made it sound like Kendrick was the new JayZ. I guess my exceptions tainted that listen through. I'm still not sure if I understand the hype. When he dabbles in jazz he completely loses me. I guess I'm stuck on late 90s early 2000s rap singles.
I know how important this band was. I know how important this record was. I've just never been a big Sonic Youth fan. That being said I liked this record more on this listen then I did 10 years ago. I'm torn on how to rate it.
Really lost me with those last 3 or 4 instrumentals. The single is great and the first half the album is good.
Some interesting parts, some boring parts. It was fine.
I was familiar with a lot of these songs going in. A good listen.
This is hard to rate. "Gimme Shelter" and "Get What you Want" are so a part of my life I don't even know when i first heard them. They're in movies, tv, and on the radio. The rest of the album was fine but with out those two songs, I don't think this album would be on the list.
I love this band and I love this album.
Not really my thing. This was a fine R&B record.
I always thought the Eagles were kind of bland. Some dinosaur band grown ups would babble to me about when I was in High School. This album did nothing to change my mind. I guess Witchy Woman is ok. 2 Stars for that.
Maybe it's just nostalgia but this really worked for me. I forgot how many singles this album had and how much radio airplay it got. I won't say I'm an Alanis fan but it's hard not to give something 5 stars that I had so much fun listening to.
Layers on Layers of samples. All pre-court case where it didn't bankrupt them to do so. A big change from the Licensed to Ill and not as approachable on the first listen. It's definitely an album I've enjoyed more on each listen. BTW if you are interested in the Beastie Boys at all, their book is great and the audio book version is even better.
I liked the energy. I liked the noisy rock that would become punk. Maybe too much noise and energy for a sleepy Monday morning.
Just stop listening after the first song. It doesn't get better and the rest of the album will make you rethink that first song was good. This was a grind to get through.
It's what i expected. Nothing to write home about, but nothing objectionable.
I honestly don't know if i just listened to the same song on repeat for an hour. There was so little difference between the songs. Skip this album.
This held up much better then Celebrity Skin. I guess I prefer songs ghost written by Cobain. Violet still kicks pretty hard.
Son of a Preacher Man is great and it's a real standout on this album. The rest is fine but not worth a re-listen.
Seemed more focused then the other Prodigy album. I knew more of the songs. This must have come out during the techno boom of the late 90s. It seemed really familiar... in a good way.
I found out about Pulp several years after Brit Pop was over. I really like this album. Common People is an awesome song.
Not as experimental or weird as some of their albums and that makes it more approachable. Also you don't need 4 cd players to listen to it. A nice listen on a rainy morning.
Another jazz record. Got to the end of it so 2 stars.
It was fine. I really liked Love Fool when it came out. I think I saw them open for Beck around this time.
A little boring. I had a hard time getting used to her voice.
I won't turn it off if it came on the radio.
It has a bit of everything. I only knew Tight Rope going in and i was expecting more of a pop/r&b album. This is a lot more then that, i'm not even sure how to define it. Pretty great, i'd listen again.
There are some great songs. There are some good songs. and there is a good chunk of filler. This album was everywhere when i was in high school so it hits that nostalgia button for me. Zero still hits pretty hard. While I'm not sure if this needed to be 2 hours long, it's still worth a listen.
She has a great voice. I just don't think i'd listen to this again.
It was fine. Nothing stood out.
I wanted to like this more then I did. It was ok.
I though this group was bullshit in 1999 and listening to a full album has not changed my mind. While I could hear an argument that some nu-metal was good or interesting, this watered down wannabe boy band is just crap.
it's good background. can't say much more about it.
Better then i expected.
reminded me of Nick Drake. Fit my mood when i was listening to it.
Hard to rate for me. I guess i disliked more of it then i liked.
Constant Cravings stands out in this otherwise boring album.
Boring. At every point they chose safe and simple. This could have been made by any half talented singer in any era.
The singles are still as undeniable as they were in the 80s. The rest of the album doesn't hold up as well.
Never heard of this band but enjoyed the listen. If i had to compare them to someone, they're like a more straight forward Tame Impala
Slow. Maybe I'm too young for the references. The legend of this album far over shadows it's content.
I've never listened to this album but I've heard every song on classic rock radio. I don't know if this is good but it's sunday bbq music at its best.
Better then i expected. Not really my thing. I always want a band with a full horn section to do more.
Might be the best Bowie I've listened to so far.
Like being in an elevator for an hour.
I've been listening to this since high school. I love the energy and chaos of this record. I'm not sure if this is the best JSBX record but it's the one I listen to the most. Also the video for Wail is still a good time.
I got through it.
Ok for a jazz record.
Fine. Not by preferred brand of funk.
I dug this album. It's weird listening to mid 2000s music and hearing just how many influences they pulled from. Dancing Choose was the stand out track for me.
The first 4 Devo records are all great. This is my favorite. There is a nice blend of instruments and synths before they really settled on their sound.
I liked it. I'm glad it had vocals. The female singer added to the creepy/moody feel of the album. I'm not sure if this would be an everyday listen for me but i won't mind revisiting it.
A strong start but a slow finish. I miss the energy and some of the rawness of their first two albums.
Enjoyed listening to it all the way through.
Immigrant Song and Tangerine are great. The rest of the album is good but not my favorite Zeppelin.
Didn't know Rollin Stone was 12 minutes and I was surprised by the chorus to Run Charlie. Overall a good listen.
Mostly it was just background music. It was a really long record and I won't be revisiting it. Lots and lots of the Amen Break though.
I love this album. I listened to it a lot when it came out.
I had this on tape in my first car. I have no idea how many times I listened to this on road trips or on the way to college. This is the first unplugged I remember being more then the some of its parts. More than an excuse for some famous band to play a greatest hits show. I loved all the weird covers and deep cuts they chose to play instead. This is a great album.
Better then i was expecting. Much more a straight forward indie rock record then what Bjork is known for. Still her voice started to grate on me by the end.
The two covers were kind of interesting. Not really my thing. Really lost me in the middle.
It wasn't bad but I'm never going to listen to it again. It wasn't for me.
Some of the songs that were more folk were ok. The whole record seemed safe, overproduced, and boring.
I really liked the drums. Wasn't awful.
It was fine.
The Who will always be the bargain basement version of better bands. The only song that stuck out for me was Pinball Wizard. I guess if you get tired of the Beatles, the Stones, and Zeppelin there's always the Who.
The music never transcended the language barrier for me.
Some real highs and lows. Sweet Child, Welcome to the Jungle, and Paradise City still hold up. the rest of this album feels like filler. Maybe in 87 it didn't sound like bloated garbage.
Better then i had expected. Between a 3 and a 4 for me.
Liked it better the last ELP I listened to. Seemed more focused.
Didn't connect to it at all. It was just background noise to me.
I liked this when it came out but it's been a while since i listened to it. Held up really well.
It's interesting. The song with Kylie Minogue is great. Not sure how to rate it.
kind of bland and overstays it's welcome.
Another jazz album.... seemed to be little difference between tracks.
I've just never been a big Sonic Youth fan. That being said I liked this record more on this listen then I did 10 years ago. A touch more mellow then Daydream.
This is some dentist office music. lifeless.
Very enjoyable. Like a missing Velvet Underground album.
Dated pop trash. Way past its expiration date or relevance
Ok. Slow and a little lifeless.
An ok dance album. I wasn't expecting a Selector sample. Red Alert held up pretty well.
I liked the feeling of melancholy it gave and the word play. I know Morrissey became a caricature and then a shitshow but i'd listen to this again.
Ok. Wasn't a big difference between songs.
Not a U2 fan. This was better then I expected. I'm not going to re-listen but I'm glad I listened to it.
Fine 70s rock. Didn't really stand out to me but wasn't bad.
This was dope. Quality garage rock. A harbinger of what was to come.
It was fine. I got really bored during the second half.
I wouldn't be annoyed if this was playing in a Starbucks.
A good listen all the way through. "It's Like That" is one of my favorites.
This is a great album. I've listened to it lot over the years. Good energy and Rollins at his best. It also has a bit of levity that the bands later records lacked.
Both Joy Division albums are amazing. This one is a little slower and darker then the first one but still excellent.
Yeah, the Beatles are great.
Some really good songs on this. Public Enemy political stance made them seem punk to me. Lots of energy on this record. I'd say the skits don't hold up but that's my complaint about most hip hop albums.
Not sure what i was expecting. Good listen all the way through.
Fine. I think Led Zeppelin did a better version of what he was trying to do.
A good bit of stadium rock. Knew a lot of these from the classic rock stations. Pretty good all the way through.
Not sure if I had heard this before. I'm a big Wilco fan and this is a good Wilco album.
I'd put this right behind Live at Folsom. It's pure Johnny Cash. The stage banter is almost better then the songs.
I'm just not a fan of the genre. She might be the best at it but all I hear is dentist office music.
Solid start. Recognized more songs on this then I expected to. Good listen all the way through. Less jazzy then some of the other Steely Dan records I've listened to.
This is a good album with an amazing single. Psycho killer isn't just my favorite Talking Heads song, it's one of my favorite songs ever.
Come Together might be my favorite beatles song. Another excellent Beatles album
Breaking the Law was ok.
Kinda boring.
A strong start that just wanders. Not bad but not something i'd listen to as a whole album again.
This is a weird listen in light of his recent comments. It's hard for me to separate the art from the artist. I'm just annoyed by West boasting for 60 minutes.
This was a hard one for me. When it's working, it's amazing. But I get so bored during the ballads.
Good not great. Between a 3 and a 4
did nothing for me. not even good background noise.
Glad i listened to it. Probably won't listen to it again.
A little bit of everything on this record including a Beatles cover. It didn't live up to the promise of the main single but wasn't a bad listen.
This is one of my favorite albums.
I didn't connect with it. It was slow. Compared to his other stuff it seemed sterile.
I love this album.
This was awful. The worst version of "Where Did You Sleep Last Night" I've heard.
Been a fan of Deceptacon for awhile, not sure if i had listened to the whole album before. Pretty great.
Lot of good stuff on this album which makes it easy to ignore the filler. I'm sure this hit deeper in the 80's right after Bon Scott's death.
Really strong start. War Pig, Paranoid, Iron Man are all great. Got a little bored by the end. between a 3 and 4 for me.
I'd never just put this one but it wasn't bad.
Fuck Tom Waits!
Just bored by it.
It's fine. I never got what the big deal was.
It was fine. Generic 60s
This was interesting for a song or two. Then it went on for 70 minutes.
I dug this. Seemed to fit my mood. I thought Extended Souvenir was a standout track.
I think this has most of the Pogues songs i know on it. A really good time.
I lost whatever interest I had in this album very quickly.
Good but a little slow for me. Didn't capture my attention like Super Fly.
I really didn't like it. There were a few tracks that felt like actual songs, but even those didn't hold my attention.
Wasn't what i was expecting.
Interesting. they tried a lot of different ideas with this.
kinda mixed on it. Took me awhile to get used to his voice.
Very 50s. I guess if i had a love of old westerns this could have worked.
It was nice to have on in the background. probably won't listen to it again.
It was fine. Nothing really stood out for me.
Enjoyable. A quality listen.
Maybe because i lived through the swing revival. Thought this was pretty good.
Wasn't bad to have on in the background. Can't say any of it really stuck out to me.
Seems like an album i should have already listened to. With a band coming from the ashes of another, it's hard not to compare. Definitely more experimental then the Minutemen. Not sure if I'd listen to this over Double Nickels but a good listen regardless.
Generic. It dragged by the end.
Completely unexpected.
Fine. After the nostalgia wore off i got a little bored.
While Tom Sawyer is great (the reason this isn't a 1 star), the rest of the album shows all of the excesses of Rush. 11 minutes songs that never get to the point. Meaningless lyrics that flow into meaningless instrumentals.
It was ok. I had a hard time with his voice. I don't know why it reminded me of radiohead.
I was expecting a little bit of everything and I wasn't wrong. For as experimental as it was, there were still some highlights. Not sure how to rate an album like this.
This wasn't the Queen i was expecting. Sounds more like a standard rock band then what I have come to expect from Queen.
The Talking Heads are great. This is a great album.
Great harmonies. I heard this and Deja Vu a lot in high school.
Garbage. If you put the worst things of the late 90s in a blender, this is what you would get.
A solid listen till about track 8 when the more experimental and ambient stuff kicks in.
I didn't listen to a lot of Beck post Odelay. This is fine but it just reminds me of when he made better stuff.
She has a great voice. It just wasn't my thing. I was hoping for it to pick up even for one track.
The singles off this album are great. Would work on any mix from this era. The rest of the record is fine. Score is mostly based on the singles.
Not sure if I ever really listened to this band. Not bad
Better then i had expected. Solid first track.
Great. Feels like i should have already listened to it. 1 2 X U is the stand out track for me.
I always get sad listening to her now. This was a monster of a record and it was everywhere at the time. There should have so much more to come.
Great synth album.
It's like watching a parody that takes itself too seriously. Is the joke that Kiss doesn't know they are a joke band?
When you go too far Prog do you just become Classical?
I was a big fan of this in high school. This as aged incredibly well. Still an amazing record.
When I listened to this in the 90s, I don't remember liking it. Just thinking the singles good. I liked it a lot more on this listen. Too bad they couldn't figure out the third LP.
There's a lot of good stuff on this record. My only complaint is it's long. They really wanted to fill 4 sides and I think that hurts the record.
This was a very long jazz album. Wasn't as bad as some of the jazz albums i've had to listen to.
I was doing fine till I hit the last track. Which is a 3 minute song stretched out to 19 minutes.
This should only be for completists or hardcore fans. These versions do nothing to make the songs better. This is a very long record without much of a purpose.
I'm a huge fan of the song Roadrunner. There's some other good stuff on here but overall the record is pretty mixed. "I'm straight" is a real low point. I'll probably go 4 stars just on the power of Roadrunner.
Maybe if i had heard this with fresh ears in 1987. The hair metal of the 80s were a joke and an example of lameness when I started listening to music. Nothing about listening to this album has changed my mind.
Not sure what i was expecting. Seems like a more personal record. I liked it but I can't point to a best track.
Not a bad listen. Seemed like a pretty standard record for its time.
A quality Cure record. I was already a Cure fan. I don't think this would be the record I would use to change peoples minds about the Cure.
I liked it better then Kid A. Thom Yorke's voice is still weird.
Not my thing. Thought "I Hear You Knockin'" was the best of it.
Didn't like it. Maybe it was too slow. Maybe it was the blue-eyed soul. Maybe i heard it too many times in dentist offices. It just isn't my thing.
D.A.N.C.E. is great. I'm always happy when it comes up randomly on a playlist. The rest of the album is enjoyable and I had a fun listen this morning with it.
Just great top to bottom. Almost every song could have been a single.
I didn't mind it. Maybe it would have been different in 72 when Cooper was more of an oddity and less of an old man I see talking about golf.
It was fine. It just never became great. I didn't mind it but i won't put it on again.
There are some really interesting post punk records. this isn't one of them. It was fine.
A really strong start but it overstays its welcome. Some where around track 5 I just got bored with it.
Song 2 is great even if it was overplayed for a while. The rest of this album works for me. I thought it was funny reading the wiki that it was influenced by Pavement.
Starts really strong. Gets a little jam bandy at the end. Not a bad listen.
Some really good songs on this one. A bit more scattered then some of their later albums. Still has that great big sound.
Not much of a Jazz person but this really kept my interest. The story behind the recording is very interesting as well. I might even listen to this again.
Dreamy and spacey. Not bad but i don't think i'd listen to it again.
This is the third Cure album we're doing. As good as the others. I don't think i knew any of these songs going in.
Heart of Gold is an amazing song. Some weird sonic shifts on this album. Enjoyed it overall.
Meh. I didn't turn it off but I really didn't like it.
Seemed like the filler left over from better Trip Hop albums. I keep waiting for it to kick in but it never delivered.
I listened to this a lot when it came out. It didn't sound like anything i was listening to at the time. I loved it then and i love it now.
Paul Simon was a stable of my house growing up. It's a good album and it reminds me of my dad.
Better then i had expected. Maybe not the best version of some of these songs. Taken as a whole, pretty enjoyable.
Nothing really stood out. I just got bored with it. Pretty low energy for dance music.
All the noisy and weird punk you could want. I feel bad for the kids in the 90s that bought these albums thinking all the songs would sound like Pepper.
I remember not liking this when it came out. I guess i was expecting something like "Down by the Water". Listening to it now, I really like the mellow folk rock. I'll probably listen to this again.
This is a great album. When the Talking Heads are on they are unstoppable.
This is probably the best version of this type of music. The guitar and drum work is excellent. But it's just not my thing.
Reminded me of Bowie. A solid listen all the way through.
Bland. Seemed to steal heavily from Bob Dylan. Will not revisit.
A couple of novelty hits. Stealing and Stop are fine if they come up in a playlist. Spent the rest of the album wanting to skip every track.
I liked this better then some of his others. Subterranean Homesick Blues is just great and video for it is iconic.
By itself its a good album. Looking at the progression from this to Abbey Road or Sgt Pepper, its even more amazing. It's crazy how much a band could influence and change in just 7 years.
I was not as familiar with this one as i was with their self titled album. Good, you can hear them starting to branch out from pure hardcore. Worth another listen.
Tedious garbage. It sounds like it was made my a committee of people who had never listened to hip hop or R&B.
This really surprised me. Enjoyed it the whole way through without understanding a word of it.
Bland. At it's best, it reminds me of better bands.
I'm a big fan of this band. I like all their records. This might be their best.
This is a one hit wonder band I haven't thought about since the 90's. The one hit still holds up as a novelty. The rest of the album is a weird mix of rock, hip hop, and dated references.
Shirley Manson is just cool. Queer is still as good as when I first heard it. Some filler I didn't care for but still a record I enjoyed listening to.
I listened to this on so many family road trips that it's basically a time machine to my childhood. Good songs and good memories here.
Holds up well. Some really good tracks on this. Nirvana was such a big part of my teen years that it's hard to rate this album.
Pretty listenable. Not something i'd put on again but was good while it was on.
Just boring. Nothing was overly terrible but there's not much else to say about it.
Didn't really connect with it. Seemed like a dollar store version of Led Zeppelin. Not awful, just not great.
I never owned this album and knew every song. This was one of the biggest bands when I was in high school. Even flow and Alive are still stand out songs.
The organ sound is excellent through out. Break On Through and Light my Fire still hold up. I guess if you can get past the Jim Morrison baggage and parodies the rest of the album works.
I guess someone had to write "The Girl from Ipanema". This record did nothing for me. The horn sounded weird through out.
Outstanding. I've listened to this album alot and it still sounds like it came from nowhere.
Fine. Sounds of the time.
The more Queen albums I listen to, the more I realize all you need is the greatest hits. Bohemian Rhapsody overshadows the rest of the album. I just spent the whole album waiting for it to get good.
There are some songs i really like on this but it doesn't hold together well as an album. Not sure who thought putting Mother and Every Breath on the same album was a good idea.
More straight forward then some of the later albums we've listened to. It's just not my thing. Fake plastic trees bugs me as much as when i first heard it. Thom Yorke's voice is still weird.
I still like the title song. The rest of the album shows it age. Fine but not something i'm going to revisit.
A little bit of everything. I want to rate it higher and then I think about the moonbeam song.
I really like Pavement. This album isn't as quirky or as smoothed out as some of there other albums. I enjoy raw and slightly more punk sound.
Much better then i was expecting. A solid groove and a great funky sound.
Middle of the road at best. Chris Martin voice has always been to whiny for me.
This is as good as any of the other Steely Dan records we've listened to. I was surprised again by how many songs i recognized.
Nothing really stood out on this album for me. If i was going to put on a Smiths record, it would be the Queen is Dead over this one.
I'm not sure how the CBGB scene reacted to Blondie putting out a dance track. It must have been an interesting topic at the time. This album worked for me. The first 3 or 4 tracks were solid and the rest of the album kept me interested. Heart of Glass is a standout on its own. Even if I'm not sure how it came from this band.
The hyper-violence and misogyny did not age well. This is a very strange record to listen to as an adult. Some of the production is interesting.
Hotel and Fastlane were probably good the first few hundred times I heard them. The rest of the album just felt washed out. Like a copy of a copy of a copy.
More jazz then i was expecting. Ok to have on in the background.
This is horrible. This is so much worse then anything i expected.
Some of the singles hold up. It just felt a little soulless.
I've listened to the album alot since it came out. It's pretty amazing.
More Prog then i normally listen to. Not bad though. Maybe a little long in parts.
I liked it better then Bitch's brew. Better then most of the jazz albums we've listened to.
Sounded like something I should have already listened to. Quality listen.
Didn't mind it. Was really enjoying it till the last track which wandered aimlessly for 8 minutes. Between a 3 and a 4.
I liked it better then Ritual de lo Habitual. Jane Says was overplayed to the point of being annoying. Ok overall but not something i'd return to.
I like Blue a bit more. This was good but not as seamless as Blue.
I really like "The Killing Moon". It's a good album but not as good as that single.
Good in the way that all Led Zeppelin albums are good.
Good production. The combination of Snoop and Dre worked better for me then the NWA album.
It was better then i expected.
I guess i was expecting something like "Revolution Will Not Be Televised" and got a low-key soul/jazz record. Not really my thing.
Reminded me of other bands i listened to in this era. Solid but nothing really stood out. Probably between a 3 and a 4.
Seemed like good 80s indie pop. Was a good listen for me.
Still as good as the first time I listened to it. Say Yes is so good and so clever.
Just a good listen.
Seems like they were a lot bigger in Britain then here. Kind of a Strokes or White Stripes sound. I'd listen again. "Look Good on the Dancefloor" is pretty catchy.
Lack luster. I was bored by it.
It sounds like if SNL was doing a parody about german music
I'm surprised my folks didn't play this in between Simon and Garfunkel records. I'd listen to this again. I really liked Sandy Denny voice.
Fine. Lasted longer then my interest in it.
Erykah Badu is a taste i never acquired and this is a long album.
Not my genre and some of the lyrics have not aged well. Still, didn't mind having it on.
A good listen. I liked some of the "unconventional percussion". The rougher sounding production fit her lyrics and voice better then some of the smoothed out 90s singles. I'm not sure if this was worth one of the rare pitchfork 10 out of 10s, but I'd listen to it again.
Not sure if anything stood out to me, but as a whole I enjoyed it more then Paranoid.
Dre and Snoop at the top of their game. I mean skip all the skits and just enjoy the ride.
From album cover to the last song, this is a weird record. Didn't mind it but i'm not listening to it again.
Feels like i'm missing something. Sort of a less interesting version of the Cure.
I liked this better then Vauxhall. Seemed more "rock" then the Smiths stuff. I'd listen to this again.
I could never get past the vocals.
The songs i connected with I really liked. The ones that were more minimal weren't as interesting for me. This is a hard one to rate for me.
My thing with Motorhead is that every song sounds like Ace of Spades... This album is filled with songs that sound like the live version of Ace of Spades...
I'd listen to this again. Noize and Arizona were the stand outs for me. Some of the commentary seems a little dated and on the more depressing side is how relative some of the commentary still is.
I'm a big fan of this band. Maybe not my favorite record of theirs but I still happy put it on. Tonite and Call the Police are the stand outs for me.
I didn't turn it off but I wanted to skip most of the songs. Maybe an extra star for Elevation.
I guess the singles were ok for a bit of nostalgia. But this record just felt disposable. After the summer these songs were out, i didn't think about them at all. Nothing on the rest of the record stood out and was either boring or skipable.
Some quality early rockabilly. Will listen again.
Meh. I was bored by the whole shock show in high school. It hasn't aged well. There are some interesting Industrial records from this era but this isn't one of them.
Strong start, kind of wanders at the end. I'd listen to it again.
I'd listen to songs off this again but probably not the whole album.
Really liked it. the title track is a classic.
Between a 3 and a 4.
Sparse. I didn't skip any tracks but i'm never going to listen to this again.
Took a while for me to get into this record. I don't know if I would have liked it more in English.
It's hard for me not to compare this to the Pixies. I liked it but i'd still listen put on a Pixies record before this.
Great from start to finish. Watch the video for the singles off this album, it's worth it.
Better then I had expected. Worth another listen.
I really wanted to like this album. For as much as I've listened to and like Paul Simon, this album was really a dud. Completely forgettable.
Shout and Rule the World are excellent singles. The rest of the album was so so for me.
I love this album. Just a classic.
Some top of their game Disco production on this record. I liked the more up tempo tracks.
I've listened to this so many times since I found it in high school. Holiday and California are still amazing songs.
This is a great record. It captures the energy of the early Husker Du records and blends them with the 90s sound. Its surprising to see how well this works compared to the last Husker Du record.
This didn't work for me.
Between a 3 and a 4. Couple of the songs stayed with me so maybe more of a 4.
Man i love "Season of the Witch". The rest of the album was fine.
Pretty standard synth-pop. The single still holds up.
lo fi beats to study to? Was fine to have on in the background.
I didn't know as many songs off this as Harvest. Overall I really liked it.
I've listened to this a lot since it came out. I own it on multiple formats. I've watched the documentary about the making of the album. This is a classic and if i could give it 6 stars I would.
About the same as the other album we listened to from them. I did like the few songs that were more rock.
I think I would need a better background in Hip Hop to really enjoy this. I wish the skits were separate from the songs so i could skip them. Seemed really long.
Not what I was expecting. Pretty good, i'm just not sure if i'd listen to it again.
This did have a song i recognized and was far more approachable then the other Bjork albums we've listened to. I'm just done with Bjork at this point.
A straight forward 70s punk album. Enjoyable. Five stars because it was refreshing after the last album i listened to.
2 incredibly great songs on a record I just didn't like. Not sure how to rate this.
I just like this band. This (like most of their records) is nice to put on and chill to.
I guess they got there first but it really reminds me of Led Zeppelin. Not sure if i'd listen to this again.
When we go back to classic country, all i can hear are the parody songs mocking the genre. I guess this is a good example of this sound, but i just didn't like it.
It was fine. Nothing really stuck out to me and I won't re-listen.
I don't think i have the technical understanding to enjoy this album. It was fine but I know i'm missing something.
I've listened to Genius of Love a lot. The rest of the album was a pleasant surprise. Would listen again. The best of the Talking Heads spin offs?
Some real heavy nostalgia with this record. I listened to it a lot when it came out and it was pretty inescapable that year. While not being a huge Green Day fan anymore, I still really enjoy this record.
I've definitely revisited the singles off this since it came out. Some of the album cuts show their age, but i'd probably re-listen to most of the singles off of this.
Straight forward 70s punk with a couple of covers. Very enjoyable.
Not sure which era of Bowie this is, but the record sounded like Rock all the way through. Not as many stand-out songs as some of the Bowie record but also not as much of the random experimental tracks. I'd listen again.
Between a 3 and a 4. I've been enjoying the Sonic Youth records more then I was expecting.
It's weird to listen to a record that makes the Stooges sound focused and polished. I like what this record influenced more then this record. It was fine.
A good listen. Maybe not as defining as Loveless but it's still in my re-listen list.
This guy shouldn't be rapping. Generic rave music with annoying vocals.
A bit slower then what i remembered. Still good memories of listening to this record.
Generic noise.
A good throw back to 70s southern rock. Enjoyable, but they sure do like talking about Lynyrd Skynyrd.
I enjoyed having this on. Fell into a sweet spot for this type of music for me. Between a 4 and a 5
He was definitely trying for something. No idea what.
Yeah, the Beatles are great.
Really mixed on this album. I think without the talking I'd put it on again to work to. But as is, i don't think i'd listen to this again.
A lot slower then i was expecting. I found myself getting bored and skipping to the next track.
Not for me. The singer has a unique voice and i never got used to it.
Good, maybe not the Stones i was expecting. I could see the Beatles comparison more on this record.
There wasn't a lot of variation between songs. The first track was fine, but i didn't need to hear it 12 times.
I enjoyed this. Strong start. I even listened to some of the alternative mixes.
I lost interest in it about halfway. The cover of California Uber Alles was strange.
Not sure what classic rock radio would sound like without this album. It's the definitive Zeppelin record. Stairway is almost bigger then the band.
I liked it better than i had expected to. Three Steps and Freebird still hold up.
At first, I thought maybe I'd like it more if is spoke french. By the end, I think i'd dislike this in any language.
Interesting. I don't think I'd listen to it again.
Straight forward punk album. I knew a couple of the songs. I'd put it on again.
Just great. I've listened to this a bunch of times and it's still a treat to listen to.
I liked it better then the last time I listened to it. It's the least interesting VU record to me.
I can see why so many bands cite this as an influence. It's so good and i should have listened to it years ago. A real treat and it deserves a relisten.
I liked the first song but then i lost interest. Not bad not good
The two songs i knew were fine. The rest of the tracks were hard to get through.
I'm real mixed on this record. The singles (Sabotage, Sure Shot, Root Down) are all incredible. The rest of the album just feels random. While i'll listen to the single again, there's no way i'm listening to this all the way through again.
Not for me. Maybe his voice sounded a little like Neil Diamond.
I had low expectations going in. Better then i expected but still not my thing.
About the same as the other Coldplay album we did. So So music and the lead still sounds whiny to me.
I think first time listening to this band. Not sure what I expected but I liked it. Maybe a little to 90s for some people's tastes.
Wasn't bad. Nothing new stuck with me. The single is still good.
I understand why this is on the list. I understand it's importance in Hip Hop. I'm just not going to listen to it again.
Take on Me is great. I don't know what i expected from the rest of the album. It was fine. Very 80s.
It took awhile for me to warm to his voice. I'm surprised how much I ended up liking this record.
Really enjoyed it. You can hear the influence it has on a lot of bands i listen to. Will listen again.
2 hours, come on. I found some of the instrumentals interesting. Ever time the vocals came in, i just wanted to skip to the next track.
I must have listened to this when it came out because i knew a lot of the songs. It's interesting to hear what he sounded like before becoming a walking trash bag.
I just couldn't get into it.
A really enjoyable listen. Seems like they influenced a lot of bands I listened to in high school and college.
I like it better then two. Fine but not something i'm going to revisit.
Real jammy. Long drum solos. Long guitar solos. Fine, just not my speed.
I've listened to this band before. It took me awhile to get used to their sound. Overall an enjoyable record even if Frankie is too long.
It sounded like Coldplay. I guess if that's your thing maybe this is for you.
A good listen, maybe not as high on my list as some of their other albums. Seem more low key to me.
Not something i would have normally listened to. Not bad. Didn't want to skip any tracks but won't be revisiting.
All their albums pre breakup are amazing. Depending on the day this is my favorite.
Less interesting then the other Doors album we did. I enjoyed the songs i knew but the rest felt like filler.
It was ok. I liked the other 2 albums better.
Took me a minute to click with this. Around "Sigourney Weaver", I got into it and started getting his humor. Really ended up enjoying it.
A straight forward 70s punk album. Less energy from their first one.
I found all parts of this album less interesting then Back to Black. Still has a great voice but I didn't care about any of these songs.
What is this?
The singles are just classics at this point. A quality listen all the way through.
This isn't my favorite from this band. I could hear some of the promise that gets fulfilled on the later albums, but it just wasn't there yet. On it's own, it's ok.
Not much of a prog fan. This record seemed rambling and unfocused. Maybe I just don't get the genre.
I guess I was expecting 60 minutes of Bela lugosi. More varied then that. Overall a good listen.
I don't think there was an album that had a bigger impact on my teen years. This is a fantastic album. There was a time where you could hear almost any song off of this on the radio.
Another big high school record. I've always loved the opening to Come Out and Play.
Ok Britpop. Nothing really stood out to me about this album.
Felt a little like Harvest. A bit slower. Seemed fitting for a grey fall day.
This is the 3rd Smiths album we've done. Coma and Stop Me were the tracks that stood out to me. I'd listen to this after Queen but before Meat.
Connected is pretty good and I've heard it a bunch. The rest of the album is ok.
Not as bad as i was expecting. Still never listening to this again
I guess i didn't understand it. The lead singer sounded too much like Tom Waits for my taste. I just don't think i have the patience to listen to this to the point where I like it.
This is probably the best version of this type of music. The guitar and drum work is excellent. But it's just not my thing.
New to me. I liked it enough that I want to check out more of her stuff.
Felt generic. Never connected to it.
It was good. Not my favorite of theirs.
It felt like a really long jazz record. I didn't turn it off. Low bar for jazz records.
The songs before the title track seemed very average 60s. The title track is good... but I don't think i'd listen to the full 17 minute version again.
I listened to the 2 disc version. This music wasn't meant to be listened to at home on a quiet day. I'm sure the repetitive nature or endless thump would be perfect somewhere people are dancing. As is, its just ok and maybe a little long.
My parents would listen to a lot of Beach Boys on car trips when i was a kid. I sort of thought their songs were a bit simple. It's a lot different now listening to this album after seeing the documentaries and hearing bands talk about the influence this record had. It's just a great album. God Only Knows is probably my favorite Beach Boys song.
The title track is pretty classic. Vincent is ok. The rest of this record is really boring.
Good harmonies. Some pretty folks songs. Not bad.
Street fighting man and Sympathy for the Devil are great. I'd listen to the those tracks again but I don't think i'd listen to this album again.
I didn't turn it off but it wasn't my thing.
The stuff i liked, I really liked. The stuff i didn't like, was almost un-listenable. I guess that evens out to a 3.
The beat was decent. I don't think I'd listen again.
I listened to this a lot when it came out, but i haven't revisited it since. It's sad Monday music but I liked it. Terrible Love will be in the rotation now.
It's interesting how much this influenced both punk and glam. A good listen. Standouts for me were Personality Crisis and Trash
Fine
Seems like a band transitioning. I had listened to some of their earlier Ska stuff. I was expecting that energy and was let down by what i got.
I liked the title track and the singles were ok. This was a lot of LL and it definitely showed its age.
There's a lot of autotune on this record. I guess I just don't get modern R&B.
I would have rated this higher if it was just instrumental. It's close as is, but the random vocals took me out of it.
I've been enjoying the Sonic Youth records more then I was expecting.
Solid 90s rock. Not much to say about it.
More mellow then I remember 2Pac being. It all just feels so fake at this point. Like an actor pretending to be hard.
It's very 80s. That one single was everywhere and I still hear in movies. More covers then I was expecting. Kind of mixed on this very disjointed album.
Just found this boring. I liked the bands they are trying to be better.
I listened to this album in a lot of cars that year. Peak 90s era techno (at least in America). Not a huge fan of the chill songs at the end, still a good record.
It was fine. The guitar sound was great. I just don't see me listening to it again.
Second album of theirs i'm listening too. They've worn on me. I think i like their other album less now too.
I listened to this right after he passed. It still hits as hard as it did then. One hell of a good bye.
My favorite of the Stones albums we've listened to so far.
I just found it boring. Probably the wrong genre for me.
A favorite of mine. Just a great album to put on. Even in the background.
Some of the beats were good. The lyrics just felt dated.
This was a good listen. It had more songs that I knew then i was expecting.
This went down hill fast for me. First song 'This isn't bad' to the end 'I'm bored and i don't like this'.
A good listen. Didn't know much about it going in.
A whole album from a one hit wonder that doesnt have the one hit. I didn't need 10 tracks of this.
Even if you can separate Art from the Artist, this is still hot trash.
Seemed to have all the singles I knew up front. While the singles are fine and have some nostalgic value for me. This is a long repetitive record (that feels a little preachy).
I had really low expectations. I'm not that into prog or psychedelic music. But something about this really worked for me. It was fun to have on. That said, I did skip most of the weird talking songs.
Fine. Nothing really stuck out to me about this record.
I love this band and this is a great album. It was a fun re-listen.
I only knew 3eps going into this. This wasn't bad but i'd listen to 3eps before putting this on again.
I don't understand how there's so much Tom Waits on this list.
I have no idea why she's on the list so many times.
Some good tracks. Refreshing after the last few albums. Just not sure if i'd go back to it.
I've listened to this a lot of the years. Good beats and interesting samples.
Fine. A little long.
90s trendy coffee shop music. While not Bjork bad, I still didn't enjoy it.
Noisy indie rock. I'd never gone deep on Dinosaur Jr. I really liked this album.
Meh. One of the vocalists really bothered me.
Some good dark and synthy songs on this. Again I knew more songs then i was expecting. Quality listen.
nothing stood out to me on this.
Maybe it's the singer, Maybe it's the production. I really disliked this album.
I guess Low End Theory was a little better. Didn't dislike this but wasn't really my thing. A little long.
Cold Beverages was a radio staple for awhile. The album is fine. Kind of a nostalgia trip for me.
Jazz New Wave hybrid? This was not my thing, but i didn't turn it off.
I like this record. It's hard separating the massive hype surrounding the Strokes when this came out. I wish their follow ups were anywhere near as good.
I liked this alot more then I was expecting to. Country but not over produced. Almost more folk. I'd listen to this again.
It's hard rating PJ Harvey because I really want all her stuff to be like "Down by the Water". That said I enjoyed listening to the album. Much more straight forward rock then some of the other stuff of hers I've listened to.
Not a U2 fan. This was better then I expected. I'm not going to re-listen but I'm glad I listened to it.
Generic 60s. Not much to hold my interest but I didn't turn it off.
Just a great loud punk record. I was thinking about listening to this when it came up on the feed.
It was ok. Some of the lyrics were clever with good word play. But the whole thing felt like they let the theater kid play the piano at the party.
Disjointed. Not a bad listen, but the songs are all over the place.
Meh. The cab driver song was the only one that stuck out to me. The rest of it felt like bland wannabe hippy stuff.
Like an eclectic mix tape. Some real highs and some deep lows.
I just don't see listening to this again. Good guitar work and I'm sure this is top of this style of music. Just not for me.
Fine. I liked the singles less then the rest of the album.
'Good Times' is a great track and opener. The rest of the album flows like I want a disco album to. Up beat, Dancey, Just a fun time.
Really strong start. Life on Mars is an amazing song. Got a little weird on the back half.
This didn't age well. Also one of the rappers sounds like Tracy Morgan which made the whole thing sound like a bad SNL skit.
Sparse. I had a hard getting used to it. Felt more like a music lesson then an album.
I'd listen to this again. Good horns. Good songs. Wasn't sure what to expect from the Come on Eileen band, especially when this album didn't have Eileen on it.
Not the same energy as his first 3 albums. Maybe a more mature Elvis. Still enjoyed it. Would listen again.
Between a 2 and a 3. Sometimes he would break through the formula and polish and it would start to shine. Most of it just felt like product.
It was fine. No single track stuck out to me but I didn't mind having it on.
Two decades to make this album and it's pretty great. Hope we get another before 2033.
At best it sounded like bad Belle and Sebastian or bad Pulp. I never got used to the singer's voice and was happy when it was over.
This is great. I loved the stage banter as much as the songs. He's got more charisma then the actor who played him. A great listen.
Fast clever punk songs. Maybe the first 'pop' punk. A really fun and enjoyable listen.
This is supposed to be romantic music, but those cheesy lyrics could ruin anyone's chances. Down a star for that KFC song.
Better then i was expecting. Between a 3 and a 4.
I just couldn't get into this.
Really good guitar and drums. Sounded sort of like Black Sabbath. The satan gimmick got stale quickly.
I still say they sound like the Beatles. Best Kinks record I've listened to so far.
This is a hard one for me. A couple of truly great and classic songs, but the rest of the record is just bad.
Maybe it's just nostalgia. I had a really good time listening to this record. Jealous Again and Hard to Handle are great tracks
A soundtrack to a movie I've never heard of in a style of music I'm not familiar with. It wasn't great but there were one or two songs that were listenable.
Between a 3 and a 4. Wouldn't mind listening to it again.
It's like a soundtrack to a musical I don't want to see. Very strange.
Fine. Seemed average 60s
This wasn't the Elvis i was looking for.
This was a fun listen. The Weight is still a great song.
it definitely overstays it's welcome.
This might be the best of this genre, I just couldn't connect with it.
I've listened to this a lot over the years. A bunch of great pop songs. I think this was the first Taylor Swift record I listened to all of.
I found this band after the Nirvana Unplugged. While the singer's voice takes some getting used to, this is a really cool album. I enjoy the blending of folk, country, and punk. Both versions of Plateau are great.
Ok dance music. Not sure if i'd listen to it again.
As weird and wonderful as I remember it. It's hard to judge an album that is such a mix of styles and genres. For every 10 songs, I loved one and skipped one. I've giving it 5 stars for just being so ambitious.
I didn't like any of this. I was glad when it was done.
I know a lot more CCR then I thought it did. Good listen.
Seemed designed for the more hardcore fans. It was ok but i don't think I'd listen again.
Some really classic songs on this album.
All of his albums were great. There was a time in college when he was all i listened to.
It was ok. Nothing really stood out to me
The lead singer's voice got more annoying to me as it went on.
This seemed really long. The few good parts were overwhelmed by the sheer volume of sameness from the rest of the album.
A lot better then i was expecting. The dance tracks held up better for me then the ballads. The singles were a nice bit of nostalgia.
Felt dated and generic, but Ludacris showed up for a song. So there's that.
Fine. Kind of what i was expecting. I liked some of his other stuff better.
This was a good listen. I'd put it on again.
This was fine. I thought the stage banter was pretty good.
Pretty good listen. I won't turn it off if it came on.
This was ok. The first half or so was good to have on for background. Wasn't as much of a fan of the end of it.
An in between record for me. 4 stars for Superstition
Definitely from another time. Jump Jive and Wail was ok.
Wasn't a big fan of the lyrics but the rest of the album was great. Really good guitar work.
I liked "What's Love Got to Do with It", maybe just out of nostalgia. The rest of the album has some heavy production. A weird choices of cover songs as well.
First 5 tracks are pretty great. It loses steam after that, but i'd listen to this again.
Still don't like the lead singers voice. This was ok.
Great band, Great album. I've listened to this before and will again. I'd have a hard time picking between this and Los Angeles.
This was described as Jazz Rock. Maybe too much Jazz for me.
A very stripped down record. The story behind it is almost as good as the record. My favorite Springsteen record so far.
It was ok. Didn't really connect for me like his first 3 albums.
Heavy synths, Sort of dance music, and Annie Lennox singing her lungs out. I'd listen to this again.
I didn't like this. I thought the movie samples were weird. The lyrics were repetitive. I'd ask for this to be turned off if it was on at a BBQ.
This record was played a lot when I was in high school. Not sure why. The harmonies are great. Seems like everyone was at the top of their game. I'd put this on again.
I'm not a big fan of this style. Nothing was awful about it but I'm not going to listen to it again.
Seemed long.
He was definitely going for something. I don't know what that is and I didn't like it.
This is a weird sound to come out of 2005. Not awful but not exciting either. A real bore.
Maybe not as good as Blue. Still pretty great.
I knew a bunch of these songs. I just don't see listening to it again.
Sounded like it would fit in with a lot of the singer song writers in my parents collection.
The indie rock version of Big Star. This is a great album and I'll listen to it again.
This was never for me. I'm not sure how the rest of the album compares to 2002, but the singles feel extremely dated. Forgettable.
Nothing really stood out, but it wasn't a bad listen. Somewhere between a 3 and a 4.
I didn't need a full album of this. One or two songs and you get the idea.
The guitars and drums were good on a couple of the songs. Overall it just wasn't my thing.
Lots of ups and downs for me on this record. I've never been an Elton John fan. I'm also good if I never hear Candle in the Wind again. But some of those other singles are really catchy. So maybe a 3.
This was ok. I just don't see listening to it again.
Felt a lot mellower then Talking Book. I'd probably put on Talking Book before listening to this again.
I'd listen to Higher Ground again. I don't see listening to the whole album again.
Started out as background noise and somehow got more boring from there.
This is a good era of REM. I'd listen to this again. Maybe Stand was overplayed for awhile, but it didn't detract from the record.
Surprised me. I only knew her one song. I liked her voice. This was a good listen
They're definitely going for something. Don't know what that was or if I would understand it.
Better then i was expecting.
Generic pop. Less fun then i was hoping for.
It was fine. Not something i'd listen to again. Some of the stage banter was funny.
Fast and loud. Not bad. Not my first choice for something fast and loud.
Between a 2 and a 3. nothing really objectionable. I just got bored with it.
I love this weird mix of punk and rockabilly. I also dig how two genres of music at the same time were watching too many horror movies. Instead of the vampire macabre of the goths, this is straight creature feature b-movie.
Fine. At it's best it sounds like bad Led Zeppelin
It all just blurs together. Maybe a single would be enjoyable in small doses, but 80 minute of this is a kind of punishment.
I found this band through the Replacements. You can hear the influence on a lot of 80s/90s bands. Even without that pedigree, this is a good listen. 13 is a great song.
Some really good songs on this record.
There wasn't a stand out track like Touch Me I'm Sick, but it was still a good listen. A less flashy version of grunge then most of their peers.
Another great Wilco album. More upbeat then YHF.
Fine. Drags a little.
Not bad, but it felt like a lesser Franz Ferdinand. maybe a 3.5
They do one thing. They do it well.
I can see a lot of the bits that would come together in Pink Moon. Maybe if i had heard this first, I would have liked it better. It's still very good. I just think Pink Moon is better.
Fine but i won't listen to it again.
It was missing something for me.
Mixed for me. I love 'Tainted Love' but I found the rest of the album so so. A 3.5 for me.
Fine. Not sure i'd listen to it again.
I really like Sandy Denny voice. I ended up re-listening to Tam Lin a couple of times after finishing the album.
This is a great album. I've listened to a lot. Probably the best Liz Phair record. If you're not digging it, at least check out Stratford-on-Guy.
I listened to this in high school and quite often since then. It feels like I hear something new every time i listen to it. Really a classic.
Mixed for me. I liked the first 3 songs then I lost interest. The last song was ok. I don't think i'd listen to the whole album again, but maybe a song or two.
It's not bad, but the whole time I thought i should just listen to Elliot Smith.
I've been listening to this one since it came out. Probably still my favorite of their records. Lauren Mayberry is great on this. I'm not a big fan of the two songs where she's not the lead singer.
Not my favorite of theirs. It's more interesting then anything else. I mean it's still Alex Chilton being awesome. It's just not as good as his other stuff.
Interesting. It's really the triumph the hype would have you believe. I miss the old harmonies that were the core of the best Beach Boys songs. I don't think i'd listen to this again.
This was a good listen. Seemed to move better then Synchronicity.
Good. I'd probably listen to it again.
I knew a couple of songs off this album. The rest of the album was as good as the songs I knew.
It's a classic. The music I listen to would be very different without this record. I'm really sure what else to say about it.
Took a while to get used to the singer. Some of the songs were ok but I got tired of it by the end. A hard rate for me.
I don't think this album would change anyone's mind about the Dead. I don't know how well this translates the live experience, but there is a LOT of jamming.
Fine. I just didn't connect to it.
I just never cared about Jack White post White Stripes. Most of the stuff I heard from him post seemed self indulgent. This wasn't as bad as i was expecting but there's no way i'm putting this on over a White Stripes record.
Hova and Takeover are still pretty good. Some of the album cuts were better then i expected. The other singles seemed really dated. I guess if you have more nostalgia for this album then I do. Fine but not great.
I didn't mind this, but the only thing that stuck out to me was the cover of Only Love Can Break Your Heart
Good. I remember listening to these songs on road trips growing up.
A mixed bag. Some of the singles hold up.
Wasn't on my radar during the Brit Pop era. Fine but nothing really stood out. There are other bands of this time and era that i'd rather listen to.
Better then i was expecting. I liked the shoe-gaze guitars.
Very 60s. The mountain song was the one that stood out for me. Fine but i don't see listening to it again.
I won't mind the single if it showed up in a sound track or something. I didn't need a whole album of this. I was never a big fan of nu-metal and nothing about this record has changed my mind. Also minus 1 star for that fred durst song.
On the one hand, i was completely uninformed about this artist and this larger genre. It was interesting to be exposed to it. On the other hand, this wasn't really for me. It was quite long and while the production was good I wasn't interested in the lyrics at all.
I could see this being someone's favorite prog record. I was just kind of bored by it.
Better then I remember it. Wasn't a big fan in the 90s. A good listen if a little long.
The first 4 songs were pretty great. My interest went downhill after that to just wanting it to be done by the end. Not really sure how to rate this.
Slower paced then i was expecting. Fine, I just don't think i'll listen to it again.
Wiki says this was one of the first psychedelic albums. It was fine. Nothing really stuck out to me.
I enjoyed having it on. No one song really stood out to me. I do love that organ sound.
The first half was better then their other album. The last 4 or 5 songs were rough.
Big theater kid energy. Like listening to a musical soundtrack for something you've never wanted to watch.
This was all over the place. Some of these songs don't even sound like their from the same band. I didn't connect to it at all.
Wasn't aware of this group. A quality folk record. I liked the title track and i'd listen to this again.
Good listen. A good blend of punk and art rock.
I think Raw Power is still my favorite of theirs. This is still a great album and is an easy 5 stars for me.
I like and dislike Pink Floyd. While I probably won't listen to this again anytime soon, I can see why this album is on the list.
Live albums are usually for hardcore fans. This didn't change my mind. I prefer the studio versions of the cheap trick songs I like. Not bad, just not great.
This was a good listen. Maybe not as good as Different Class, but close
Good sad girl music. To much of it by the end.
Just wasn't for me.
It was ok. I don't see listening to this again or why this band was on the list more than once.
I though the title track was good when I first heard it. Not a fan of the other singles or the rest of the album.
Not my favorite P-Funk album. It was fun hearing where some of the samples came from. Not sure if i'd listen to it again.
That was a lot of work to get to the Paper Planes song. Everything else on this album blurs together into noise soup. Paper Planes is still great.
I love his first 3 albums. This is a great album.
... So much worse then i was expecting. The best track is Method Man and Redman. Just listen to one of their songs and save yourself from the misery.
Wonder what this French guy is talking about? Looked it up on wiki, this is an even weirder album then I thought. I guess musically ok, but I'm not going to listen to it again.
An easy 5 stars. A great record and you can hear it's influence on a lot of 90s bands.
Better then i was expecting. I'd listen to this again.
Not my genre. I think what he does well is overshadowed by the sheer amount of it. Not a big change between songs on this record.
This was alright. Not sure i'd listen to it again.
Seemed like they were messy with a lot of different ideas on this one. Not bad, but it's not high on my re-listen list.
I guess this is technically music.
There's a lot on this album. Some of it was good and some of it was skip able. I don't see me listening to this whole album again.
Fine. Just became background noise at a point
I'm not much of a jazz person. This was better then i expected. Wasn't bad to have on. Probably won't listen to it again.
Just bland. Wasn't the worst thing we've listened to.
They just played all the notes at once for 40 minutes. John Zorn owes me advil.
Not really my thing.
They all have great voices. I just wish there were some faster/more upbeat songs. It was fine, probably won't listen to it again.
I think I liked Trans-Europe Express better. Still a good listen.
This wasn't bad. I'd need to be in the mood for low key and mellow to listen to it again.
Some of the songs had a good groove. I got annoyed by the talking.
There's so much Tom Waits on this list. about the same as all the others.
Kind of mixed. I don't think i'd listen to this again.
This was the PJ Harvey I knew. Good loud guitar music.
Got real chatty. Maybe it was funny at the time. The rest of the record is generic 60s.
Too experimental for me.
Sounded of it's time. Wasn't bad though.
I guess i'm more used to Kate Bush. Seemed less weird then the other 2 we did. I'd give it another listen.
Didn't know as many songs as i did with Born to run. Didn't hit quite as hard a Nebraska. Still a good listen.
Like listening to a good Bowie album I didn't know about.
It was fine, but i'm not listening to it again.
I liked it better then Parklife. Seemed more focused.
No thank you
Not sure how to rate this. When they could find the groove, this was a great record. When they couldn't, it was a rough listen.
I mean it started out with some good fuzzy garage rock. Then it was just weird 60's psychedelic garbage.
I went from finding this bland to actively disliking it at track 4. I hope there's no more of this band on the list.
Felt dated. I don't hear this style of rapping any more.
I still like the singles. I tended to like the tracks with features more then the other ones. I think i'd just listen to the singles instead of listening to this whole record.
I liked Groove Thang. The rest of the album really scratched an 80s itch for me.
Sounds like something I would have listened to in 2009. A good mellow listen.
Crucify is a really good song. This album isn't for me. Just like it wasn't for me when i was in high school. I did appreciate it more on this listen.
I guess Green Light was ok. Didn't really connect with this album. Was mostly annoyed by it at the end.
I remember the hip hop nerds in college being really into this band. Golden was the only song i knew going it. This album wasn't a bad listen, maybe a little long.
Seemed like an album designed for hardcore fans. There wasn't an easy entry point for me. Even the singles weren't good on ramps to the rest of the album.
Didn't mind this. Not sure if this is the original Stepping Stone but it was a good version.
That's a lot of prog.
This didn't seem to age well. Even the singles seemed tired at this point.
Wasn't my thing. I don't think I've liked any of his stuff as much as I like Red Right Hand.
I'm not super into jam bands but this really worked for me. Some quality organ sound. Some really good guitars. Even in the longer jam sessions, they never felt 'lost'.
I've listened to a lot of the Pogues over the years. I prefer the faster songs to the slower songs.
This is a weird mix of genres. While interesting, it didn't really work for me. This was an ok record.
Listening to this in my office probably wasn't what was intended. This was ok, but I don't see listening to it again.
I was just kind of bored by it. The few songs i know, I know better versions of.
Good Day is a classic. Wasn't a bad album, maybe a little long.
Like bad Chuck Berry
Got too twangy for me
Better then i remembered. I'd still need to be in the right mood to put it on.
Maybe not as good as Blue. Still pretty great.
Ok. Nothing really stood out for me.
Another great album from Dinosaur Jr
Not as self-indulgent and excessive as some of the other prog records on the list. I liked the first and last song a lot more the middle song.
This was not a good record for me. Indian jazz mixed with dance music isn't something i'm going to revisit.
An interesting mix of covers. I'm trying to remember how much I liked Hurt before it became over played. Some these songs really work, but I think I'd listen to a few songs again instead of the whole album.
I really liked this. Noisy and loud. Sounded like what music was when i was in high school.
This might be the gold standard for getting down music. That lead single knows what's about to happen.
I'm not sure at which track I went from being bored to annoyed.
I just knew the one song from a hundred soundtracks. This was better then i was expecting.
I knew a lot of these songs. I guess this is the 'pop' Springsteen album. Plus one star for 'I'm on Fire' which is great.
I've never liked his voice. His popularity confuses me.
Didn't connect with this at all.
Fine. Maybe if I was a bigger fan of any part of this super group.
This was a hard listen. At it's best I could hear it's influence on NIN and some other 90s bands.
Didn't mind it in the background.
A boring folk record. There's a lot of Buckley on this list
I listened to this after Frontier Psychiatrist came out. I remember not liking the record, maybe I was expecting 12 Frontier Psychiatrists. This is much more of a vibes record. As weird as Frontier Psychiatrist it's really the only stand alone song. I enjoyed this listen a lot more. I might have to revisit this again.
A sound track to a movie I should have watched. Wasn't a bad listen, but i don't think i'll revisit it.
Not sure how to rate this. I can hear the skill but I don't see listening to it again.
Some quality 80s pop. I still love "We Got the Beat"
Wasn't my thing. I don't think I've liked any of his stuff as much as I like Red Right Hand.
I thought this band was so cool in 97. Some great tracks on this like Boys Better, Junkie, and Holiday. I don't remember the spacey instrumentals but over all this lives up to my memories of it.
I like her voice. I don't know if this is any better then her other albums I've listened to.
This was alright. don't think i'd relisten
I only knew Pretty in Pink. This was better then I expected. Dumb Waiters was a stand out track for me.
I knew more songs off of this then I thought. Pretty good, between a 3 and a 4 depending on my mood.
Maybe this was better in 91 at a rave in a field in the middle of England. But it's pretty boring now.
