I was expecting to skip this. It was better then i was expecting. I'm not into British hip hop, modern hip hop, people with little in their names. This wasn't bad. I'm not sure I'd listen again but i didn't hate it.
It's fine. but i'm never going to listen to it again. Of the synth pop 80s, there's stuff i enjoy a lot more.
it's not bad or good. it's just background. Like what they playing in lobbies they don't want you to stand around in.
I was expecting to skip this. It was better then i was expecting. I'm not into British hip hop, modern hip hop, people with little in their names. This wasn't bad. I'm not sure I'd listen again but i didn't hate it.
Has generic Beatles sound. It's ok but i'm not sure why it made this big list.
I remembered really liking this album when it came out. There was a lot of talk of the "softer" Hole and about Billy Corgan writing on the album. Revisiting it now I'm less impressed by it. I'd say the singles hold up but the rest of the album is so so.
It's hard for me on this one to separate the art from the artist. It just seems like a long album of self indulgent narcissistic ramblings.
An easy listen. Not sure if it will go into heavy rotation.
One of the best records I took from my parents. I have no idea how many times I listened to this growing up.
Very bland. I had problems getting used to the singers voice.
They seem like the generic version of Metallica. Album was ok but no real stand outs. It was like they were following a script on how to make Metal.
More Kinks sounding like the Beatles. Not bad
Wasn't super familiar with this album, but it's Tom Petty. It's great.
I really dug this album. a little slow in parts. The single A Forest is a favorite of mine.
More Kinks sounding like the Kinks sounding like the beatles.
Sounds like an album I should have already listened to. Very enjoyable
I was expecting more Big Beat era dance music but it was very chill. Maybe too chill for me.
This is not the Nick Cave i was looking for. completely skippable
It's like a "best of" for all those 60's girl groups. The "Wall of Sound" over production got to be a little annoying by the end.
I already owned this one. Love this era of Costello. His first 3 albums are true classics.
I like the dance stuff more then the atmospheric stuff. Kind of a background record.
Wasn't sure what I was expecting post Velvet Underground. Just a straight forward rock record.
This album surprised me. I really liked it and wish he had lived to make a second album.
This is like a 2 1/2. I'm putting at a 3 just for Dancing Queen. It was all too much, but in small doses very enjoyable.
This is one I had listened to before. It scratches that Tom Petty itch for me.
A classic. I don't know how many times I've had conversations about this album or the music video for Closer.
The first song is great. The rest is very forgettable.
This is a long record that has not aged well. Nothing stood out to me but the gay slurs.
An easy listen. I knew a lot of the song (or covers of the songs). It's not going into heavy rotation.
Own it. Listened to it a lot. Set the tone for the next decade in a lot of ways. For better or worse the 2000s rock/rap thing won't have happened with out this record.
This is fine. It was fine when I listened to it in 1994. Never understood the massive hype around this band.
Good energy. Not sure if i'd listen to it again. Between a 3 and a 4 for me.
I knew Fast Car and liked it. She's got a good voice and good lyrics, but this is a heavy record for a cold Friday. Not sure how to place it.
This is obviously not meant for me, but Hounds of Love and Running up that Hill are great songs. The rest of the album is good if a little too theatrical.
a by the numbers rock album. Fine but not something i'd just put on
There's so much baggage that comes with MJ now. These are catchy pop songs but all i can think about is what he became.
I guess i've mellowed to Bob Dylan. Was much better then i was expecting.
Not really my thing. After i got through the songs I knew, it was a real slog.
It's fine. A little slow for me. I've never been an Elvis person.
meh. It's a so-so record from the grunge band that never really broke. I was really surprised at how well reviewed this was at the time.
This was my introduction to OutKast. I listened to this a lot in college, but i must have made a cd without the skits/interludes. Those are awful. The rest of the album is great.
This was a bit hole for me. Fits right in with all the Carly Simon and Carol King records my parents would play. Really liked it.
It's hard to get past all the current Eric Clapton baggage. Or the baggage of every ex-hippie/hippie wannabe talking to me incessantly about this band for the last 20 years. The best i can say at this point, this is a pretty standard rock album. The songs you recognize are as good as you remember them being.
Solid. Didn't know much about this band besides the jokes about the second album.
I only new the singles going in. Really holds ups. Great guitar sound.
Over the top goth/synth. Big fan of the single "This Corrosion". Enjoyed the listen.
Jazz.... Still not a fan. This album was a grind to get through
I fell down a PFunk rabbit hole a few years ago. It's a fun time. It's also need hearing where a lot of the Dr Dre/Snoop samples come from.
Not a big Who fan. This album didn't change my mind. It was fine. no real stand outs.
It was fine. I didn't connect with it. Seemed long.
The singles are still as undeniable as they were in the 80s. The rest of the album doesn't hold up as well.
Better then i had expected. Scratched a 90's nostalgia itch. It sounds like what the cool kids were listening to.
I remember hearing Sour Times for the first time. Nothing sounded like this then. Nothing sounds like it now. I've never listened to this whole album and I was missing out. btw Wandering Star is amazing, had to listen to it twice in a row.
I think this is the first Jazz album with songs i recognized. Still not a jazz fan but this might be the best Jazz album so far.
I only knew pyschocandy. This is a lot more mellow. Still a a good listen.
Judge me. I like folkie Taylor Swift. I have this on limited edition vinyl. Yeah i'm that person.
After the nostalgia wore off, it got repetitive. The singles still hold up and maybe the rest would be good in small doses.
This has one of my favorite REM songs on it. It's a great album but a little to melancholy for an everyday listen for me.
I liked this. True post punk where they could experiment with the formula.
This is a weird one for me. The production reminded me of De La Soul. None of the songs really stood out but it wasn't bad. Latifah charisma reminds you why she became an actress. Probably won't listen again.
I enjoyed it. Sounds like something i would have listened to in 2008.
Maybe a little calmer then their early stuff. Still a great listen.
Not my thing. I like Killer Queen but the rest felt like filler.
I bounced off this pretty hard. Not sure what this was about or who it was for.
Not sure what i just listened too.... Is this rock jazz? Not awful but not my thing.
I listened to this a lot when it came out. It holds up pretty well. There are still a few songs I always skip.
He's such a weird person in music. I didn't dislike this as much as I wanted to. There's no How Soon is Now or There is a Light, but it's completely listenable.
Don't think i've listened to this since the 90s. Holds up. Great opening of This is a Call and I'll Stick Around.
Between a 3 and a 4 for me. Some of the best of Prog Rock and some of it's more annoying tendencies as well. But I'd listen to it again before that last Neil Young album.
As good as I remembered. I love that big sound. A classic.
So boring. Couldn't even zone out to it because she hits those weird yodeling notes.
I only knew them from the two singles that were everywhere. This was a good listen. Some quality 90s pop/rock.
I liked it better then Definitely Maybe. Still not an Oasis fan.
I liked hearing those songs from Hackers. It just got repetitive.
I actively disliked this album. Hippies pretending to be cowboys is my new least favorite genre.
This hit a good spot for me. I really like the piano and harmonies. Also recognized a few of the songs.
It was nice to have on as background noise. Nothing really notable about it, but Dead Bodies. If the rest of the album had that energy, it would require another listen.
I listened to this a few times over the years. Never saw the movie. Pusherman, Freddie's Dead, and Superfly are really great songs. A quality listen.
It's a good album. It just doesn't live up to the promise of Seven Nation Army.
This has not aged well. The two singles are fine and I won't skip them if they came up in a mix. The rest of the album is weird reminder of what was Edgy in 1999.
This is their weirdest album. There's a lot that I like on it and there's a lot that i don't like. I always skip "The Gift" but the title track and sister ray are great.
i had never hear of this band. It was OK. I don't think I'd listen to it again.
I had heard the title track several times and liked it. Didn't realize the whole album was just the same organ sound over and over again.
It was ok. Not my preferred dance music. Maybe if i heard it out instead of in my office.
Didn't really connect with it. Wasn't a Pink Floyd person.
Bowie's Funk/Soul record. I love the singles. A pretty good listen all the way through. Not my favorite Bowie record.
I have no idea how to rate a Beatles album. It's like rating oxygen. Yes this is essential. Do you like music? Then yes, you like this album.
I wanted to turn this off when i started listening. At no point did that change for me.
I just love her voice. Not my favorite of hers, but still very enjoyable.
I was forced to listen to a lot of Sinatra in high school. I still hate Sinatra.
I don't know much about reggae. I liked this less then Bob Marley but it was fine.
This has all the things I like and dislike about Pink Floyd. Some of those songs just ring out as anthems but they're buried by baroque navel gazing. 4 because i liked it more then i disliked it.
I was more familiar with Power, Corruption & Lies. This is a great followup. Moody synths, sort of dancey, not quite as hooky as Blue Monday. Just a great Friday listen.
That's some real twangy country. Too slow pace for me and in a style I couldn't connect with.
Weird early German techno. Oddly fascinating. I listened to Trans-Europe Express and Computer Love after this. It was good rabbit hole to fall into.
I only knew them from the song in the Apple commercial. I was expecting something more dance/pop. This was ok but not really my thing.
I liked it better when i first listened to it. The hype when this album came out, made it sound like Kendrick was the new JayZ. I guess my exceptions tainted that listen through. I'm still not sure if I understand the hype. When he dabbles in jazz he completely loses me. I guess I'm stuck on late 90s early 2000s rap singles.
I know how important this band was. I know how important this record was. I've just never been a big Sonic Youth fan. That being said I liked this record more on this listen then I did 10 years ago. I'm torn on how to rate it.
Really lost me with those last 3 or 4 instrumentals. The single is great and the first half the album is good.
I was familiar with a lot of these songs going in. A good listen.
