It's never a good sign when you have to force yourself to pay attention. Deeply average with a smattering of intrigue. Lovely funk on some geetars, the occasional ear-catching lyric and a banger. But that was offset by an album that seemed to be stuck in second gear... the only temptation I was getting was to turn the fucker off.
Only listened to one song
Pleasantly surprised
Meh
Get me out of this 70s time loop
Salrightttt
My ears are oscillating between extremely intrigued and borderline climaxing. They produced this in 69'?
Good but not great. 3.5 needed.
A few pickles were tickled. Some nostalgic numbers and some crud. Didn't blow my socks off but they're loose.
Garbage by garbage was garbage
Sounds like a cross between coffee wake cup FM and bleeding gums Murphy. Manenberg revisited was a bit of a belter though
Alright but not my cuppa
Stunningly medicore
Not one to listen to while trying to do a slow run
It's a grower not a shower. Don't get me wrong it still feels very dated but some corking lines. I feel like my soul had been cleansed of all sins. Long live the herbs.
Well what a week we've had, from the wholesomeness of parsnips, lemon & thyme to the precision of GZA's metaphors. Although I'll confess, I had to look at the lyrics to truly appreciate the flow. Hoppity-hipping
NO Where's owner of a lonely heart when you need it!? Five percent for nothing has to go down as one of the worst songs ever produced?
Deffo got better in the 80s but overall not too bad
Maxed out my piano based ratings
Fluttered between a 3 and a 4 but I thought sheff would disown me if I went 3.
Starts strong some drivel in the middle though
Orange juice ft. Sunday mornings, the stuff of dreams.
Pretty f'ing d, although the album seemed to last for about 16 hours, not that I was complaining.
Chest nuts and chin nuts after all this time I finally get the Dees nutz reference. Much better than Paul's boutique. Hoppity-hippity, Snoopdog-infused goodness. Big up.
My opinion of aerosmith has never quite been the same since that rollercoaster, scarred for life.
Fine for a slow day with your cock out on the sofa and a glass of red. Not great for much else, disgustingly mediocre.
Well well well, expectations low but boy I was wrong. Dark and stormy and just what I needed to get me through on a rainy Sunday. Shades of darkside followed by hacienda soundtracks and then back into the deep depths of the underworld. This is about as close to a 5 as I'll get without giving one. 4.499999/10
Fair fucking play, Antony & the Johnsons really bringing home the bacon. I was expecting mediocrity after the first, then as if by magic, I was immersed. Initially I struggled to tell if this was a man or a woman singing and it turns out I was kinda right with whatever answer I chose. Given this new found knowledge about the band members the lyrics become all the more poignant. Shout out to Gianna Infantino for the brilliant song writing on song three. Up the Johnsons.
Only one tune listened too
Groovy first beat, although I thought it lacked some variation on the whole a rather pleasant little album. Up Marcus Garvey
Despite the budget album art it's surprisingly okay but can't say much more than that.
Which mentalists actually thought these were better than oasis?
Better than expected but a lot of background noise... WHERE ARE THE BANGERS AT!?!
Mid table mediocrity
Previously gave this a 2 or 3 but it's going straight up to a 4 due to a mixture of peer pressure, it growing on me, the absolute dogtits that have been served up the on here recently and not wanting to offend our Tone. This takes me straight back to my youth, listening to Bombay with a pear cider without a care in the world, happy days. You just can't help but think all is well with the world when this is on. I'd like to hear a little more grit/edge added, maybe even a Collab with alt-j, but hey it's 2008, what can you expect? They hadn't even heard of Brexit.
Wowzas, they're more than just the whole of the moon. This is a god damn masterpiece. I was tasting notes of rod Stewart, cranberries, U2 all topped off with some frenetic fiddling that only a fully fit Brian gleeson could match. We will not be lovers absolute banger, plenty of slower tunes to keep a lovely flow. Pair this with a glass of Campo rioja and you've got yourself an evening to remember. Kudos.

Bit much ain't it, just can't get into this punk stuff. The odd bit of alright, but other than that its teetering me towards mental instability. One or the purists I think
Need to give it another listen
Bye bye bad albums, this really is the one, an absolute classic. Even after 14 gazillion listens it still pops. Song for song has to be one of the heaviest hitting albums out there, I still think don't stop is awful, but aside from that it's pure (fool's) gold.
Rock n roll baby... Perhaps the non live version might of been better, perhaps I'm not musically adept, perhaps it is just shite, who knows. Kudos to the odd catchy riff - shout-out rocket Ronnie no 5. Album art wise, its negative marks for the yank flag. Positive marks for the Spangled expression on his face - I'll have what he's having and make it a double.
If this is music then bring on the chatGPT age
Offensively American
Don't think I've ever sat down and listened to the 'Skin-'Nérd's but I was pleasantly surprised, very easy listening. Tuesday's gone, Simple Man and Free Bird particular highlights and would all be great accompaniments to a wholesome movies end credits. Nicht so Bad
28 years it took me to realise fugees = refugees. Pretty d though.
Absolute filth
Better than atomic kitten worse all saints
Not insulting, not noticeable, not anything
Alright but certainly not great. First song sounded like the opening of a roses song.
If there's one thing we can all learn it's to never start an album with your best tune. The rest was alright though, plenty of variety across the album. I reckon with a few listens this could even reach the dizzy heights of 3.5.
Blast from the past this. Served best with camel chinos and a bottle of bulmers pear cider. Can't say it offers too much more than default though, a pretty easy listening album but could easily be any band from the time
Best served with earplugs
A crud sandwich topped with crud sauce served on a bed of crud
