Eh. An extra star for "All My Loving." I don't think this has aged well outside of Beatles fandom. The covers aren't as good as the originals, and reflect the period in which white artists co-opted songs by artists of color. Also, I understand the history of it, but the left/right separation is truly awful.
Catchy and fun, though a bit same-y.
This is like a cross between Queen and ABBA, and inferior to both.
Masterpiece.
Excellent blues rock guitar. Most songs would be improved by removing the vocals.
I haven't listened to electronic music, except for that one Enigma CD that every GenX college student had in their dorm room, but I enjoyed it. To call it "background music" is not an insult. It's a vibe.
I’m not a jazz guy but this was very fun. He is obviously great! Also we played Watermelon Man in the band and it didn’t sound anything like that.
Clearly an important early pioneer in acid rock. Groovy and fun.
A masterpiece.
The Queen.
This is a fantastic record, always inventive even if some parts don't quite work. Overall, very enjoyable with virtuosic music and vocals.
Live concerts are definitely the best way to listen to Dylan, in my view. His less-than-melodious singing style comes alive in the emotional setting of a concert, and the songs take on a richer, fuller meaning and effect.
This one is a classic, though I'm not sure how well it holds up.
Not having listened, I thought Steely Dan was rock music, and I checked Spotify to make sure I was on the right album. Blech. I kept imagining Ron Burgundy in a velvet leisure suit playing along with his flute.
very nice finger-style guitar picking, and so-so vocals. I like the song-writing as bridging the folk music revival with the politically-minded music emerging in the late 60s.
eh
I enjoyed this a lot more than I expected! So chill.
Ding, dang, dong, dong, deng, deng, dong, dong, ding, dang
I had to skip forward past the first song, Secondhand News. How is that the opener? A couple of the other tracks are also a bit too corny for me, but the bangers on here are great. I didn't know Songbird before, and really liked it.
Lemmy was one of kind, and his band knew exactly who they were and excelled at it. What rock music is more fun than this?
Lovely layers.
What an amazing voice.
Man, few things take me back to 1989 than this album. The emotion, the melancholy, the synths.
I mean, what else is there to day. A genius, the og.
Take Five is a classic jam, and the rest of it is also great.
I hated the Steely Dan album we had to listen to, and this is only slightly more endurable.
I had only heard the radio hits, but this whole album is great. It's like if U2 had been born in LA.
The synths are exquisite but the vocals sound like karaoke.
Eh. It's a great recording, there is no doubt about it, and the musicians are very talented. However, the noodling solos are much too long. I love live music, and recordings of live shows, but this isn't for me.
Perfect.
