Very pleasant and listenable, but some of the songs got a bit repetitive.
Loved it!
Bass work is more memorable than I remember!
One of my favorite hip hop albums of all time
This would be an amazing party to go to live!
It was nice background music and a very pleasant listen, but nothing really stuck out to me as memorable. I would put it on again, but I will also forget that it exists?
These are some really good songs. I underestimated the songwriting when I heard this the first few times.
Deep purple rips. Super fun to listen to. Makes me feel like I have a sweet mustache.
Still listening to it, but enjoying it very much.
What can I say? The greatest jazz album ever made.
Better than I remember. There are some low quality recorded sounds mixed in with some of the more cleanly recorded stuff, which surprised me. I tend to prefer White Zombie's La Sexorcisto for something with a ton of samples released at around the same time, but this was a really enjoyable listen.
One of my all time favorite albums. These songs are incredibly tight and inspiringly composed. So complex and technical - fantastic!
Great. Loved it.
Love the room sounds. This album is wild. I feel like it doesn’t really make sense without reading through the lyrics.
Very pleasant and listenable. None of the songs stand out to me as super memorable, but I loved it on in the background! Bummer that most of these songs are not on the DSPs - I had to listen on youtube.
Like a twisted velvet underground record. After listening it just kind of sounds like a funeral. I’m sure it’s important, but I’m not really into it.
Some amazing songs, but very hit or miss. You can’t deny when doves cry or darling Nikki, but some of the other songs are a little too out there to be listenable. Killer guitar playing though.
Saw them at Tibetan Freedom concert in 1996 when this album came out. It his album really impacted me in terms of the sound of the production and the songwriting - super quirky while sometimes pretty heavy. Punk influences, and big nirvana-esque choruses. Love this record. 2 spins today. This album is better than I remember. I think it’s near perfect.
Quirky and funky. I haven't listened to much of Peter Gabriel's solo work, and this record makes me want to hear more. It's weird as hell, but kind of fun!
Pleasant listen. Nothing really stood out, can’t remember any hooks. Kind of wallpaper music.
Interesting instrumentation. Ambitious. I’ve never heard about this band or album before - kind of weird. It’s a pretty wild listen - must have been influential? Grew on me pretty well over a couple of spins.
This is really fun. I don't think I had listened to this record all the way through and so it was a nice adventure. Such killer production and love the sound of Fagen's voice. So sooooothing.
This record is so much fun. Had to listen on YouTube, it’s not on the streaming services which is a bummer.
I really didn’t like the production on this record. Elvis’ voice was too loud, I couldn’t hear anything else in the mix. Guitars were too clangy, just kind of hurt my ears to listen to.
I had never listened to Sarah Vaughan's records. I love her voice, and she's so charming in this live recording. Very lovely record and performance.
I really loved this. Never listened to much of the smiths but this one will be played again for sure.
She's clearly an amazing singer, but I found a lot of the songs on this record pretty boring.
Such a beautiful record. Ambitious, sweeping, progressive. I love the quirky production. Huge drum sounds and enormous low end at times. Wayne's voice is so weird and quirky, but also compelling. Great to go back and spend some time with this record again.
I tried to get into this, and there are some interesting sounds in various points on the record. But overall, it's just pretty boring.
This would be a perfect candidate for a major remix. These songs are awesome, and actually sound really good. But i'd love to hear them mixed HUGE with today's sensibilities. At any rate, love this record and will go back again and again.
On the week that Ye and Ty Dolla $ign released Vultures 1, it's impossibler to listen to The College Dropout without Ye's current persona getting in the way of an honest take. He is so lost in his own ego, it's unbelievable. But The College Dropout is a GREAT album. It still sounds fresh, full of energy and hope, and a pretty decent message for young folks to grab hold of. When this came out, Kanye was someone you could feel good about rallying behind, even rooting for. He encouraged people to be better. Now he's a mess. But this record is fantastic.
Some incredible bass playing, and there are some very exciting points on the record. Nice to listen to!
What can I say, other than this is just fantastic! Very fun listen.
Never heard of this record. It's pretty solid - always fun to hear a well produced album in a popular genre that you've never heard. FEels ahead of it's time for 1989!
What a master. It's so great that we have recordings like this to hear the greats in their prime. I love Muddy Waters voice so much.
I have never listened to an Echo and the Bunnymen album before. I love it. Really enjoyed finally hearing these guys, and will explore more of the catalog for sure!
Oh boy. This is gonna be fun. So many great riffs. Amazing metal album.
Amazing performance. I can never get enough of this.
Beautiful and elegant.
Really good production sound for a 1989 record. It doesn’t sound cheesy - just big and clean tones everywhere. Some great tunes. Classic Aerosmith.
Good times is amazing, but some of the songs are too slow or way too long. Beautiful recording though.
Really great. I like check your head better but this was revolutionary when it dropped.
Not something i'd go back to but it was an interesting listening experiment.
This album is so much fun. The classics are great for a reason, but the deep cuts in the back half of the record like Mr. Grieves, Crackity Jones and No. 13 Baby made me smile. Unhinged, in the best possible way. I really wonder what the demos sounded like, I think Gil Norton probably played a big role in making some of these crazy ideas seem really cohesive and sound great together. Anyway, loved this a lot.
Epic queen. Beautiful melodies, and I didn't know any of the songs, but I enjoyed it. Production sounded a little muddy, but will spin again!
The record is beautiful. In every sense of the word.
So. Much. Energy.
One of the best quirk pop albums of all time!
