Generally quite "easy listening" but no really enjoyed the general vibe! Opening track is really good!
Wow, how did I not know this album existed?! Not a massive Metallica fan but I do really like their music, and adding an orchestra is pretty damn cool. Extremely dramatic, essentially a Greatest Hits with added strings. I like!
I don't like Bruce Springsteen from singles I've heard on the radio, so I thought I'd give this album a chance. Nope, I don't like it. At all. I genuinely struggled to listen because I absolutely hate his voice. The music is fine, Adam Raised a Cain has some absolutely awesome lead guitar stuff in it, but that's where the good stuff starts, and ends. Nope.
Felt like I was in an elevator or shopping centre, it was very ambient gentle jazz! Didn't really do it for me but it had a nice chilled vibe!
Quite boring, all just blends into a hillbilly jingle jangle!
Decent, not heard of the band but knew one song. Didn't blow me away but it was aight!
Didn't listen properly but erm yeah, what was that?!
Wow, at first I thought this was a Greatest Hits, what solid openers! A really eclectic delve into 80s synth, Waking the Witch is such a weird trip of a song but I loved it. I was only listening through my phone but the amazing use of stereo panning, the weird pitch shifted voice etc would sound incredible through a hifi late at night with a glass of wine! Really eerie, atmospheric and beautiful. Loved it.
Enjoyed this, some twiddly guitar and good bass work. Enjoyed Iron Maiden without Bruce, as his voice grates on me!
Not a fan, just guitar feedback and drony, angsty vocals. Noise!
I actually enjoyed this a lot more than I expected. It's very much 'hold music' but it's surprisingly satisfying, and worked very well as background music whilst working!
Thought that this would be a vibe, something with an atmosphere that could work as background music. Nahhh, not a fan.
Didn't have high hopes but actually really enjoyed this. Long instrumental intro to opening track really drew me in, then the singing started. Ugh. Not a fan of the vocalists voice but the instrumentals are bang on. Solos are long and technical without descending into five minutes of twiddly widdly. My Creation has a wicked bit of double bass pedal toward the end. Poison Was the Cure had an interesting palm muted bass intro. Overall, decent. Hate their imagery though!
Proper 60s jam, loved it!
Thought it was going to be a full blown reggae album and was quite excited, but then it just descended into a mush of genres that just did not do it for me. Not unlistenable, hence 2 stars, but not great either.
This was quite a bouncy little jam. Expected it to be awful but it was alright! It did sound like a parody band though 😅
Relaxing, funky, was waiting for the plumber to come in and fix the pipes. Bam bam chicka wow wow.
Loved the instrumental opening with the samples! Was thinking this hadn't given us enough hip hop or rap!
It's a funny one, this is. It's got a real mixture of 'edgy Blur' mixed with rap, then the absolute bangers they released as singles, Clint Eastwood and 19-2000. Clint Eastwood is a sick tune and always will be. My 4 star rating is based on the bangers rather than the more missable album filter tracks. Plus I liked the gimmick of them being an 'animated' band when they first came out!
Loved the gentle, big band style of this- did remind me of Christmas music due to the arrangements and recording style, but that's no bad thing!
I liked it! Opener was a definite highlight and an awesome track to start an album with. Rest of the album wasn't quite so good, but I still enjoyed it!
I like CCR, so was looking forward to this. It's alright, not a standout album, and to be honest it was on repeat and I didn't realise until the singles played again that the album had played through, the songs are quite similar sounding! Guitar solos are quite repetitive and seem to focus around one note or bend and that was a little challenging to listen to! Probably a 3.4, so rounding down to 3!
Wow, I was excited to see this. Been listening to this since it came.out, I have it on CD, Vinyl and have watched Muse perform it multiple times live. Needless to say, I'm a fan. This album is a work of art, from start to finish each track in isolation is fantastic and beautifully written (Matt Bellamy is an absolute master of his craft) and his classical influences come in with some of the beautiful chord changes that just get you in the feels! Soldier's Poem is the lowest point in the track but even that's great! A short, 3/4 waltz that sounds jolly but the words are actually quite bleak, lol. Then the album finally builds to that fantastic, jump worthy riff at the end of Knights of Cydonia. Ugh, so so good. My first 5 star, I've been waiting for something like this to give it to!
Never heard of this band but did recognise a couple of songs. Not mind blowing but it did grow on me. I like the typical 70s fuzzy tone of the guitars, very T Rex!
Madonna is nan absolute icon and, though I've not listened to many of her albums all the way through, when I have I've always enjoyed. This was no different, a genuinely enjoyable album that's very 'of it's time '
Enjoyed this more than expected! Some nice relaxed numbers and some with a surprising amount of groove!
Only heard one or two songs by these guys so it was cool to hear a whole album. Nice funky vibe!
Absolute rubbish. Noise and more noise..almost turned it off three tracks in!
It was okay. Joni Mitchell has a lovely voice.
I'm not a fan of 15 minute long songs. Had to turn it off on second listen through as I just got. So annoyed with it 😅
Really enjoyed this, didn't expect to! Some good riffs, Jellybelly being a track that stood out to me! As well as Zero (I think it was called?)
A weird one, sounded like a musical soundtrack. Definitely one of those 70s weird albums. Not sure if it was comedy or not, the album title makes.me think yes!
At first I quite liked this, thought it had a Kate Bush ambience to it, then it got a bit too droney and a bit too weird and I lost interest!
It's Led Zeppelin, I love them. They're one of the reasons I picked up a guitar.
A bit boring, blended into the background and just sounded like a generic hip hop beat. Probably didn't give it the sit down and listen attention it needed, but not sure I want to now!
An absolutely superb, career defining album. MJ may have had an interesting personal life and some questionable decisions, but his music was brilliant and this album sums that up. More like a Greatest Hits than an album, so many big tunes! Even the album tracks I didn't know (not many) were ace. A rare 5 star from me!
Didn't expect to like this but it was superb, great composition and music that is honestly timeless. A modern day songwriter could release these and they wouldn't be out of place in 2024. Great stuff.
Really odd, it sounded like 1960 but it was 2010 or something? But yeah, it was okay but decidedly meh. Sorry!
Recipe for this album: Take blues structure Speed it up Choose one sentence Repeat it over and over Shout "woo" and scream Repeat until you have a full album.
Enjoyed this because I felt like my car had bouncy air suspension and chrome spinners the second I played it. Lots of N word though!
Very boring..not unlistenable hence 2 stars, but not great!
A great album, my mom used to play this a lot so brought back some ace memories <3
