Obviously a classic, definitely need a couple more listens tho. RIP Ian
I WANNA BE YOUR SLEDGEHAMMER
I bet this guy was like Juice Wrld for the 60s. Would have loved to have hot head listening to this. Wont ever be listening to it again though, respectfully
Wouldn’t it be funny if ‘Crack Rock’ was called Black Cock.
4.5/5
Some nice tracks, shame they’re mainly about getting shagged by men with massive cocks or they might have ended up on my playlists.
Some alright tracks but a pretty generic Brit pop album that doesn’t do much to stand out.
3.5/5.
The vibes on this are incredible. A little repetitive but I’m a real sucker for a jazzy sax solo
Won’t be coming back to it
Fun, fast paced, nice guitar riffs, nice hooks, great tracks. Enjoyed it from start to finish. PUNKS!
Daft Punk for scary people
How do you make a guitar do that?
3.5, imagine big booty butts, big booty, boobies too, just imagine a big pair of boobs and a butt
This album is iconic. The songwriting is top notch, the way he sings is full of emotion, the songs are great with some massive tracks, even the filler songs play their part and the way it flows from one song to the next is lovely. Even the album cover is special. When it comes to giving a 5, it’s down to personal preference and this album makes me feel a special kind of way. It’s a shame we didn’t get more of Jeff Buckley but what we got from this one album is more than most artists will ever contribute in their whole career.
Surprised me how much I enjoyed it, great songwriting. Moody bloke but it’s all part of the mystique
2.5/5
Annoying voice and mixed like shit
Sounds like the Monsters inc theme
Not their best but still great
1.5
Every song sounds the same. Their biggest hit is a cover, says it all…
3.5
This came out in the same year England won the World Cup and still sounds this good
3.5
Preferred the first half compared to the end. Still a good album
What a voice. The album that resurrected Tina’s career too.
Didn’t mind it, but won’t be coming back to it
Gave this 2 listens and enjoyed it, but didn’t really sit with me.
After looking up online how much of a classic this was, I decided to go back and give it one more go with more attentive ears. I’m glad I did because it is fantastic.
The songwriting is great and so is the singing. Lovely album and can see why its got such a good reputation. 1968?!?!
4.5
A masterclass in sampling.
In a time before the digital age, you can only imagine how on earth the Dust Brothers put together this album. It’s jam-packed with creativity, flowing from one song to the next, which the Beastie Boys pair with excellently.
Then just as you think they can’t fit anymore into a densely filled album, they drop a 12-minute song, split into 9 sections that have 24 samples spread across it.
HOW DID THEY MAKE THIS?!
3.5
Very very nice background noise.
A lot more uplifting than I anticipated which was nice. Can’t say it really stuck with me emotionally, but it was very pleasant to have on as I was doing some writing.
Some great songs in here though.
Pretty dull. Not quite sure how this made it on the list
Tony is saved as brown sugar on my phone
Decided to be more lenient with what I consider a 5.
When it comes to the Beatles, you might assume they’re overrated. That is until you listen to their catalogue. Beyond the big hits, they have so many beautiful songs and this album is full of them.
It's is so soothing that takes you to different places looking at love, regret and living in a fucking yellow submarine.
For an album to come out in 1966 and still sound this good speaks volumes about what a generational band they were. I absolutely loved this album.
Only listened once, still a nice album though
The who What’s are coming now?
2.5
Maybe if I gave it more time I’d enjoy it more, but I’m not going to do that. Not for me this, too slow and odd.
I liked it! Something different and interesting
Big fan of this. It was a lot cheerier than The Boatman’s Call, probably because he was still knobbing PJ Harvey at this time.
Always liked it when an album sticks to one clear narrative, on this case MURDER! Can see this influencing Hellfire by Black Midi.
Songwriting is so good and Nicky C’s creepy little voice hooks you in. Don’t think I’ve ever heard someone say ‘Motherfucker’ in a better way.
3.5
Enjoyed this, I’m a sucker for a bit of country.
Fire and Rain hit me deep in my core, what a lovely song.
Expected better.
ROXXXXXXANNNNNEEE
4.5
AND YOU MAY FIND YOURSELF, REVIEWING A TALKING HEADS ALBUM ON A RANDOMLY GENERATED WEBSITE. AND YOU MAY FIND YOURSELF GIVING THAT AKBUM A 4.5. AND YOU MAY ASK YOURSELF, HOW DID I GET HERE?!
I love albums that sound completely out of time from when they were released and this is one of them. 1980? these crafty bastards.
I found it a lot more groovy than first anticipated and of course ‘Once in a Lifetime’ is a big banger - even if I do prefer the Kermit the Frog version.
It’s a classic. Enough talking and give me head!
How the fuck has this ended up on a list of albums to listen to before you die? Fucking shite
1.5
Didn’t even bother finishing it. Again how the fuck is this on a this list. What a load of shit
Actually didn’t mind this, not my first rodeo with long ambient albums.
Still don’t understand how it’s made it on this list mind you.
Would still rather listen to 1 hour of this than 1 second of The Lemonheads
Some classics on this. More N-Words being said than a night out at the Beehive
Wish I gave Paul’s Boutique a 5 :(
3.5
Its Frank Sinatra, he's got a nice voice with some songs that everyone knows. He’s like Ed Sheeran in a way, expect he’s not a sell-out ginger fuck who isnt ugly as shit and frok Ipswich
2.5
Got bored, wasn’t bad but won’t be coming back ever again.
Lick my asshole Grant Lee Buffalo
There’s a reason this era of hip-hop is called ‘the golden age’ when you had groups like PE putting out albums like this.
They took the samples and intensity of It Takes a Nation Of Millions to Hold Us Back’ and came back with a more focused and sharp record.
It’s just a great listen from front to back, Chuck D has a great presence, alongside Flava Flav and Terminator X who once again delivers colourful and crazy beats (remember this was done before digital tech)
The message was relevant then and it’s just as relevant. FIGHT THE POWER
Great album, one of their best
