1001 Albums Summary

Can appreciate the soulfulness of this album and the amazing vocals, but it may just be a bit too deep for my tastes, especially during the 13 minute version of Papa was a Rolling Stone, which tends to drag on. Great album, just not one I think I would go back to.

Perfect debut album from start to finish. A timeless classic!

While not really my type of music, I can see the talent. I could listen to 90's hip-hop and rap over today's auto-tuned garbage any day!

I love the two songs on this album that were decent singles (Movin on Up and Loaded), so I was interested to hear the full album. The rest of the album is a nice collection of musical experimentation and I enjoyed it, but most of it is easily forgettable ambient background music. Some of the repetitive 6 - 8 minutes songs could have been pared down to 4 minutes at the most as they went on a bit too long.

As an avid Ramones fan, I'm sorry I never properly listened to Brit punk bands like the Buzzcocks. This is a simple, powerful punk album and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

An absolute classic!

Fast and frenetic. While I do enjoy punk music, I just don't get this... I listened to 16 songs in 15 minutes. Now what do I do?

Most of this album sounded like a mix of Stone Temple Pilots and the many post grunge alternative bands with "The" in their name (The Strokes, The Hives, The Killers, etc.) Only those bands did it better. They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Unfortunately, this album is not very flattering... Very forgettable.

I am very familiar with the few singles that were released from this album, but NIN was never really a band i connected with. I did enjoy this album more than I expected.

Somehow not one of my favorite Prince albums. I think 1999 and Little Red Corvette have been too played out and may have caused me to disconnect with this album.

Great album from start to finish. The introduction of synthesizers was the perfect bridge from the David Lee Roth era to the heavy synth use of 5150 with Sammy Hagar as frontman.

Great classic album by TFF with some iconic 80's hits. Only topped by their Sowing the Seeds of Love followup, which I thought was a stronger and more enjoyable experimental release.
