Who's Next
The Who
Already listened to it before this challenge!
Its a perfect album!
Baba O'Riley is a perfect opener
The Song Is Over is awesome, so is Getting In Tune
Going Mobile (which was supposed to be in the scrapped Lifehouse) and My Wife are underrated
Behind Blue Eyes is awesome as well
Wont Get Fooled Again is incredible and also my favourite song off the album!
Although I like "Love Aint For Keeping", I have to say it is my least favourite unfortunately.
Overall, one of my favourite albums of all time and definitely worth a listen for someone who has never heard The Who before!

Brothers In Arms
Dire Straits
Already heard this one before this challenge.
Dire Straits are (well...were) an awesome band. Mark Knopfler is an fantastic guitarist and also a great songwriter (sure, he can get cheesy at times, but still-), and this album is Dire Straits's biggest achievement. Not sure if I can say this is my favourite album from them, I kinda enjoy Making Movies a bit more, but its safe to say this is a close 2nd favourite. It balances pop rock/new wave energy and atmospheric, ballad-y, introspective vibes really well.
"So Far Away" is a great opener.
"Money For Nothing" is a classic, of course. I can say this song has my favorite intro in a song (Sting's vocal intro, those synths, those drums and THAT riff, which sure, is overplayed, but its iconic, and also can be hard to master when learning it, especially for a guitarist).
"Walk Of Life" is one of my favorites because of its positive vibe. Gives me stadium vibes, but in a good way.
"Why Worry?" can be seen as a love song, but I also see it as a comfort song. Whenever I think about the horrors that are happening in this world, I put this song and I feel much better.
Most of Side A is awesome, but Side B reduces the quality a bit, still good, but I spin tracks from side B quite rare.
The title track is the CLUTCH of this side, which is why I say its another favorite song of the album.
This was supposed to be Dire Straits's 'goodbye' album, but they came back in 1991 with On Every Street.
Overall, great album, great messages throughout the songs, a classic 80s album that I go back to quite often actually. Definitely a must-hear, and also a great starting point for someone who has never listened to Dire Straits before or someone who only knows the band's hit songs.
-favourite songs: So Far Away, Money For Nothing (<3), Walk Of Life (<3), Why Worry?, the title track (<3)

Marquee Moon
Television
I already listened to this album before the challenge!
A CBGB Classic!
Marquee Moon is one of those albums that is a punk album, but doesnt sound like your usual, fast-paced punk album (it can go fast, but not in traditional punk way, more like in an artistic/jazz-y way). This is one of the albums that put New York City on the map (same with The Velvet Underground's debut, Sonic Youth's "Daydream Nation", The Strokes's debut, Ramones's debut or even Talking Heads (their first 4 albums) - there are more awesome New York City-based albums tho-). This is an essential art rock/art punk album! Tom Verlaine is one of my favorite guitarists, mainly because of his work on this album! This album is pure poetry (same goes for either the first Velvet Underground album or Patti Smith's "Horses").
"See No Evil" is an energetic intro. I love the guitars.
"Venus", I used to quite overlook, but now I spin it a lot. Its an interesting song, lyrically.
"Friction" is good as well.
The title track is probably my most favorite song of all time. Lyrically, is the most poetic song, and that guitar solo is just...*mwah*.
"Elevation" is so weird its catchy, with those guitars and that chorus.
"Guiding Light" is another one I overlooked a lot, but spinning it again is an experience. That guitar solo is beautiful.
"Prove It" is also awesome. It took me a while to finally understand what case I have been working on so long.
While I enjoy "Torn Curtain", it doesnt compare to the tracks mentioned before and unfortunately, its my least favorite (but it is not a bad song by any means, I like the ending).
Overall, this is a perfect album, an amazing album, an incredible guitar album. And of course, a must hear. One of my favorites. I go back to most of the songs on this album often and I get the same energy I got from my first listen. I could glaze this album for a few more paragraphs, but I cant. And as a bonus, I have this album on CD, to "prove" just how much I love it. Listen to it if you havent!!
-favorite songs: all of them (except Torn Curtain)
-least favorite song: Torn Curtain (still a good song)

Heroes
David Bowie
Already listened to it before, but why not listening to it again?! :)
"Heroes" is the second album from Bowie's Berlin Trilogy ("Low", "Heroes", "Lodger"). This Berlin Trilogy was Bowie's way to detox himself from cocaine, so he moved from LA to Berlin with Iggy Pop (from The Stooges) to detox themselves there, and yet, these guys made incredible music there.
If you had to ask me what's my favorite of the trilogy, its either "Low" or this one, it changes often :).
This album is incredible, and like "Low", it has a cohesive first side, and the second side goes into the experimental, electronic, krautrock stuff influenced by the likes of Kraftwerk, NEU!, Tangerine Dream and more.
"Beauty And The Beast" is so energetic, Bowie's performance on this one is awesome. Love it!
The title track is a classic. It does remind me of The Velvet Underground's "I'm Waiting For The Man", because of the metric throughout the song. And if this isn't enough proof, Bowie has always been vocal about his love for the New York City-based band.
"Sons Of The Silent Age" is such a beautiful song. It's an uplifting song. I love it. I love it's message.
"Blackout" is another an energetic one. Awesome track.
"V-2 Schneider" is an homage to the late electronic legend, Florian Schneider of Kraftwerk fame (Rest In Peace, Florian), which is why I have respect for this song in particular, even though Florian was alive during this era of Bowie.
Now from here, we have an ambient trilogy with the next 3 tracks ('Sense Of Doubt", "Moss Garden", "Neuköln"). I love each of the 3 ambient tracks.
"The Secret Life Of Arabia" is the only track on the second side on which we have Bowie singing. This track foreshadowed what was gonna happen on the final Berlin album, "Lodger", due to the world music influences. I also love it.
Overall, I love (almost) every track on this album. "Joe The Lion" was my least favorite, it's just, the strangest song on the album for me. Near perfect album, and I would love to listen to it often, and I recommend you to do the same :)
-favorite songs: all of them (except Joe The Lion)
-least favorite song: Joe The Lion

Revolver
Beatles
Already heard this Beatles classic!
At first, I didn't quite get the hype for this album (or for The Beatles in general), but after listening to Abbey Road for the second time, I completely changed my opinion on this influential band. Revolver isn't my favorite Beatles album (that being Abbey Road), but it's most definitely an amazing album, that I finally understood on my second listening experience (an listening experience to me = listening to the album for 2-3 times to form an full opinion on it), this being my third one.
What is there to say about Revolver that hasn't been said before? From the classics that are on it? That classic, amazing album cover?
"Taxman" is the opener for this album. This is George's satire piece on the high levels of progressive tax taken by the British Labour government of Harold Wilson. Energetic song as well.
"Eleanor Rigby" is groundbreaking, because at that time, The Beatles were mostly known for writing love songs, but they proved themselves to be much more better than that, and this song is proof of that. It goes into the feeling of loneliness. And it's also the only song on this album, where no Beatle sings at their instruments, but only the orchestra. Genius!
If there is a song I can relate to, "I'm Only Sleeping" is that song.
"Love You To" is another favorite of mine. I just like George's sitar! And the lyrics are also great.
I can't believe I was such an idiot for disliking "Here, There And Everywhere". I don't know what I was on back then. This song is so beautiful, definitely playing this at my wedding!
I love "Yellow Submarine"!... Okay? It's a kids song, I know! But...*sniffs* I am still a kid on the inside! Don't make fun of me please! *cries* I want my mommy! MOMMY! WHY ARE PEOPLE SO MEAN?! *sobs* (ok, this is stupid, I'll stop this. But still, I love this song, because it's so innocent, unlike most of this album's songs. It's a fun little innocent song!) Anyways, there will be days I will sing that chorus in such random moments. "WE ALL LIVE IN A YELLOW SUBMARINE! YELLOW SUBMARINE! YELLOW SUBMARINE!" 🗣️. Also, all this time, I thought Paul was singing the song, but it was actually Ringo 🙏🏻
Most of side A is perfection (I also like "She Said She Said", but it's backstory is a bit weird)
And side B is mostly amazing, but not near perfection, like the previous side.
My favorites of side B are "For No One", "Got To Get You Into My Life", and of course, the psychedelic closer, "Tomorrow Never Knows", which is probably my favorite song on the entire album.
"Doctor Robert"...it's a great song, sure! But not the one I would go back to so often. There are no bad songs on this album, but if I really had to pick a least favorite, it's this one. I'm sorry!
Overall, amazing album! Getting this album today made my day much better! If you haven't listened to it yet, please do so! It's a classic!
-favorite songs: "Taxman" (<3), "Eleanor Rigby" (<3), "I'm Only Sleeping", "Love You To", "Here, There And Everywhere" (<3), "Yellow Submarine", "For No One", "Got To Get You Into My Life", "Tomorrow Never Knows" (<3)

The Queen Is Dead
The Smiths
Already listened to this one!
"The Queen Is Dead" is an indie classic. Some of The Smiths' best performances are on this one. Morrissey is an awful person outside of music, and that's a shame, because he is an cool singer. Johnny Marr is one of my favorite guitarists. That album cover is classic.
Most of the tracks on this album are fucking fantastic! First time I heard the album, I didn't give it that much praise, but after 2 or 3 listenings, I finally get it and I fucking love it!
The title track opens the album. I love the usage of "Take Me Back To Dear Old Blighty" at the beginning, but most of the song is cool, from that drum intro, to Morrissey's baritonal vocals, to those lyrics. This is a favorite of mine.
"Frankly, Mr. Shankly" is a short one, but I like its meaning, and I like the part from 0:39 seconds.
"I Know It's Over" is my most favorite song on this album. I love the vocal progression. The lyrics are so meaningful to lots of people out there.
"Cemetry Gates" is an up-beat one, but the imagery of the lyrics is a dark one. It was my most favorite for a while, it's still a favorite of mine.
I fucking love "Bigmouth Strikes Again"! That's all I can say
"The Boy With The Thorn In His Side" was the first single for this album, and for good reason. It's a dance-y one. (And I apologize to the people reading my reviews for not being that good at giving reasons on favorite tracks)
"Vicar In A Tutu" is a little underrated. I love the meaning of "living life however you want".
"There Is A Light That Never Goes Out"...what else can we say about this one? Other than that it's a classic! One of the best love songs of all time! One of my favorite songs of all time! The most popular Smiths song, but I am not mad at it! It absolutely deserves it's popularity and praise!
And here is the album closer, "Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others". I like this song, it's energetic, and I like the chorus.
Overall, fantastic album! A representative album for Manchester! Near perfect album, but "Never Had No One Ever" is my least favorite. One of the best 80s albums. My favorite Smiths album (just like other people's favorites)! An album worthy of it's praise! You get something from these 10 tracks in nearly 40 minutes. Each song is it's own world. Check this one out if you haven't yet!

John Lennon
-this is a great album
-it has a calm vibe, like lying in bed on a rainy day
-the production does remind me of Let It Be at times, considering that Phil Spector produced it
-this is my first Beatles solo album I ever listened to
-John's writing on this album is great, but there is one song in particular that I dont like the lyrics of, "How Do You Sleep". Think of this song as a diss track, towards the person John considered a brother at one point, Paul McCartney. Considering these two were the best of friends some point in time, for John to write this song, it's a little sad. It does sound good, I'll give it that.

Highway 61 Revisited
Bob Dylan
Already heard this before, but why not relisten.
If "Bringing It All Back Home" was a bridge from acoustic to electric since that album has a half electric guitar / rock work, and half a singer-songwriter / acoustic guitar side, this album is the full transition from acoustic to electric for Dylan. For me, personally, didn't get why Dylan got backlash for this movement (ok, I get that people liked him as a singer-songwriter acoustic type of musician, even I have an admiration of Dylan's acoustic music, but I don't find a reason to boo Dylan for going electric), because he definitely didn't lose his magic in his voice and lyrics, and of course, dropped this album which is widely considered his best album.
This thing is a classic.
It's incredible. Its THE Folk Rock album.
This is the album that got me into Bob Dylan in the first place.
His Lyrics are so fucking amazing, and here's why: well, besides Dylan being a genius writer, the second best part about the lyrics is that they are open to so many interpretations, since the lyrics on this album are very cryptic.
Dylan is a poet.
What else to say about "Like A Rolling Stone" that hasn't been said before? One of the greatest songs of all time. One of my favorite songs of all time. Lyrics are top, instrumentation is top. This song is incredible, let's just get to the next song.
"Tombstone Blues" is a catchy one. Lyrics, again, amazing. I overlooked it upon first listen, why would I do that? I dont know.
"It Takes A Lot To Laugh, It Takes A Train To Cry" is an underrated song.
"Ballad Of A Thin Man" is a satire of a Mr. Jones, who isn't just a person, rather the press at the time, since Dylan wasn't at the best of terms with the press, and this Mr. Jones is someone who probably isn't up to date with the counter-culture Dylan was a part of at that time. And this track a favorite of mine.
"Queen Jane Approximately" is another favorite.
The title track also rocks.
"Desolation Row" is one of the best songs ever written, period. One of my favorites as well.
Overall, a classic of his and for the folk genre. A must listen. One of the most groundbreaking albums to come out of New York.
-favorite songs: Like A Rolling Stone (<3), Tombstone Blues, It Takes A Lot To Laugh; It Takes A Train To Cry, Ballad Of A Thin Man (<3), Queen Jane Approximately (<3), the title track, Desolation Row (<3)

Mudhoney
-this is a perfect album (EP actually, I listened to the original release, only those 6 tracks, not the others that the latter release has, keep in mind)
-this is grunge before Nirvana (or any of the big 4) came around (even Kurt loved this album)
-it's energetic
-I FUCKING LOVE THE ALBUM COVER RAHHH! It matches the sound this album is going for and I love this type of punk rock energy
-lyrics are pretty sarcastic I'd say
-it's noisy at times (and I love that when its done well, here is definitely the case)
-favorite songs: all of them (again, the 6 tracks the EP has)
-least favorite song: N/A

The Man Machine
Kraftwerk
Already heard it, but why not.
Kraftwerk is arguably the second most important band behind The Beatles. In fact, they are The Beatles of electronic music. I love Kraftwerk. One of my favorite bands of all time, and this album is pretty much perfect.
All the songs are bangers. All of them!
This album focuses on the contrast of humanity and machinery. A theme that was also used in the 1927 classic film, "Metropolis" (Incredible movie). In fact, this album has a track called "Metropolis".
It has the singles: "The Robots", "Neon Lights", and of course, "The Model".
"Spacelab" is epic "space disco"-like music.
The production on this album is fucking amazing! It's so sharp! So clear! And reminder: This was in 1978! And it sounds like an album from another dimension from another year, like 2199.
Even if I get sick of one of the songs of this album (hello "The Model"), that doesnt mean the song sucks. I still love the song, but I dont listen to the specific song, until it feels refresh.
Yeah, this is perfect. Definitely their best album in my eyes, and if there is an album that is as close to perfection as Man Machine is, that is Computer World (which sadly didnt make the 1001 Albums book).
Kraftwerk are so ahead of their time. Their influence on music is just mesmerizing to look at. Like, how these German guys from the Krautrock scene create some of the most mesmerizing electronic music (just like how Jim Morrison prophetized) and have a huge influence on genres like post-punk, synth-pop and hip hop is beyond me. Their concepts on albums like Autobahn, Radioactivity, Trans Europe Express, this one, Computer World, even Tour De France are very fucking creative and very well put.
Love this album, love this band. I could praise it for hours.
Rest In Peace, Florian Schneider! 🙏🏻🕊️

My Generation
The Who
Already heard it, but why not relisten?
The debut album from the legendary British Invasion band, The Who.
This album is pretty groundbreaking. The Who went for a raw sound on this album, influencing genres like Hard Rock, Punk Rock, Heavy Metal. Pete Townshend's songwriting is also pretty different from other bands at that time, because Pete wanted to write lyrics that teenagers can relate to, and he succeded to do so (for example, tracks like the title track, of course, and The Kids Are Alright).
While I enjoy this album, this is not the best Who album. The Who made way better albums from this point forward. I love the conceptual direction they took with the "A Quick One While He's Away" track, then with The Who Sell Out, and the groundbreaking rock opera, that is Tommy (also Quadrophenia, which is the better rock opera, as much as I love Tommy), and what would have been, Lifehouse (now known as Who's Next). But I like the mod, pop-y vibes of this album. It does sound like it was made in the 60s.
Fun Fact: This album was released on the very same day The Beatles released Rubber Soul and also the very same day Bob Dylan was at his press conference in San Francisco
I like the cover of James Brown's "I Don't Mind"
-favorite songs: Out In The Street, I Don't Mind, Much Too Much, the title track (<3), The Kids Are Alright (<3), It's Not True
-least favorite song: I'm A Man

Master Of Puppets
Metallica
Already listened to it, so why not re-listen?
Metallica's breakthrough album.
This is THE Metal album!
This album is incredible. Arguably their best, and my second favorite (my first being Ride The Lightning)
Most of this album is a banger (I also like Leper Messiah, but its not one I revisit a lot)
Definitely an album that helped expand my musical horizons.
Last album with Cliff Burton (Rest In Peace)
Where do I even start?
Should I start with how energetic and amazing "Battery" is?
With how iconic and amazingly written the title track is? (Fuck you to the elitists who hate on those who discovered the song through Stranger Things, if there are still any today)
With how much I overlooked "The Thing That Should Not Be" more than I should have?
With how incredible and beautiful is "Welcome Home (Sanatarium)"?
With how epic and still relevant "Disposable Heroes" is?
With how much of an masterpiece "Orion" is? Cliff is killing it on that bass! This track is HIS!
With how haaaard does "Damage, Inc." go?
With how iconic, genius and instantly recognized the album cover is?
With how relevant some of the themes this album talks about (control and the abuse of power)?
I dont know!
(sorry for this glaze)
but yeah, FUCK YEAH IT IS A MUST HEAR! I encourage you to listen to it, if you havent!
Love it
