Popular Reviews

Be by Common

I used to be a big fan of this album, it definitely has some great tunes on it, but Common gets a little bit corny sometimes. A lot of the beats on this have that old school Kanye feel though which I absolutely love. Oh how about that it was produced by Kanye, crazy how recognizable his style was back then. Overall a great album.

Hard Again by Muddy Waters

This is pretty good, classic blues stuff, not a ton that really stands out in any big way, but it's good straight forward blues guitar playing. Good stuff, great background jams.

lol Never heard this one, are these guys big? God it's so good every time, such a perfect album.

The Next Day by David Bowie

Never really liked David Bowie, even though I know everybody raves about him. His voice has never done it for me, I can't imagine I'm going to like it more when he's old. Yeah I don't love this. The music isn't really all that bad, but man his voice sounds old. I don't know what it is, I just don't really like David Bowie. Can't say I didn't try.

A Love Supreme by John Coltrane
Sep 26 2024

Incredible musicianship, just pretty chaotic to listen to, not sure if it's for me.

Elvis Presley by Elvis Presley
Sep 27 2024

Elvis's whole vibrato thing in his voice gets a little obnoxious, but this ain't bad. Hilarious how dated all of the lyrics are, and in general just his singing style is super rooted in that era, doesn't translate all that well to today IN MY OPINION. I think all the songs are just like classic 12 bar blues tunes that he decided to record.

Blur by Blur
Sep 30 2024

Pretty cool stuff aside from Song 2, which honestly seems like a weird fit with the rest of the album, solid song just so wildly overplayed. I'm really digging the rest though, kind of an interesting alternative sound going on. Gets a little boring and one-note as it goes on.

Who's Next by The Who
Oct 01 2024

I already know well over half of these tunes, obviously an all time classic, right up my alley. I didn't realize Baba O'Riley was the album opener, gotta be one of the all time greatest album openers. Some of the deep cuts are pretty forgettable, you can tell why they weren't hits and the others were

Back At The Chicken Shack by Jimmy Smith
Oct 02 2024

Yo this is groovy as shit. Loving the chill vibes. Definitely background music, would be a great one to have on vinyl in the background playing some games. I really liked this album.

After The Gold Rush by Neil Young
Oct 03 2024

Neil Young's voice gets a little whiny and annoying, but man the song writing and harmonies are pretty great. Thankfully most of the songs have harmonies throughout. Overall a super solid album, I liked it a lot.

Oct 04 2024

Absolutely loved the first song which was instrumental... The rest of the tunes might be a liiiittle bit too much on the "smooth jazz" side for me, but they're definitely solid. Reminds me a lot of D'Angelo. I think overall it's a little bit too "I love you baby I need you in my life" for me.

Parachutes by Coldplay
Oct 07 2024

I obviously know the hits from this album already, haven't heard the deep cuts before, it's pretty good. I always discounted Coldplay back in the day as being a super lame pop band. Chris Martin has such an interesting voice, I really like it on these older tunes that are more indie/rock than pure pop that they went into later on. The production on this album is awesome, such cool vibes, I love the sounds on Spies in particular. This is the perfect morning album.

Eliminator by ZZ Top
Oct 08 2024

I obviously know all the hits from this album already. Was interesting reading the backstory and knowing that pretty much all the drums and bass were replaced by electronic drums and synths, it's really obvious now that I'm listening for it. Pretty awesome guitar work throughout. The deep cuts for the most part are deep cuts for a reason, not bad but nothing that stands out really.

Dub Housing by Pere Ubu
Oct 09 2024

Wow... This is obviously intentionally dissonant and shitty... Can't say I'm the biggest fan of "post-punk" like this. Maybe it would make more sense in the cultural moment or something, because this shit just kinda sucks listening to it today. Is that an uninformed take? Probably, but it's just not for me.

The Fat Of The Land by The Prodigy
Oct 10 2024

This basically seems like 90s rave music... not ideal for a morning listen. I'm not a huge fan of EDM so it's tough to have a well informed opinion on this kind of stuff. I enjoy some of the rapping on a couple of the tunes. I have to admit it's growing on me a bit as it goes on, I don't hate it.

...Baby One More Time by Britney Spears
Oct 11 2024

Oh boy... Can't say I've ever listened to this full album. I kinda underestimate how good of a pop song Baby One More Time is, the production is super damn good and it's catchy af. Not so sure about the rest of these songs... Not terrible to be honest, but pretty inoffensive pop nonsense. Gets a little annoying after a full album.

Parsley, Sage, Rosemary And Thyme by Simon & Garfunkel
Oct 14 2024

Scarborough Fair is such a perfect song, this is all such great morning music. The deep cuts on here are pretty good, but man the hits really stand out, just such great writing, and their voices blend so incredibly well.

Play by Moby
Oct 15 2024

Can't say I've ever heard a Moby song before, I just know him as an annoying guy in like VH1 shows. Pretty solid instrumental electronic stuff, it kinda sounds like background music to me... which I'm sure is an ignorant opinion... but it's all pretty repetitive and one-note, it definitely isn't terrible though.

The New Tango by Astor Piazzolla
Oct 16 2024

All instrumental and somewhat chaotic, but it's pretty incredible for a live performance, and they're very obviously great musicians. I don't think it's really my type of music, but it's pretty good. The mallets get a little grating to me after a while.

Oct 17 2024

I'm very familiar with this album, and a big fan of it. I haven't listened in forever, the beats are so sick. The lyrics are so interesting, he raps about stuff you don't hear a lot of other dudes rap about. I forgot about The Instrumental, I used to be obsessed with that song. Yeah, overall just a great album.

The Band by The Band
Oct 18 2024

I obviously know the hits off of this album pretty well, the other songs are pretty great too, great chill vibes. Honestly not much to say about the rest of this album, it's a good album, not too many of the tracks stand out in a huge way to me outside of the hits, but it's good.

Metallica by Metallica
Oct 21 2024

Obviously the hits are the hits for a reason... This album just sounds so unbelievably good. Pretty much every song is a banger, and the production sounds so god damn good, even now. Such a great album.

Shake Your Money Maker by The Black Crowes
Oct 22 2024

I obviously know the hits from this album, the dude has a pretty great voice, but it gets a little annoying after a while in my opinion. I can't say I love the deep cuts on here, they're not terrible but not much stands out to me, I think because Chris Robinson's voice gets to be a bit much for me.

Pink Flag by Wire
Oct 23 2024

This sounds a lot like The Clash, it has those same kind of annoying 70s punk vocals. Not really for me. As this goes on, it's growing on me a little bit, but I still really don't love the vocals.

The Specials by The Specials
Oct 29 2024

Might just not be in the mood for this one, but it's a little bit boring. Pretty interesting to hear the predecessor of all the 90s ska bands though. I like it more than a lot of the punk albums I've heard from the same era, but it isn't super up my alley. Yeah this album gets super repetitive and monotonous, pretty taxing to listen to after a while.

Pretenders by Pretenders
Oct 30 2024

I actually don't hate this, I thought I would, I'm usually not a fan of 70s/80s punky music. One thing I'm noticing is that the vocals seem SUPER high in the mix and seem to bury the instruments, which is a shame because the parts actually seem kinda cool. This one is kinda growing on me as it goes on, not a bad album.

Green Onions by Booker T. & The MG's
Oct 31 2024

Obviously recognized the song Green Onions, but I can't say I ever knew the title and artist, I didn't realize the group was all instrumental. Pretty cool laid back 60s tunes. There are instrumental versions of a lot of recognizable songs on here, kinda interesting. I wish the organ wasn't so prominent, he obviously rips on the organ but it gets a little old.

Future Days by Can
Nov 01 2024

Never heard of this band before... Seems like proggy jazz rock kind of? It's pretty cool actually, the vocals are weird and super buried in the mix though. Yeah after a while the vocals get annoying with how uninteresting they are throughout the album. I like the kinda atmospheric proggy arrangements though.

Let's Get It On by Marvin Gaye
Nov 04 2024

I only knew the title track, which I've never really listened to carefully, and man it's great. Basically all of these songs are about bonin' lol, but man they're really great, he's got such a great voice and the songs are so god damn groovy. Overall a pretty awesome album, maybe a liiiittttle bit too "smooth" throughout, but it's still great.

Pink Moon by Nick Drake
Nov 05 2024

I've only ever heard the name Nick Drake in passing, never heard his music, I definitely thought it was going to a full band psychedelic thing, not just a dude and an acoustic. It's not bad but it gets pretty one-note and I can't say I love his voice. Yeah, this gets pretty monotonous, especially with his kinda low, breathy voice.

Songs In The Key Of Life by Stevie Wonder
Nov 06 2024

Never listened to this whole album before, I didn't realize it was a double album, I know and love the hits. Wow, Contusion sounds like a Zappa song, crazy how technical some of this stuff is, going from that into Sir Duke is so awesome. Just realized that "Wild Wild West" is a sample of I Wish from this album lol, also Gangsta's Paradise from Pastime Paradise, but I already knew that one. Overall what a great album, so much awesome musicianship throughout, great writing, awesome singing, harmonies, a lot of variation across the album too.

Deserter's Songs by Mercury Rev
Nov 07 2024

Never heard of this band... Sounds like almost orchestral indie music? The guy has a pretty high and sort of whiny voice, but it's not too bad. His voice seems almost out of place, there are these grand arrangements and then he just has kind of a thin voice with weird melodies over the top. Overall I liked a lot of the music but the songs didn't super do it for me because of the vocals

Never heard of PJ Harvey before, it's pretty punky, she has the same kind of delivery as a lot of those 70s and 80s punk bands, which I'm not a super huge fan of. Yeah as this album goes on her vocal delivery gets a little grating to my ears. Overall definitely not a fan of this one.

Iron Maiden by Iron Maiden
Nov 11 2024

Never actually listened to the debut album, it's interesting to hear Maiden with a different singer. They seem overall less polished than they do later on too, it's a pretty cool sound though. They definitely still rip on guitar. There are a surprising number of ballads on this album. Also after a full album... switching singers was definitely the right move, this dude is just an okay singer.

Graceland by Paul Simon
Nov 12 2024

I'm relatively familiar with this album, the songwriting is so good, something about the production of it sounds so "80s" to me. I'm not quite sure what it is, because it's pretty eclectic, and I guess the 80s-ness of it isn't necessarily a bad thing. Diamonds on the Soles of Her Shoes is so damn good, such a cool combination of genres. I think overall my biggest problem with this album is that everything sounds really major, it all is almost too happy sounding in my opinion, I think that's what contributes to it sounding really 80s to me.

Heartattack And Vine by Tom Waits
Nov 13 2024

All I know about Tom Waits is that he has a crazy voice, never actually listened to his music before. It's honestly kind of hard to listen to, the amount of gravel in his voice is absurd, I know that's his whole schtick but I don't know if it's for me. The actual songs are pretty classic blues based which I didn't really expect, definitely not bad. I feel like the lyrics are actually really good and the songwriting is pretty good, but man I just cannot stand his voice, he sings like he's making fun of someone else's singing. Yeah this was a rough listen in the morning.

Music Has The Right To Children by Boards of Canada
Nov 14 2024

Never heard of this band, no idea what to expect, seems like it's atmospheric electronic music? Yeah, very repetitive atmospheric electronic music, very much not for me.

Lady Soul by Aretha Franklin
Nov 15 2024

Never listened to a full Aretha album, man she's got pipes. I also love the Mo-Town production style, so many harmonies and cool arrangements and stuff. It's interesting how short all of these songs are, definitely wish some of them had more to them, I guess short and sweet is cool though. Interesting that almost all of the songs fade out instead of having an actual ending.

Be by Common
Nov 18 2024

I used to be a big fan of this album, it definitely has some great tunes on it, but Common gets a little bit corny sometimes. A lot of the beats on this have that old school Kanye feel though which I absolutely love. Oh how about that it was produced by Kanye, crazy how recognizable his style was back then. Overall a great album.

Nov 19 2024

Never actually listened to this album before, it definitely still has that Queen studio production, with super overdubbed vocal harmonies and Brian May's classic harmonies. The production is a little rougher around the edges though which is interesting. Man Freddie's voice was so god damn good, he sounds insane on this album. Overall I like the album but it's definitely not their best, feels like a precursor for Night at the Opera.

Nov 20 2024

Very weird experimental music with a lot of electronic parts, I know David Byrne is the Talking Heads guy, I recognize the name Brian Eno but I'm not as familiar with him. Yeah this is definitely not for me, super atmospheric, definitely super non-traditional which I guess I respect in principle, but it's just not that enjoyable to listen to.

Led Zeppelin IV by Led Zeppelin
Nov 21 2024

Obviously already know this album in and out, what an absolute classic. Insane how many great songs are on this album, not a single dud in my mind. Not much to say about this album, it's so god damn good, vocals, guitars, drums, bass, everything sounds great and everything is so well written.

Rocks by Aerosmith
Nov 22 2024

I just know the two big hits from this album, I've never been a huge Aerosmith fan... Forgot how sick Last Child is though. I do like that's just kinda down n' dirty rock and roll, good guitar tones, good riffs, straightforward rockin tunes. Although the rest of the album is largely forgettable compared to the hits.

Green River by Creedence Clearwater Revival
Nov 26 2024

I already know the hits from this album, great tunes, never really listened to deep cuts though. Surprised how tinny and unpleasant a lot of the guitar tones are, I guess that's kinda to be expected for 1969. Fogerty's voice was so awesome though. A lot of the songs are pretty damn basic blues tunes, again though, kind of need to put your head in that era to appreciate it. The hits are the hits, other than them, overall not my favorite album, not bad by any means though.

Locust Abortion Technician by Butthole Surfers
Nov 27 2024

Wtf my review disappeared. Long story short I didn't like it at all and it was shit.

All Hope Is Gone by Slipknot
Nov 28 2024

Tried listening to this in the morning... not a good time to listen to Slipknot I don't think. Some of the riffs and grooves are pretty awesome actually, but Corey Taylor's vocals have never really been my favorite. It's pretty insane how good of a drummer Joey Jordison was. Yeah not getting through this bad boy at 8:00 AM, maybe later.

Back To Black by Amy Winehouse
Dec 03 2024

Obviously I know the hits from this album, never listened to the whole thing. The production style is pretty cool, definitely an intentional throwback. I like all the horns. Her voice gets a little annoying to me, it sounds like she's doing a character which gets kinda old as the album goes on. Yeah not bad, but it feels like a schtick to me.

In It For The Money by Supergrass
Dec 04 2024

Never heard of these guys... I expected it to be bluegrass, but it is definitely not, it sounds like 90s alternative rock, the vocals remind me a little bit of Billy Corgan when he yells. I guess it's technically britpop? In the same vein as Oasis, I don't hate it, definitely some solid songs, but I don't love it.

Bert Jansch by Bert Jansch
Dec 05 2024

Pretty cool sounding 60s acoustic folk. Gets a little boring after a bit since it's literally just one guy and a guitar for the whole album and he's not exactly a dynamic singer. He's a damn good guitar player though, some pretty impressive finger picking throughout the album. Overall not a very exciting album but not bad.

Dec 06 2024

I feel like I had their other big album in this albums thing already, it's definitely that classic brit pop sound like Oasis and stuff. I don't hate Brit Pop but it gets kinda samey to me. I think I'm just crabby listening this morning because the British accents are really bothering me. TALK NORMAL. The harmonies and melodies are actually pretty cool, but like I said, so much of this brit pop stuff sounds so similar.

Fragile by Yes
Dec 10 2024

Oh BABY. I've been on a huge Yes kick lately and have already listened to this album several times lately. Such an absolutely great album. Listening to the Steven Wilson remixes for this listen through. The talent of every member of the band is seriously absurd. I would say this probably isn't my top Yes album but man it is so god damn good.

90 by 808 State
Dec 11 2024

Oh great 80s house music. Not a HUGE fan of this, it's not as offensive as some of the stuff that's been on this list, but this stuff is just so uninteresting to me. Of the retro electronic albums I've listened to so far from 1001 albums, this one is probably one of the more listenable ones.

We're Only In It For The Money by The Mothers Of Invention
Dec 12 2024

I wish I didn't dislike Zappa so much as a person, it makes me biased against his music. Interesting that he had the take that the Beatles were disingenuous in making Sgt Pepper, seems like a pretty arrogant take for someone to have, which suits Zappa. Reading more into it, it kinda makes sense in that Sgt Peppers started a whole "fake" hippie movement that was basically just commercial. Makes sense to be annoyed by that... Zappa still just always has the "I'm the smartest guy in the room" thing about him that annoys me. The music in this is pretty interesting though, it's all over the place, pretty classic Zappa in that sense with super weird melodies and time signatures and stuff. Can't say many of the songs stand out to me as actually great songs though. Zappa also does the whisper narrator thing on a couple of other albums of his I've listened to and it's kind of annoying. I actually really like Mother People, it's proggy af. But then of course the album closes with a 6 minute dissonant nonsense piece of music.

Brutal Youth by Elvis Costello
Dec 13 2024

I can't say I've ever listened to Elvis Costello... He doesn't have a great voice. I hate how much of a theme it is in like punk and alt music to just be a shitty singer. Honestly these songs aren't that bad, but they're just pretty bland, if he was a better singer I think I'd like some of them quite a bit. God this album is so fucking long too. AWESOME. I was just looking on SputnikMusic and this isn't even like top 10 of Elvis Costello albums... why tf is this on here?

Electric Ladyland by Jimi Hendrix
Dec 16 2024

Another one where I obviously know the hits, but I've never actually listened to this whole album. In my experience Hendrix's voice wears on me after a full album, but we'll see. I definitely appreciate Hendrix more than I used to, even some of the jams are pretty awesome, his guitar playing is so god damn good, I used to think he was overrated, but I was a foolish child who only appreciated shredders. Definitely some of the lyrics get a little too psychedelic and dumb, and some of the jams are a little bit long, but overall it's pretty damn good.

Dec 17 2024

Dumb album isn't on Spotify, starting it on Youtube to see if it's worth listening all the way through. Actually pretty sweet to be honest. So far it's two funk songs about funk. Yeah this is rad, bummer it's not on Spotify. Pretty awesome musicianship, obviously groovy as shit. Yeah that was a good album, I really liked it.

Violator by Depeche Mode
Dec 18 2024

Never listened to a Depeche Mode song I don't think... pretty curious... Didn't realize they were so electronic... I probably should have known that. Definitely don't like the vocals, I think I end up feeling that way about a lot of the British new-wavey shit from this era. Overall I don't hate the music, it gets a little one-note, but I don't hate it as much as I do some of the other music from this genre and era.

Vespertine by Björk
Dec 19 2024

Never listened to Bjork before... pretty weird, definitely an artsy voice, super electronic music. Very much not a fan or her voice, it's super spacey and kinda grating. Her voice reminds me of the chick from Bob's Burgers who sings the oil spill song. Come to think of it she was almost definitely based on Bjork. This is pretty hard to get through. This might be the first album of the whole thing that I have to turn off, man I cannot fucking stand her voice. Yeah I'm a bit ashamed I had to turn it off but holy shit I hated that.

Songs From A Room by Leonard Cohen
Dec 20 2024

Never really like Leonard Cohen's voice, I know the point isn't his voice, it's his lyrics, but his voice distracts me a bit, sort of like Bob Dylan in that regard. I feel like to truly appreciate these songs I'd have to sit and focus on all of the lyrics. They kinda feel like poems put to music more than feel like great songs. Yeah didn't love this, I respect his lyrics though.

At Mister Kelly's by Sarah Vaughan
Dec 23 2024

I've never heard of Sarah Vaughan, quite interested in this, especially considering it's live. She has a really deep voice, pretty interesting, obviously very jazzy music. Pretty minimal instrumentation, sounds like maybe just a piano, drums, and bass. This is pretty good background stuff, I think it gets a little one-notey after a while, but it's overall pretty damn good.

Atomizer by Big Black
Dec 27 2024

I haven't been a fan of really any of the punk albums in this list so I don't have high hopes. Wow the production is absolutely awful on this album, it sounds like it was recorded through a shoe. This is literally horrible. I didn't realize this was Steve Albini's band, for some reason that makes sense. I'm sure he'd say some pretentious nonsense about how this music is about _pushing boundaries_ but it's actually just shit.

Hard Again by Muddy Waters
Dec 30 2024

This is pretty good, classic blues stuff, not a ton that really stands out in any big way, but it's good straight forward blues guitar playing. Good stuff, great background jams.

Bat Out Of Hell by Meat Loaf
Dec 31 2024

Welp. I've listened to this album approximately one billions times, might as well spin it again. Easy 5 stars, one of the greatest albums of all time without a doubt. Everything about it rules.

Protection by Massive Attack
Jan 01 2025

Never listened to a Massive Attack album, surprised to hear there are vocals, for some reason I thought they were like an electronic group. I surprisingly don't hate this, it's pretty good background music. I like a lot of the sort of atmospheric electronic stuff going on. Probably wouldn't be my first choice to listen to, but definitely a lot less offensive than a good amount of the stuff in this albums thing.

Emperor Tomato Ketchup by Stereolab
Jan 02 2025

I feel like I've heard the band name "Stereolab" around but I don't think I've ever listened to them. Seems like it's kind of jammy maybe? Pretty repetitive first tune. Kinda seems like all of their songs are just super repetitive. Can't say I love it. Yeah I don't really like this at all, it's all pretty boring. Is it not in English for some reason? It's pretty inoffensive in the background, 3 feels too high and 2 feels too low.

Darkdancer by Les Rythmes Digitales
Jan 03 2025

Obviously never heard of this guy, based on the title and album art... if I had to guess... it's gonna be electronic dance music and I'm not gonna like it. Surprisingly I don't hate this right off the jump, it's actually pretty groovy. The songs are pretty repetitive... Like.... super fucking repetitive. Yeah as this goes on I'm liking it less and less. Not for me.

The ArchAndroid by Janelle Monáe
Jan 06 2025

I've always kinda liked Janelle Monae, I've never listened to this album though, pretty excited to check it out. This is pretty cool, reminds me of Lauryn Hall quite a bit. There haven't been a ton of tracks that have stood out in a big way to me, but overall it's been pretty good. I'm pretty impressed with how varied the songs are, quite a few different vibes going on.

Imagine by John Lennon
Jan 07 2025

I've never actually listened to a full John Lennon solo album, curious what the songs are like outside of the obvious hits. Pretty solid, sounds just like that guy from the Beatles. HA. Man a lot of these songs are surprisingly repetitive, like I Don't Wanna Be a Soldier Mama and Give Me Some Truth, kinda just the same thing over and over. Oh yeah I forgot that there's a weird Paul diss track on this album. Overall pretty good album, not a ton of standout tracks outside of Imagine though in my opinion on one listen.

Synchronicity by The Police
Jan 08 2025

I'm really really surprised how much I liked this album, I've never really liked Sting but maybe I just didn't give him a chance, the songs on this album fucking rule, they're pretty proggy but still kinda poppy, I'm super impressed. Mother is a super obvious reference to Elephant Talk by King Crimson, but I kinda like it. Overall an honestly great album and I'm very surprised by how much I like it.

Technique by New Order
Jan 09 2025

This is pretty lame, electronic like british alternative rock? It's not aggressively bad, but it's just kinda boring. Maybe it was groundbreaking or something, but I don't love it.

Apocalypse Dudes by Turbonegro
Jan 10 2025

Hey an unknown rock album on 1001 albums that isn't just pure shit. This isn't too bad. I wouldn't say it's incredible but it's pretty solid jammin. A little punky for my tastes, but it's not bad.

Channel Orange by Frank Ocean
Jan 13 2025

Haven't listened to this album in a very long time, I remember liking it a lot. We shall see. Yeah this is great, I bet it would be even better if I sat down and tried to follow the story. But he's obviously a great singer, I love all the layered harmonies. I think my one complaint is that it stays kinda one-note for the whole album, it's all kinda that same chill R&B vibe throughout.

Jan 14 2025

lol Never heard this one, are these guys big? God it's so good every time, such a perfect album.

Pump by Aerosmith
Jan 15 2025

Never heard this album, also never been a huge Aerosmith fan, but something about just good ole fashioned rock n roll has been connecting with me lately. The sexual innuendos on this album are so fucking stupid it's amazing. Love in an Elevator is so great. Also Steven Tyler's voice is cartoony as hell, but so good. Yeah I'm really surprised how much I liked this, good album. Lots of good riffs and cool harmonies.

Solid Air by John Martyn
Jan 16 2025

Never heard of this dude, sounds like some acoustic jams? Wow holy shit this dude swallows his words. Yeah he really just mumbles throughout the whole album. Yeah I didn't like this much, it was all pretty droney, largely because of his voice.

Time (The Revelator) by Gillian Welch

All I really know from Gillian Welch is Look at Ms. Ohio, and I love that song. Curious about the rest of the album. Love the vibe, she's got a great voice for this type of music. Man I had a period of my life where I listened to so much shit like this, this is really bringing back to that, I like this a lot. Maybe gets a LITTLE bit same-y, but I like it.

Black Sabbath by Black Sabbath

It's hilarious that this music was once considered evil and scary. It's a great album though, I always forget how much it kinda sounds like traditional bluesy rock.

The Next Day by David Bowie
Jan 24 2025

Never really liked David Bowie, even though I know everybody raves about him. His voice has never done it for me, I can't imagine I'm going to like it more when he's old. Yeah I don't love this. The music isn't really all that bad, but man his voice sounds old. I don't know what it is, I just don't really like David Bowie. Can't say I didn't try.

At Newport 1960 by Muddy Waters

Didn't get all the way through this one. It was solid, but I gotta be in the mood for a straightforward old blues album like this.

Rings Around The World by Super Furry Animals
Jan 29 2025

Never even heard of this band, pretty curious about it, sounds like it's British indie? I don't hate this, the songs are pretty great, the vocals aren't great and are pretty buried in the mix but I still kinda like it, it reminds me a little bit of some of the "power pop" albums I've had on here in the past.

Aja by Steely Dan

One of my favorite albums ever. Every song, so god damn good. The production literally couldn't be better. Such a perfect album.

Catch A Fire by Bob Marley & The Wailers
Jan 31 2025

Never super loved old school reggae, I appreciate the movement and all that, but the music gets so samey after a full album of it. Yeah this is kinda hard to listen to, it might as well all be the same song.

Not the biggest Arctic Monkeys fan, pretty surprised with how technical a lot of their shit is. Overall it's not bad, I don't love his voice but it's alirght.

Green by R.E.M.

Never listened to really any full REM albums other than Automatic for the People, they definitely sound like a less mature band in this one, most of the tunes don't stand out too much, but I think it's pretty good overall. Some of the songs get a little whiny and go on for a while, but such is the way of Michael Stipe. Oh man I forgot how fucking great Stand is, what a banger.

Revolver by Beatles
Feb 10 2025

Not sure if I've ever listened to this entire album. So many awesome songs on here, the deep cuts are pretty great too. I guess calling them "deep cuts" is stupid for Beatles songs, but the ones that aren't as huge of hits. I hate the sitar song, but the rest is really god damn good.

Two REM albums in the last couple days... I know It's The End of the World but not the rest... curious if it'll be any good. This is pretty good, I'm a fan. Not much else to say lol, I like the harmonies a lot, just some good, inoffensive alternative rock.

All Hail the Queen by Queen Latifah
Feb 12 2025

Not really in the mood for old school hip hop so my review will be biased... I'm pretty impressed how good of a rapper she is, she's so famous now you don't really think of her as a good rapper. Yeah this is way too dated for me this morning, not gonna be able to get through this one. I get the gist, it's not bad, I'm just not looking for 80s hip hop right now.

Come Find Yourself by Fun Lovin' Criminals
Feb 13 2025

No idea what to expect form this one... seems like old school hip hop again. This shit is good though man, they have an interesting rock element going on along with that good old school funky hip hop, I dig it. Gets a little old as the album goes on, still not bad, but gets pretty samey.

Band On The Run by Paul McCartney and Wings
Feb 17 2025

Obviously heard the hits from this album a million times, never listened to the full album though. Band on the Run is such a great song man, this guy can sure write a song. Some of these deeper cuts are pretty hokey and not nearly as good as the bangers, but what can ya do.

LOVE this god damn album. Such great old fashioned rock n roll, insane that basically every song is a hit and it's their debut album.

Dirt by Alice In Chains
Feb 20 2025

Fucking perfect album. Obviously I've played it over and over, it's so god damn good, every part of it, so dark, so great. Amazing writing, great harmonies, what else can ya say.

Moondance by Van Morrison
Mar 14 2025

Only know the hits from this album, kinda forgot how good they are, into the mystic is such an absolute banger. I never really put much thought into how god damn good of a singer Van Morrison was. This is good shit, I like all these songs, love the horns and stuff, just overall a good piece of business.
