Nas
Hip-Hip is not really my genre, although I like some here and there. Nas is an artist I have never heard of.
Some of the samples are interesting and the vibe and delivery is a bit more chilled and laid back when compared to say N.W.A. or Public Enemy. However the lyrics could be considered \"angry\".
This album contains all the elements that Hip-Hop fans seem to love. Those who aren't into Hip-Hop like myself may find this album drags a bit.

Experimental Avante-Guarde Psychedelic Grunge Punk Art Noise Rock.
I certainly consider this a work of art as I consider all music art. Such an amalgamation of genres, feelings and soundscapes. But it's definitely not for everyone, myself included. Interesting enough listen. But wont be adding it to my collection.

Rubber Soul
Beatles
Although The Beatles and George Martin pretty early on were always pushing the boundaries of studio recording, this is their first really "experimental" album. Experimenting with new techniques and new genres. Very "Folk-Rock" with "Psychedelic" elements. George is really coming along in his songwriting here. All the songs are great. Very ahead of it's time (although all beatles albums are).
The first album on this list that I was already familiar with. Going from memory alone I was going to give it a 4. But after another listen it gets a 5. I always forget how great this album is for some reason. I enjoyed every song on it.

The Yes Album
Yes
I've always wanted to get into prog, everyone seems to rave about it. Pink Floyd, Genesis, King Crimson. And Yes. I've heard of Yes but never heard any of their stuff (except for Owner Of A Lonely Heart).
As much as I wanted to get into this album, I really couldn't. I'm not sure what it is that gets other people into this kind of stuff. I mean the musicianship is great, different time signatures. But in terms of songs and as an album I just couldn't find anything to hook me in.

10cc
I knew 10CC were always held in high regard for their early stuff as being quite artsy. But never heard anything beyond the hits. "Things We Do For Love" etc.
This album surprised me. I enjoyed it. It was a bit strange and humurous and clearly they dont take themselves too seriously. A fun album.

Blur
Never really listened to much from the 90s BritPop era, mainly because the bits I heard didnt really grab me.
I always heard about the rivalry between Blur and Oasis. And fans saying you can't be a fan of both. Not that Im a huge Oasis fan either but I would probably side more with them than Blur.
This album had a couple of songs I thought were ok. The musicianship is great. I loved a lot of the basslines and some of the guitar parts. The vocals were good but the thick English accent got a bit much after a few songs.

Kacey Musgraves
Never heard Of Kacey Musgraves. Although I dont mind some Country and some Pop, never liked the two together.
While this album had a couple of songs I thought were ok, the album as a whole dragged for me. Couldnt really see why this is a must hear.

Minutemen
I've never heard of the Minutemen before. I like punk though. And this is punk, funk, jazz, country, avante-guarde, spoken word.. etc. It surprised me. I enjoyed it. The guitar and bass really grabbed me. Being a huge fan of The Red Hot Chili Peppers this took me back to their early days in some parts.
The album did drag abit after a while though. I don't think making a double album out of it was necessary. I will be adding this to my collection though.

AC/DC
AC/DC are one of my favorite bands. Especially the Bon era. Bon Scott is one of my favourite singers. I would probably say Let There Be Rock is my favourite AC/DC album but this album still smokes. Great songs and they had their sound and formula down pat by this point. Bon Scott ended on a high note. Rest in Peace.

Dinosaur Jr.
I know Dinosaur Jr. are held in high regard in the alternative and grunge scenes. I've never actually listened to them before. And I didn't miss anything. I dont know what the big deal is. Noisy distorted fuzzy guitars and droney vocals. And I can get past that and even into it if there are some great songs behind it. But as much as I tried I could not find one song that I could get into, or even half get into. I didn't want to give this a 1 but I just can't give it a 2. I disliked it that much.

I didnt love this album but also dont fully understand all the negative reviews either. Nu Metal has never really been my thing but I got into the groove on a couple of songs. Kinda want to give it a 2 but cant quite give it a 3. Too bad 2.5 isnt an option.

The Score
Fugees
This album sounded like one song. The same beat throughout the whole thing. And then the cover songs were about the only thing that changed the vibe of the album at all. But what do you know, they stick rhe same beat into those songs too. Boring.

All Things Must Pass
George Harrison
George Harrison's first real solo album as his first two were ambient avante guarde instrumental soundtracks. This one is actual structured songs. And great songs at that. Most of these songs were written before the Beatles broke up but were rejected for Beatles albums. But they make a great album in their own right.
This album misses out on getting a 5 just due to the second half. The first three sides are amazing. The fourth is pretty good and five and six are good but a bit unecessary.

Lambchop
Man this was boring. The whole album sounded the same. The musicianship of the band is about the only good thing I can say about it. It's also the only reason I gave it a 2 instead of 1. The vocals are monotonous and the singer should stop that falsetto.

Blur
Never really listened to Blur. Always liked Song 2 so this album gets some points just for containing that song. After listening to two Blur albums on this project now I have to say they are a great band. Great musicians. And the singer doesnt have a bad voice. The songs just dont quite hook me in enough to really grab me. But I can see why people can get into them.

You're Living All Over Me
Dinosaur Jr.
The second Dinosaur Jr. album to shoe up on this list. I hated Bug. This album is a lot easier to listen to (not that that is saying much). I didnt get the influence of Dinosaur Jr. after listening to that album. But after this one I do. The tones are much better here. The songs are about the same. And the vocals are what make this and all Dinosaur Jr. songs for that matter such a chore to listen to. But getting past that I understand why this band were so influential. Some of the instrumental breaks and guitar solos are great. And this album came out in 1987. It sounds so 90s to me. To me that right there shows its influence and how ahead of its time it was. I can hear little bits of a lot of 90s bands when I listen to this. Especially some early Foo Fighters.

Elvis Is Back
Elvis Presley
Elvis is my favourite artist of all time, and this is the first of his albums to show up on this list. Its a great one. His first comeback album. This was his first after the army. He thought his music career was over when he was drafted. So he definitely had something to prove here and it shows. His voice was stronger and he covered a diverse range of genres.
A collection of strong songs and his band had really come a long way by this point.
I want the record to show that I gave this a 4.5. It loses half a point for Fever and Soldier Boy which I think slow the album down a bit. Otherwise a solid album.

Marty Robbins
This was great! My Grandpa is a huge Marty Robbins fan but I've never really bothered to listen to him. A great album. Great songs, great musicians, what a voice! And these songs really tell some great and even dark stories. I got chills when I heard "They're Hanging Me Tonight". This is the best new album I've discovered on this list so far.

I liked this albu. The singers voice is a bit of an obstacle to get past, but behind that there are some great guitar riffs and an excellent sound. Some good songs too.
