Grievous Angel
Gram ParsonsNot really my thing and it was heading for a 1, but I thought the album finished strongly with the last few tracks. 4.5/10

First album on the list for me! Have been a very casual listener of Beck. Some stuff I like some not so much. This album was a pleasant surprise. I liked the chilled, funky and sometimes bluesy vibe. Would listen to again. 3.5/5
Never listened to The Cars before. It was pretty short but solid album with a few good songs. I liked Good Times Roll, Just What I Needed and Moving In Stereo. Probably not something I'd revisit often but not bad. 5.5/10
Fun and funky afro jams! Good live album 7.5/10
I really like A Tribe Called Quests style, but I find that this album is a bit monotonous at times. When I hear these songs individually on a playlist I dig them more. Still a good album, standouts for me are Scenerio, Show Business, Jazz and Check the Rhime. 7/10
Deserves to be up there as a classic album IMO. 8/10
Born to Run is the stand out song here. The rest is not bad or great to me, it's just.... Ok. 4.5/10
This is ok, not really my thing but has some moments. The hits Suspicious Minds and In The Ghetto are good, I also liked I'm Moving On and Power Of My Love. 5/10
Some nice disco/funk/soul. 5.5/10
I own a few Bowie albums but haven't listened to his entire discography. This was the first time I'd listened to Hunky Dory in full. On first listen I liked it. On second listen I thought it was better so I think it could be a grower. Andy Warhol and Oh! You Pretty Things stood out amongst a couple of others. 7.5/10
5.5/10
I was a bit concerned when I pressed play on this but it grew on me pretty quickly. Hypnotised is a great track, as is The Girls Talk and Hard Luck. Sort of tapers off after that. I can hear how this might have been influential to some more modern pop punk artists, not a genre I'm really a fan of...but this gets 3 stars (just) 5.5/10
I expected to like this album a lot more. Criminal is a song I've always loved and I kind of expected more of the same, but it was much more subdued than I thought it would be. Not a bad thing, its still a good album with the right mood and setting but not something I would rush back to listen to very often. Standout tracks are Criminal, Sleep to Dream and The First Taste. 6/10
Album #13 on the list and my second Kuti album.... This one Femi rather than Fela. Very similar vibe to his old man which is a good thing! A fun listen. 7/10
#0014 This starts and ends classic Jimi, the middle meanders up and down a bit but I love it! This is very close to a 5 (I realise 14 albums in that 5s aren't going to come easy for me) 8/10
Interesting album, lots of styles going on here. The first half is solid with quite a few good songs but I feel drops a lot in the back half. 5.5/10
I want to like this but I don't. The cheesy 80s sound doesn't do it for me. Big Time and Sledgehammer get this to a 2 but rest is a bit of a snooze fest. 3.5/10
Ok, but nothing outstanding or that memorable beside a couple of the hits. 5/10
A couple of good tracks on this, but i don't know, i don't think it's a really strong album. Not quite a 3. 5/10
A few elements I liked on this but it was nothing more than background music mostly. I didn't hate it but I don't think I'll be back. 4/10
Not a big fan of country...I mean I've heard worse and it was pleasant at times. 4/10
This was a breath of fresh air after a nasty run of 2s. Id listen again! 6/10
This was a hard one to decifer. So cheesy and corny on one hand, but some cool beats and catchy moments kept me entertained. I don't know if further listens will make me like it more or hate it. 6/10
5/10
This kinda surprised me a little. I like how it drifted in a different direction after the hits that kick off the album. 7/10
Really good album! I was was a fan of Kings of Leon at the time this was released, and I think this album represents when they were at their peak and making interesting music. They really lost me after their next album (Because Of The Times) when they cashed in and began to make soulless, bland, mainstream radio rock. But good for them I guess. 7.5/10
Not really my thing and it was heading for a 1, but I thought the album finished strongly with the last few tracks. 4.5/10
I think I like most genres of music but I really struggle with country and this kind of 80s rock(?) I'm hoping to find some stuff that might change my mind from this list BUT this album really doesn't help. There were some moments that I thought sounded good but they were very short lived. About 30 albums in and this is my first 1. 2/10
I was a teen in the 90s into rock/metal/alternative/grunge and NIN were on my radar, liked quite a few of their songs but could never get into the albums as a whole. Listening to this again after a long time hit differently. It's a solid 3 from start to finish but songs like March of the Pigs, Hurt, Ruiner, Piggy and of course Closer push this to a 4 star for me. 7.5/10
This was a nice chill listen in a cold rainy day. There was a couple of songs with a bit of a soul vibe (You Masculine You and What Else Could It Be?) which I enjoyed the most. The rest was ok nothing outstanding. 5/10
I really like the vibe of this album, chilled out blues rock which is mostly strong from from start to finish. Would listen to again. 6.5/10
For me, a lot of Jazz is just music to listen to while I'm doing something else. And I don't mean that in a bad way. This was the first time I'd heard of Hugh Masekel. I really liked it because it was great 'background' music to what I was doing at the time. But also, it had lots of moments where I had to stop and listen to the cool funky sounds. Something I would revisit for sure. 6/10
As an Australian who likes rock music, I'll admit this is the first time I've listened to this in full (gasp!). In saying that I knew every song, even the ones I didn't think I knew. Maybe because they all sound similar? Or because AC/DC is played everywhere? There's no denying this is an excellent album and I appreciate why people would love it. It's big and full of energy and full of songs you can bop and sing along to. In the scheme of things it probably deserves a higher rating... But for me personally it's something I wouldn't choose to play much and I'm gunna give it a 3 but very close to a 4. 6.5/10
I enjoyed listening to this. It was nice to hear the sitar for something different. 6/10
I only first listened to this album last year before I started the generator, and I thought it was ok but wasn't in my thoughts to revisit. But when I put it on this time something just clicked. I played it loud and it sounded so good, full of great songs especially Down on the River and Cowgirl in the Sand. It has grown from maybe a 3 to now a 4, so maybe a grower that will get better the more I hear it. 8/10
I've always avoided U2. Why? I really don't know, they just dont appeal to me at all. One of the reasons for joining this generator for me was to force myself to listen to albums like this that I'd never choose to. It hasn't converted me into a U2 fan, but it's a solid album and I can understand why they became so big. A couple of big hits and few songs that were surprisingly good. 6/10
Excellent album. I think if I was a youngster at this point in time I would have been totally into this. Still seems to sound modern and I can see if this was influential. 7.5/10
Probably the most interesting discovery on the list so far for me. Id never heard of this. I liked the acid jazz and almost trip hop vibe. A couple of the tracks were dark and eerie and kind of disjointed the album a bit but still interesting. A cameo from Nick Cave was also a nice surprise. This is a movie I wanna watch, going by this "soundtrack" 7.5/10
Funky psychedelic rock. I liked it! 7.5/10
I like Johnny Cash, and this album shows that he was a real showman. Good performance but as an album I thought it was a little messy with maybe a little too much crowd interaction. Was a good listen though. 6/10
Ugh. The first half of this had me thinking "get me out of here". But the album got somewhat better with a good run of songs towards the end. I liked World apart, Further On and the Fuse. Coming into this, even though I haven't listened to a lot of Springsteen, I thought I was more of a fan and looked forward to hearing some of his music that I hadn't heard. Two albums down and I'm not overly impressed so far. 4.5/10
This was fun! Played it a couple of times and it kept me entertained...something I think I will revisit. Hot take...I think I liked this more than Low End Theory. Probably not as many highs, and definately not as ground breaking, just easier to listen to from start to finish. 6.5/10
Solid enough album. Not much from the Smiths has really ever grabbed me. 5.5/10
Bittersweet symphony, The Drugs Don't Work and Lucky Man are all classic songs. The rest is ok and I did enjoy listening to it. 6/10
I enjoyed this more than I was expecting! I mean there is quite a lot of filler and way too many songs, but the high points had me and the missus bopping around the lounge room! 6/10
Moments of brilliance and also moments of wtf am I listening to. This one is a mixed bag which I find is common with 70s prog rock. I have tried to listen to this in the past and I enjoyed it more this time around. 6/10
I've said in other reviews that country music isn't my thing, but I actually enjoyed this. I think it's more folky blues (kind of like Johnny Cash) but what do I know. I can hear how he might have influenced Bob Dylan but also some more modern artists....maybe Jack White? And also one of my favourite Australian artist CW Stoneking? Would listen to again sometime. 6/10
Nice, easy going album. 6/10
