1001 Albums Summary

Starts off fun, peaks at track 2 and then just becomes quite annoying.

Trumpet punk

I enjoyed some bits of this, screeching guitars, drums fills, tempo changes and electronic beep boops, but I couldn't get fully on board with it and couldn't finish it. But some of the instrumentals reminded me of Mariokart and I like Mariokart.

Yeah! That's more like it.

May seem silly to give 5/5 after the albums we've just had but this transports me back to 2008 and it feels good. The three big tracks are great pop songs that are so recognisable but unique and stand the test of time. I listened to a podcast a while a go called song exploder where each episode they have a guest on to dissect one of their tracks. MGMT broke down time to pretend and they mentioned at the end of the song they added in the piano from abba's dancing queen, now I always listen for that. The other tracks are good too, personal favourites are Of Moons, Birds & Monsters and Pieces of What.

Not heard of Gene Clark before and never actually listened to much of the Byrds but maybe I will now

Every time I go to listen to pink floyd I think this will be the time, but every time it just goes on and on. It all just feels so ploddy and strained. Shine on you crazy diamond is really good of course, pts 1-5 and 6-9, but everything in between I just can't get on board with
