Didn't know what to expect but okayyy!
Might get tired of this eventually.
2 songs done, has some interesting ideas but they really just repeat themselves without leading to something more interesting?
"Porcelain"'s nice. Real nice. Reminds me of a certain track. Can't put my finger on which one. It's "Holding On" by Tirzah! Not that similar but yeah.
"Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad" is an interesting case, as it repeats the same pattern from the first two tracks but manages to keep my interest.
"South Side" starts very interesting. Reminiscent of some tracks from the second side of Talking Heads' "Remain In Light". Sitting pretty at third place for now.
next track is nice.
"Natural Blues" is interesting but I don't think I will ever have an interest in hearing it again, although the same can be said about this album as a whole.
Machete is cool. Some LCD Soundsystem before it, and kinda less douch-y.
Like "Run On".
These tracks are really just happening without leaving a single mark on me.
I feel like this second half could really benefit from some re-listens. It's much more subtle and tranquil. Almost like ambient music. Really nice actually.
Really like "The Sky Is Broken".
This last track is really pretty.
Overall, I do think the album is a tad too long (even if, at the same time, it doesn't necessarily feel like it lasts one entire hour). Some tracks could have been shorter. Some could have been cut. It was still an interesting experience. Got some worthwhile songs out of it.
My main grip with the album is its repetitiveness. It feels like the same formula is applied time after time, with some not that stellar results. From the very first song, my interest was peaked and then lost. Some great elements are brought up, without any actual interesting developments.
Again, the second half definitely left a better mark. The slower, more subtle songs might actually be the record's best. Might revisit it just for them.
Overall, worth the experience. At first listen, it's a 6/10.

Sly & The Family Stone
Damn I love that first track.
Oh I'm gonna like this alright. That 3 minute instrumental outro? Yes please.
Higher's great. I'm loving this.
Sex machine was... wow. That ending's a tease.
This last track is so good...
Definitely a better overall experience... at first listen I'd day it's a very strong 8 with potencial for much much more. Loved it

Young Americans
David Bowie
Title track is fun and young love u David. He really went all out on the vocals. And the Beatles references? Okaaayyyyy
The second track gets more into the whole "plastic soul" thing. like it
love fascination
enjoy right. can see it growing on me with some listens
somebody up there's good
i've been noticing that most of these tracks range from fine to good at the beggining but go off at the end and become great. loved the ending of somebody
oh right the mandatory bowie cover that he included once per album in the 70's. the original is better. and fiona apples's version is even better. he gives the same "going-off-at-the-end" performance here but it doesn't it the same. okay cut, but a skip
can you hear me is a fine track. don't have an urge to hear it again tho. good performances tho. might grow on me with more listens
I already knew fame before i listened, and it's definitely with of the better tracks here.
overall, this is a pretty good listen. the weakest spot is across the universe, but the rest of the album makes up for it. a very interesting step off the expected path for Bowie, and if this is what he had to do before making the genius that is Station to Station, then I'll gladly take it.

Green Onions
Booker T. & The MG's
first artist that i've never even heard of. let's see.
oh okkkkkk
i like these instrumentals but i feel like something's missing. i don't know. it's very blues, which is not a style of music i'm a huge fan of.
I like "mo'onions"!
prefer the beatles version, but it's nice to know where it came from!
this is just really not my thing haha. glad other people enjoy it though!
overall, this was really not my cup of tea. at a certain point it became a slough to get through. but i do understand and admit that blues is just not my style of music. there's nothing necessarily wrong here, it just doesn't speak to me at all. and my rating reflects that.

Bob Marley & The Wailers
First time ever seriously listening to Bob Marley let's goooooo
liked the first song
i can't take "no woman no cry" seriously after years of hearing it in the dumbest contexts but it is a good song do I'll try to enjoy it as such
i liked the third track but i do feel like i'll like it better with more listens
rebel music's great but maybe too long
some of these later songs do blend into each other
"bend down low" was fun
"revolution" is also a stand-out
overall, this is a really good album, it just requires a very specific mood, one that i'm not really in at the moment. might revisit it some other time though, now thta i know what to expect.

If You Can Believe Your Eyes & Ears
The Mamas & The Papas
this is a group that i'ev been hearing about since forever, i just never got around to checking them out. guess this is the time, i'm kinda hyped.
ok right away i like this haha. good to know what inspired the lemon twigs lol.
monday monday is heavenly damn.
straight shooter is fun but might feel like more of the same but less good?
the third track is sooo soothing and sooo pretty
i call your name considered best song ever? chances are higher than you might think
do you wanna dance nice little moment, lovely
go where you wanna go just went the fuck off, i'm liking everything so far damn
here comes the most famous song on the album... it's good, but not necessarily that much better than everything that's come before? at least not enough to justify the streaming differences.
spanish harlem makes me shake my head ever so slightly. lovely.
soomething groovy, despite being made of the exact same ingredients as the previous tracks, doesn't do much for me
the last few tracks, while maybe smaller in scale than what came before, still hit just the same.
the in crowd is a bit of a weird ending spot. not at all a bad song, just a weird one to close things up.
overall, this may just be my favourite record so far. it's just all good vibes and heavenly harmonies. one word to sup it up is: lovely. definitely worth the listen!

Dr. Octagonecologyst
Dr. Octagon
This is a very different beast from every record so far. Trip-hop rap. I feel more prepared for this than for some of the previous records, but not necessarily my comfort zone.
intro is kinda wild but looking at the track names i'm not shocked
first track is interesting, but not too out there, which i was expecting
i'm feeling kinda the same thing as with moby's play. there are a lot of elements here that are interesting, but not too much that excites me. the chorus of earth people is really just not hitting. im starting to think some of these albums are historic and experimental for the time, but don't really hold up with the changing of the times. but hey, it's only been two tracks
no awareness is the best track so far. still not blown away though.
real raw is better too! i might have judged this too quickly.
what are these interludes though, im curious about that
blue flowers is great
everything after that... what is with the sexual shit? like i dont care about sex in songs at all, but a visit to the gynecologyst? what the fuck man
bear witness is kinda boring
dr octagon is so edgy wow he's rapping about sex guys did you hear that? wow all those dated references, but get this, they're twisted!! oh my god
i don't know, maybe all this was revolutionary at the time, but nowadays i can really to what makes this record interesting (some of the samples and instrumentals) but with better lyrics and production and with an actual interesting development.
that being said girl let me touch you is one of the better tracks here
man i get that you're horny and all but why all the panties mentions. and most of all, why have i heard a variation of "poo-poo" at least 4 times. once was too much. i'm destructive is fine
next track is fine too. one of the better ones. i take it back actually. goes nowhere after 4 minutes.
halfsharkalligatorhalfman was my last hope for this thing... i'm just waiting for it all to end at this point
the random blue flowers revisit is a highlight in this dark and hopeless half end. makes me want to be less mean on my rating. but then i remember that dumbass roleplaying and i get mad all over again. also the revisit is not near as good as the original, why does it exist?
waiting list is another one that has potential but why is it 5 minutes of the same samples and not so interesting lyrics? again, this shit just goes nowhere.
god i'm relieved to reach the last track and finish this shit. can't wait to listen to anything else after this
overall, this is probably the album i've enjoyed the least so far. there is a lot of potential here, but it just gets wasted on songs that go nowhere interesting and have shitty lyrics. i'm sure i missed a lot of smart lyrics, and a lot of good themes (less sure about that), but most of what i did catch was just a sorry attempt at being edgy. and even what there is of interest here was accomplished in much better ways by other records.
i'm unsure about what rating to give here - my heart is saying 1 but my mind is saying 2. i'm hesitant to give it a 1 because there is something valuable here, and i did enjoy a few tracks. but as i'm writing this i just heard about bees flying around a rectum and i'm just..... so tired of all this.... when will it end..... maybe i'll give it a 2 for the few bright moments it has. but then again, a 1 is also available for a reason. and the many moments i didn't like (and downright hated) do outweight the few i liked... i'll think about it.
i'll probably never listen to this again. even more, if i ever meet someone who says they like this album, i'll probably judge them for it. bye

My Bloody Valentine
i have heard loveless, wasn't really my thing, shoegaze rarely is so..... let's see
she found now is ok, i like it, soothing, just maybe not my thing
i really just don't like loud guitar noises im sorry shoegaze fans i hate you all i hope you're happy with this music but i am definitely not someone release from the guitar hell that is only tomorrow pleaseeeeeeee
man i'm not having fun right now. this is just not my thing. and what do you mean it's only the third track dude what
fourth track's ok. im just numb to this at this point
i can see why someone would like new you. kinda reminded me of cocteau twins
why does in another way sound like that :( . i feel like this is the heavy brach of the genre. this song is to shoegaze what heavy metal is to metal. yes?
and nothing is is to shoegaze what thrash metal is to metal. i actually kinda like this, but i would like it more if it wasn't three minutes of literally the same sounds over and over and over again
final track. can't wait to finish this honestly. the end is interesting. space sounds.
overall, just really not my thing. i was kinda hoping that listening to this would change my mind on shoegaze as a whole, like something would click. but no. everything's the same. this is really just not for me. which reminds me, i feel kinda bad giving this a low rating just because i don't connect to it. i think bad ratings should be for things that i find bad. i don't find this to be bad necessarily. just not for me.
the second half seems more experimental so that is interesting. i can see how someone might like this but hey, for the 20th time, i am not that person. bye.

John Cale
I do like the Velvet Underground and some John Cale so this should be a pleasent experience. I hope. Haven't been so lucky here lately.
first song was good enough
second song is ok. weird chorus though.
sadly for me this is sort of going by without leaving much of a mark. Andalucia is the best track so far
macbeth is actually pretty interesting. they were clearly not as interested in making the song sound "refined". the whole song sounds like a take that made the final cut. probably my favourite so far.
title track is good, and i can see why people like it. love the violin or whatever it is. but i just don't connect with it. i don't know
yeah, i'm not loving this :(
antarctica starts here might be one of the best moments here, but still not enough for me.
this album is not bad. i just don't enjoy it. which does sadden me. i can see that some of the things done here might have been new for the time (1973 was a while back). or maybe i'm just not getting something at first listen. but this really just didn't impress me in any way. bye

White Blood Cells
The White Stripes
I've never listened to a White Stripes record, let's seeeee
damn, great way to start a record,
second track's a lot of fun, liking this
third track's good too! a different mood is welcome. the lyrics are... interesting, but I'll overlook it for now
fell in love with a girl is the definition of a banger damn that was fun
i can feel my tinnitus getting worse and worse though
expecting was fine. first dud
little room was fine? i liked it but it's almost like an interlude
union forever is a good heartreak song, go off
we're going to be friends is sweet. sweeter than i ever thought this album could be
offend in any way is a dud too.
i think i smell a rat is ok. not much else to say
track after that is kinda bad in my opinion
i can't wait is another fine song. some of these i just don't see myself coming back to.
now mary is the best of the last few tracks
these last two tracks are a weird spot to end on. there's no feeling of finality
this album was a fun! i do have to say though, it started great but lost steam towards the end. some great highlights here, but also some forgettable picks. worth the listen.

American Idiot
Green Day
why are you making me listen to Green Day in the year of our Lord 2025... on the day a new pope was chosen too.....
i saw the number of tracks and was so excited, but what do you mean they're all 15 minutes long
i didn't know they said the f-word in the title track oh wow
yeah the song american idiot is good, i knew of it obviously, but i don't have that many thoughts about it, it's one of those songs that's been in my life for too long for me to listen to it critically. but hey, love anything that criticizes the US so go off
jesus of suburbia sure is an interesting title. i gotta say though, i know it's still only the second track, but i'm already getting kinda tired of the guitars just... being there sounding the same the whole way through. and yes, i know, it's a punk record. the lyrics are interesting, but very straight-foward. nothing necessarily wrong about that, and this is a punk record after all, but still.
ok the song just started going the fuck off at around the three minute mark, this is great. this feels like a transition to a completely different track, interesting that they decided to keep them together. not them say the r-word haha ok this really is the 2000's. ok, I liked this, but i do wish this song was like three or four different songs, because i liked certain parts more than others. and no, this isn't my first case of multiple tracks in one, and yes, i do always hate it.
i knew green day was very political, and i am sort of familiar with their recent controversies. that being said, i am liking the themes here (not that we've had anything that hard to disagree with yet).
see why is boulevard of broken dreams in the same track as holiday. i know there's a version of it alone, but still. but yeah, that's a classic.
are we the waiting is the first song that i don't really enjoy. let's see the second half though.
sidebar real quick, i think some of the problems that i have with this album so far really boil down to the vocal performance. it's not bad, but that's kind of the problem. his voice is too ""good"" for a punk record? and that's not at all an insult to the genre. but i do associate it with raw, imperfect vocals. shouting around words. but maybe that's just me being ignorant and close-minded. maybe i shouldn't base all my expectations for punk music on the clash and the sex pistols. oh well, i still think that i would enjoy these tracks more if the voice was different.
yeah st. jimmy is much better that the first half. why is it joined together, that's so damn annoying.
i actually like when they go for a softer rock sound like the start of give me novacaine (also present in boulevard). yeah this song's nice! i also like that it gets progressively louder.
and yet again, i hate the fact that these two tracks are joined together. because while i don't dislike she's a rebel, i like give me novacaine so much more
the first 40 seconds of extraordinary girl are the most intrigued i've been this whole album, but then the song does a 180 and it's just another song with the same sound (getting kindaaa tired of that). again, this isn't bad, but it doesn't stand out from the rest of the album at all. it's less impressive. i don't know, maybe the lyrics could be seen as appealing.
sorry i paused this to listen to a shitty stand-up clip my friend sent me, my god, that made me more excited to get back to this.
ok a self-hatred anthem, wasn't expecting that. i like letterbomb better than extraordinary girl but neither one blows me away
oh another classic, i gotta respect them for this, wake me up when september ends was my childhood. but again, i'm incapable of thinking critically about it.
i'll be honest, i don't think i was made to listen to a punk record that's this long. i'm getting pretty tired of the loudddd guitars. homecoming isn't really an exciting track either, so yeah, kinda waiting it ends. and my opinion didn't change much throughout the track, even though it did change a lot over the 9 minutes.
whasername is an interesting closing track. one of the quietest (or better said, not-as-loud) tracks, at least at the start, more reflective, less political, but it still feels like it belongs here. like it.
this is another album that was historical for its time, and green day's heyday is definitelly deserved, but some of the themes here are just not as revolutionary today. and i guess that's inevitable. when you make a piece of art that is as political as this album, it's only natural that, when more and more time passes, audiences relate to it less and less. however, it is also true that we can relate to political pieces of different times by learning more about their context. and maybe i'm just not that informed on all the specific contexts that inspired this release. and i'll own that that's my fault. so, to make an actual in-depth review, i'd have to do some research about that. but for now, as a first listen review, this will do.
a lot of songs here are good. none are bad. some blend together and are less memorable than others. but overall, i'd say this is a good project! this is another case where the rating system here bothers me, as this album feels too good to be a 3 but maybe not good enough to be a 4? i'll probably end up giving it a 4 but yeah, not the strongest one. my biggest complaints here aren't really about the album specifically, but more directed towards the genre as a whole, which i do enjoy, but in small doses. however, i do think the album could use some more variety in sound. not much here surprised me, as my hears were always getting assaulted by the loud loud loud guitars (the drums too, to a lesser extent).
another thing i disliked, as i've mentioned plenty of times at this point, is the joining together of different songs. i'm sure the band had a reason for it, but it's just annoying.
there are also a lot of positives, but sometimes it's easier to write about things you don't like. my favourite parts of the album were the ones where the band went off script a bit, like the second part of jesus of suburbia or some of the singles.
so, as it stands, there are some stand-outs, and some forgettable moments. but it's good. worth a listen. bye

White Denim
Never heard of this, let's go.
First few seconds sound like what I would expect from the band's visuals. Really like this first song so far! I have no idea what they're saying but yey!!
Again, with this second track it's really hard to tell what the hell he's singing about but damn do i love the instrumental.
back at the farm is so much fun holy shit i was not expecting this! i thought this album would be a nice folk experience, this has surpassed all expectations. don't know what genre this would be though, psychedelic indie? it does remind me of the few grateful dead record i've heard so hey, good stuff. i'm having so much fun damn.
right now the record's 3/3 and this next track is by far the most streamed so i'm feeling very excited!
okkkkkkk. this was a complete mood change. street joy is good, and i'm sure i'll like it more once i read the lyrics. for now, i enjoyed it, but i do prefer the sound of those first three tracks.
and the first few seconds of anvil everything tell me we're right back! i don't know what to say, i'm just really enjoying this. like seriously, this thing's rhythm is so much fun. and it really feels like watching a live jam session, so electrifying
i have nothing to say about river to consider that i haven't said here before. i'm just really loving this.
drugs is fun and enjoyable but maybe another one i'm not too in love with. for now.
why have i not heard of this band. and in what ways should i change my life so that i do start hearing about more shit that sounds like this?
yeah bess st. rocks
is and is and is and is and is and is and is and is and is is amazing. possibly my favourite. which is saying something. the repitition. the vocal delivery. the build-ups. damn
last track. this flew by. this one's nicer. the instrumental is still always there, always present, but it does feel quieter than previous tracks. sounds sweet. i just see a straw hat and a smile. lovely.
this album was very different from what i expected. i had so much fun, my body just moved on its own. i really just don't have a lot to say. loved this. 5 stars. bye

The Predator
Ice Cube
Ice Cube is one of those people that I've always been aware of but have never gotten into. I know he's said to have some great hip-hop records, but don't know what else to expect.
The contrast of title of the first track and its context already shows what will maybe be a constant theme.
The lyrics probably won't be a big part of this initial review as I can't tell what they say that well. That being said When Will They Shoot is already amazing. I have no idea what that sample is but fuck is it good.
The interlude shows what is probably the main point of the album and yeah. Not too much has changed.
Again, Wicked's sample is so cool. And I do like the track as a whole. Elphaba and Glinda sound so different (that was stupid I regret it).
Now I Gotta Wet'cha kinda came and went without leaving a mark.
The title track is actually pretty cool. But these samples, while still great, are starting to sound too similar.
It Was A Good Day is by far the most streamed song, and I get why. This is a sudden change from the more "aggressive" instrumentals that came before. This is nice. Ok that sex description was unexpected but kinda original so I'm not mad at it.
HE SAID FAGGOTTTTTTTT. song bangs.
Fuck'em oh ok
The instrumentals in this record stop me from ever being bored, but the rap is often not enough to peak my interest. Maybe because I don't fully understand what he's saying at a first listen. After all, as far as I can tell, Ice Cube's delivery is great.
That being said I actually like Don't Trust'Em, even if I don't love what I can tell from the lyrics.
Ice Cube's storytelling is impressive, even if I'm not following every lyric.
Was not expecting a smurfette reference from this record but hey.
Check Yo Self is, unsurprisingly, a banger.
My country was just mentioned as a comparison for a racist country yeyyyyy. Don't disagree though.
While I did enjoy this album, I can't help but feel like I'm missing something. Maybe if I was a bigger rap fan I'd enjoy it even more. That seems to be true of every genre, so why not here. I do think that, with more time, this could get better and better for me.
As I said earlier, I'm not in the best circumstances to interpret the lyrics with the depth that they deserve, and since that's a major part of the record I can't claim that this is the best of reviews.
So yeah, this one's on me. Bye

Fever To Tell
Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Oh hey it's the Head Will Roll band! What are you guys doing here?
I did not expect them to rock out like this. Ok I liked Rich. Vocals are great, instrumentals are well mixed, not too loud even if still aggressive.
Not as impressed with the second track.
Ok so they're going for some punk too, that's nice.
Judging by the track lengths for the next few songs I'd say they're going for that punk sound for a while.
Tick is cool. Kinda didn't like Black Tongue. Pin was better but not that impressive.
What were those lyrics on Cold Night about doing it to each other and being like a sister and a brother? What?
Ignoring that, No No No is fine but, despite the performances, doesn't excite me at all. And it definitely overstays its welcome by about 3 minutes.
Maps is the big hit of the album, one of the two big hits of the band. Did not expect that. I don't know how to feel about this one. Not at all what I thought it was going to be, but the surprise isn't all that positive in this case.
Not in love with Y Control either.
Modern Romance I actually kinda like. It's a nice unexpected shift from everything else. Yey! But a sad yey.
Poor Song is another interesting case. They sabed the slower, sadder songs for the end. I may like this more than some other cuts. It stands out in the midst of all these punk ragers. Yeah, it's nice.
Overall, I was not too impressed with this one. I've heard better punk albums, better rock albums, better indie albums. Nothing in here blew me away. Maybe I should give Maps another shot. But yeah, not that impressed. I am undecided on the rating, as 2 seems too low, since I don't find the album to be bad, and 3 seems too high, especially considering what other albums I've given a 3 to. Oh well, I'll think about it some more.

Steely Dan
I've heard of Steely Dan but never actually listened to anything so I have no clue what to expect. Let's goooooo.
oh okkkkkk. oh this is lovely. yeah i don't have much to say about that first track, i just really enjoyed it. quite a mood-setter.
title track was maybe not as captivating, but this is still damn good.
i definitely see deacon blues growing on me with more listens. right now i like it, but i see potential there. why do i like it more the longer it goes. this is lovely.
Peg kind of came and went. still good and fun, just not that exciting.
ooohhhh home at last is such a jam, definitely one of my favourites.
i got the news was nice too, a lovely tune. i do like the way the album kind of changes moods halfway through. still the same base, but the first half seems more, I don't know, melancolic?
i fucking love josie, i did not expect the most danceable song to be the last one, but what a way to go out.
overall, this was a great experience. one of the most enjoyable so far. i didn't dislike any tracks, and the ones that i didn't outright love i can see myself getting there with time. i'd say it's like an 8 out of 10, which translates to a very secure 4. yeyy. bye

Guero
Beck
No clue what to expect, let's go.
Oh wow, another rock album! What a surprise!
Ok despite that initial sassy reaction I do like this. Fuck yeah. Ok, I'm banging my head, I'm moving, that was great.
This is so much fun holy shit, reminds me a lot of Gorillaz, I guess this is an influence on them? Anyway yeah, Que'Onda Guero is amazing.
Total mood shift, but I'm not complaining too much cause this is still good. Yeah, Girl shows a completely different side but keeps the quality. Really enjoying this.
Missing is another shift, but closer to the second track. I like it too, and could see myself liking it even more with more listens.
Same is said about Black Tambourine. I don't have anything else to say other than hey, I'm loving this. So far I've liked 5 out of 5.
I don't know what genre this is at this point, but you bet I'm enjoying it. Beck is really just doing whatever, going changing genres with every song, and I'm definitely here for the ride
Hell yes... well... I'm not gonna make that obvious dumb joke. I do like it, but probably my least favourite so far.
Yeah, scratch that, Broken Drum is my least favourite. The first track here I've wanted to skip.
Scarecrow is better, but maybe a bit too long.
Go It Alone just sounds cool. At first I didn't love it, but the further I got into the track the more it grew on me. Yeah, this is fire
Yet again, he changes shit up. Farewell Ride sounds like a more modern take on wild west. I like it.
Rental Car is fine but not too exciting. Emergency Exit too.
Final track lifts the mood a bit. and leaves a better last impression.
Overall, I really enjoyed this! The first half is better than the second, but there are never any bad moments here, just less exciting ones. Great experience. It really feels like Beck was doing what he felt was right for each track. Again, it seems I don't have that much to say for my positive experiences here. I will say though, this really rejuvenized my interest in this whole experience. Well, bye!

Haircut 100
No clue what's coming my way.
Ok starts promising. Favourite Shirts is great! A lot of fun. I'm realizing that I use the same words multiple times but fun really seems like the perfect word to describe my experience listening to this song. Great stuff.
Love plus one was lovely.
Love this mostly instrumental track.
This record really is a pleasent experience, brings me memories of the beach. Overall a good vibe.
The songs kind of melt into each other, so I'm having trouble differentiating between them. Liked the different vibe from Baked Beans.
Love's Got Me In Triangles is an unexpected highlight from the latter half, the sax moments really add to it.
The final track is fun and really sums up the whole record. It's very pleasent.
A consequence of this is that the songs don't sound too different. Sure, some are better than others, but few stand out from the rest. So overall, I'd say this was worth a listen, and I'll probably listen to it again, but I don't know if it's out of the box or innovative enough to hold up to being included in this list. But hey, this was great! Bye

Songs Of Leonard Cohen
Leonard Cohen
I'm really excited for this one! I've been meaning to get into Leonard Cohen for a while, just never got around to it. I already know Suzanne, and I think I know what to expect.
Suzanne is as beautiful as I remember. Paying more attention to the lyrics reveals just how beautiful a track it is. Lovely.
Master Song is hauting. I don't know if I'll ever fully understand the lyrics. But the end does seem to show some resistance to the said Master, when the narrator says "And I taught him how you would long for me/ No matter what he said, no matter what you'd do". There's a lot of layers to that. And the repitition of the initial verse at the end of the song adds a lot of layers to it too. Great track.
Winter lady is mysterious too. When people say Leonard Cohen was a poet they weren't kidding. I'm gonna have to think about these songs to fully understand them. Still, for now, this is very pretty.
Man, I'm gonna thank God for Genius after this.
At this point (Sisters of Mercy) I've kind of given up on fully understanding and interpreting the lyrics. I'm here for the ride. And that was very pretty.
Ok, thankfully So Long, Marianne was simpler and easier to understand! Lovely too! Love the lines "You left when I told you I was curious/ I never said that I was brave". Yeah, writing's fun.
Ok, I know virtually nothing about this man, and this next statement could be completely wrong, but he has got to be the sweetest person ever born.
Teachers is about... trauma? I know he's very religious, and most religious people struggle with their faith. This song seems, at first listen, to be about the struggle with the teaching methods. This is one of my favourites so far.
Yeah, that was good. Man, I don't know quite what to say. I'm puzzled. Was I completely lost lyrics wise throughout the whole record? Yes. Did I still enjoy the hell out of this? Also yes.
I'm gonna need some time with this one, bue it really left a mark. As far as rating go, I have no idea how to proceed here. But hey, I'm gonna go with my heart here. This is for first listen purposes after all. Bye

X-Ray Spex
I did not expect this to be the first album in this list I'd heard before. I listened to this one a couple years ago, and have no memory of it but hey, here's to second chances.
So this is loud and has a bad mix, welcome back punk. Is this riot grrrl before riot grrrl?
I feel like I would like these songs if they... sounded better? I think the songs are good and catchy, but the mixing is awful, every second is killing my ears.
This album is really just going by. Again, in theory I like a lot of what's happening, but the sound quality is keeping me from actually enjoying it.
Yeah, I just finished the album and my mind didn't change. This was tough to get through. Not bad, so I won't give it an awful rating, but yeah, can't say I enjoyed this experience... bye

Hunky Dory
David Bowie
The first album that I actually know entirely! This one should be nice, I haven't listened to this record from front to back in a few years. It used to be my favourite Bowie album, but with time I started liking others more and kinda writing this one off. But let's gooooo
Changes has a wholesomeness that is present throughout the record. This listening will be kind of a trip down memory lane, as this was big for me in my teen years. This specific song was great to have at that weird, difficult time.
Oh! You Pretty Things really takes me back damn. I remember looking up the lyrics to this specific song. It was probably the first time I heard of the The Mamas & The Papas (if that line really is a reference to them). Bowie really had a way of writing for and about "weird" people. Those that felt different, in one way or another. And this record really speaks to that.
Life on Mars? really is one of the best songs of all time. That chorus makes me want to sream-sing every time. And another case of Bowie writing some astute and interesting lyrics while keeping a pop sound. The "lawman beating up the wrong guy" line reminds me of "a cop knelt and kissed the feet of a priest and a queer threw up at the sight of that". Yeah
Kooks is honestly over-hated. It's a fine track, nothing that, in my opinion, ruins an album. Sure I wouldn't be mad if you skipped it, but I'm not mad at its inclusion. It does take the whole "I'm different" thing to the cheesy side.
Quicksand is similar to Eight Line Poem in that it's more of a poem than a song, but the lyrics are more interesting to me. And the fact that it actually has instrumentals too I guess. Another track that I remember looking up to get some help in understanding. Bowie rarely went sad, but when he did he sure went in.
Fill Your Heart sounds like a sibling to Kooks, but I do like it better.
I don't know what he was trying to accomplish with that beggining to Andy Warwhol but it surely changed the mood. The song's good though.
He continues with the homages to then contemporary icons in the next song, and while it is good, it doesn't hit quite the same.
Queen Bitch is so much fun.
The Bewlay Brothers is another track that always kind of just happened. I like it, but the meaning doesn't speak to me. I love the second half though.
Overall, this was a great experience, It was nice to revisit this album and the time in my life that I associate with it. But even outside that, this record definitely deserves its reputation as a classic. It has some of Bowie's best material with maybe a couple songs that could be skipped. Absolutely worth a listen! Bye

Stevie Wonder
Songs in The Key of Life is one of the best albums of all time so.... this should be good.
This starts off very well, the opener's great.
Second song is not what I associate with Stevie Wonder but really good! Great vibe, but I can tell I probably won't listen to it other than when hearing the whole album.
Living For The City is immediately a step up, and more of what I was expecting. But this album is definitely different from Songs, I should take it as what it is.
Ok so this song takes a left turn halfway through but alright I like it.
Golden Lady is very nice, very good, lovely.
Highest Ground is funkier and more up-beat, exactly what I was expecting from this album, and I love it!
Jesus Children of America is the mandatory Jesus is great song but hey, it still sounds good. Probably my least favourite so far but not bad at all.
All in Love Is Fair is... a ballad? And a good one at that. Might need more listens to fully love it but it is good!
Ok the spanish jump scare was scaring but ok! And that little dialogue was interesting... the song's good though!
The final song is a great closer, and I can see it growing on me with time.
Overall, this was a great experience! I was never bored or waiting for it to end, even the few songs I didn't outright love I still enjoyed. It is less grand than Songs in The Key of Life, but the genre here is used differently. Great stuff! Bye

Live / Dead
Grateful Dead
I haven't heard Grateful Dead in years, and am not familiar with this album, so this should be interesting.
We start off with a 23 minute song! Ok, let's go!!
I'm really liking the build-ups in this song. Also love that it takes 6 minutes for any vocals to start.
I'm almost at the end, and I don't know what to think. I liked this. I think I did. I had it on while doing something else, which is maybe not the way truehard fans of Grateful Dead think this should be experienced. I also am not tripping on acid, which is maybe not the way truehard fans of Grateful Dead think this should be experienced. But hey, I did get some enjoyment out if this giant of a song. Is it the kind of thing I'll come back to multiple times? Probably not. But I've never been the biggest fan of wailing guitars. Hey, whatever.
St. Stephen is more of an... accessible song? If a Grateful Dead song can be that. But yeah, it's good.
The Eleven is probably my favourite so far, love the instrumentals here!
This might me a good time to mention that I haven't been paying any attention to the lyrics. I don't think that's a major offense because it doesn't seem to be the most important factor so hey. Maybe next time.
Turn on Your Love Light was definitely my favourite so far. Love the way it keeps building up, and the pay-off is great. Did not feel as long as it is.
Death Don't Have no Mercy was good, I liked the multiple sections in one song, but the ones before were just better.
Is Feedback gonna be 7 minutes of, well... feedback? Yeah fuck that
And We Bid You Goodnight is great despite being 37 seconds long.
All in all I really liked some parts of it and some others fell a bit flat. That being said, more time and being in the right mindset might make me like it more. Bu I guess that can be said about any album here. Oh well. Bye

Rid Of Me
PJ Harvey
I love PJ Harvey, and I really like this project, but some songs here don't wow me that much. Maybe all thata will change with this listen, we shall see, we shall see!
Before I even start the album, one thing I always associate with it (and the artist herself) is vulnerability. The vulnerability to be angry in detail. A lot of times anger is shown in song it is shown in a way that hides the speaker, protects them. PJ Harvey says fuck that and tells it as it is. Let's listen.
Rid Of Me is the kind of song that I always love: a slow burner. I love the contrast between the quiet verses and the explosion of the chorus. And the build-up with "Lick my legs, I'm on fire, lick my legs, of desire" (still not sure if she says "legs" or "lips" in the second sentence but oh well) just adds to it. And this is what I mean with vulnerability. At the end of the day, she is singing about unrequieted love, begging this person to stay with her. The anger of the chorus is just an answer to that, to the fact that the person got her to that point. Great stuff.
Missed is still a bit of a mistery to me. You could tell me it was about love, about Mary Queen of Scots (as Genius seems to think), or about the Mother of Christ, and I'd believe you. I am more leaning to the last interpretation, but still. An absolute banger.
Legs is a wild declaration of love and devotion, the kind that is toxic to both. She kills him, she loves him. The bridge in this is amazing. Love the way she seems to be tauting him, even after, well, cutting his legs off. Love her.
A lot of PJ Harvey songs sound like they're about sex. Maybe the lines themselves, or the way she sings (sometimes moans) them. But this one... yeah there's no mistaking it here. But still, even when speaking about sex, that dark, disgusting layer is still present. Damn that album cover is perfect for this. Still, I think there's something to the dynamic of the relationship I may be missing. Why is she calling him weak? A fucked-up power dynamic at play? Could definitely see it.
Again, Hook is a bit of a mistery to me. Sure, part of it is clear (a man making promises and taking advantage of a woman). But there seems to be more that I'm not fully getting.
Man-Size Sextet, besides sounding very creepy because of the violins (which I love), could be interpreted as Harvey imagining herself as a man? Creating her "man version"? The imagery of a "babe looking good" and the final verse, talking about taking a girl out of her head and setting her on fire, setting her free as well. Yeah I like this version.
The Dylan cover is actually... pretty good. Not much to add, she manages to make it very distinct from the original, in a way that it seems like a completely different song.
Fifty-foot Queenie is a demonstration of the assertion of power and aggressiveness usually reserved for men but in a woman. Great
Sure, a song about being in love with the moon, why not? But also, I like seeing the adoration and submission being used for a female being (is the moon a being? whatever).
A different take on a song from the same album. This one is more of a rock version, so I guess it feits more with the album? I so like the change in mood that the other version brings. Hey, I guess it's a good thing we have both.
Dry is definitely one of my favourites here. Again, another song that can be seen on a sexual level (the sentence "you leave me dry speaks for itself"), but I think we can go further. "You've come all this way, no hair out of place" shows a "perfect" presentation, and yet... he leaves her dry. Even sucking on the well (desperation, trying to have hope and grab on to the last possible resort) still leaves her dry. It seems that this person, despite possibly being pretty and all that, just does nothing for her. No interest is piqued. She's dry. I also like that this belongs to a very niche list of songs that share a title with an album in an artist's discography despite not being on that album. Don't know, I'm a nerd, I just like those fun facts.
I was not expecting to find out this song was about Tarzan?? Why did I not know that before. Sure Polly do what you want, I'll listen.
Snake is possibly the most aggressive song on this whole album, and it has no build-up, it just starts with a guitar riff, some loud drums and louder vocals, and it stays that way for most of the track. It reminds me of "Long Snake Moan" from "To Bring You My Love", not jusr because of the title but also because that track is also "all-noise-no-build-up". Like both. The lyrics here though... I love when heavier records use religious imagery, and here we hear what Eve's reaction might have been after eating the forbidden fruit. Yey.
Ecstasy is the perfect send-off for this thing. Not the heaviest track, it still has the sound that runs through all the songs in this album. The same kind of guitar riff and percussion. Lyrically, it's pretty simple. She's in ecstasy. The delivery is so fucking good though. Love it.
Overall, I'd say that this listening experience actually made me appreciate this album much more! Before, I thought the songs just melted into each other and couldn't really tell them apart. Now I've grown to like them all. I firmly believe this is a no skip-album.
However, the idea that I had that the tracks sound similar still stands. While I did enjoy every song here, the instrumentals are very similar thoughout. And some songs are more forgettable than others.
Still, this is PJ Harvey at her angriest, and I love it for that. And that album cover is so iconic it needs to add points to the whole thing. I am kind of unsure on how to rate this. Maybe if it was a bit shorter I'd give it 5, but as it is I might settle on 4. But it's a very good 4, I promise. Loved this. Bye.

The Wildest!
Louis Prima
I have never heard of this. Let's go
Oh okay I'm gonna like this haha. Yeah this is great, just plain fun. The end of I Ain't Got Nobody is so good.
The second song keeps the quality going.
The Lip was good too. But I have to say, that first track left way too high a standard.
Body and Soul is the jazziest song so far (not a complaint). The instrumentals are still fun and have a sort of personality. Lovely.
Oh Marie goes offfff, I loved this, second best so far.
Next track, another medley, is probably my least favourite so far. I still liked it, but found myself not paying as much attention.
Next track, while still fun, didn't captivate me that much. The lyrics do remind me that it's the 50's haha.
Buona Sera is another highlight.
Night Train, another instrumental, is good and actually manages to carry itself like Body and Soul did.
The closer brings back the vocals and with them comes the same feeling the first few tracks had. Even if he's singing about a rascal and his eventual death, this is so much fun.
This album was, to repeat myself, a lot of fun! But then again, I don't think I can trust you if you don't like swing. I was dancing along to all these songs, and I can see myself continuing to do so in the future. Great stuff. Bye

Dummy
Portishead
I have known and loved this album for a while now. It sets a very specific mood that you can't help but be transfixed by. However, I've always thought that there were some clear highlights and some clear... not highlights. We shall see if this notion holds up.
Mysterons is really the perfect introduction here. Immediately you know what to expect. Perfect production, great vocals, and an odd setting. The drums here are perfectly repetitive, and the synth adds a lot to that air of mistery. Lyrically, not sure what it is about. But I sure love to sing along with Beth Gibbons. Great stuff.
Sour Times seems to be about not lying to yourself and just... doing it. What you want to. Disregard traditional values and live. And that chorus man. This one is one the most emotional songs in an album filled with them. But really paying attention to the lyrics has made me love it even more. Damn
Stranger is the first song that can be described as "unsettling" (something that can be said about a lot of their later material). The samples here are relentless, always drowning and present. It almost feels like a march, since there's always something happening. It is one of the songs that I didn't pay much attention to when revisiting this album, but this time I'm suddently liking it much more.
It Could be Sweet has always been one of my favourites. So laid-back, the instrumentals are kept to a minimum, so all the focus is on the vocals, and damn is the delivery amazing. Lyrics wise, it reminds me of Sour Times a bit, especially the idea that you can't run away from your thoughts, or your wishes, and surrendering to them "could be sweet". This song is also an example of something that I feel about the whole album: it is not necessarily sad (although it can be interpreted in that way). To me, it's more beautiful than sad.
In Wandering Star the sample is again a bit more unsettling. It also seems to be the outright saddest song in the album, about the state of depression and its feeling of inescapability. And besidesi talking a lot about feeling bad, it also dabbles in being deserving of it, things which often go hand-in-hand.
It's a Fire has always been my least favourite track on the album. It seems to be about keeping on keeping on. And while at first it seems hopeful (even the instrumentals), there are clues that it is all a farse, the biggest example being the fact that the song ends with "so breathe on, little sister, like a fool".
Numb, despite its title being the one that most aligns with the mood of the record, is the one that fits in the least. The vocal delivery reminds me a bit of something from their next album. Lyrically, it's sad. "This loneliness, it just won't leave me alone". The vocals, however, keep me from fully connecting to it, which is a rarety in Dummy.
Roads is the most heartbreaking song here. However, its lyrics are also the most vague and hard to decipher. I think it's about loneliness in such a packed world. A feeling that we all feel and yet don't recognize. Her asking "how can it feel this wrong" though... yeah, great.
Pedestal is another one I often forget about. I can't quite make sense of what it is about, but it sounds so cool and distant. The vocals are almost disconnected (non-derogatory).
It's hard to miss out on a song that is between two giants (Roads and Glory Box), and sadly I think that may have happened to Biscuit. But damn is it good. That feeling of supposedly being full but still being hungry. Being a "slave of sensation". Yeah.
And then we arrive at the big boss. Glory Box. It's the kind of song that, for fans, has become "too famous". But man, it's good. Very good. And so resonant. People seem to think that this is a bit of a feminist anthem, and while I do think that is in part true, I also think it is an admission of fault. All she wants to be is a woman. Despite recognizing that the standards set for what a woman is are ridiculous, she still wants to mett them. And that's true of everyone. We all admit that standards of gender (and plenty other things too) are useless and dumb, but we all still have that urge that forces us to fulfill them. At least that's what I get out of this.
Yeah, this record is amazing. It is a defining achievement of any genre that uses samples, and is all but the founding text of the trip-hop genre. And it definitely holds up, as nothing quite like this album has been made since.
I did gain a new appreciation for some tracks, and my love for the others only blossomed. It's a classic, and a damn good one at that. Bye

Debut
Björk
I love this album, Björk is one of my favourite artists of all time, I know this from front to back, in fact this is the first album on this list that I can listen to on vinyl, because I have it in my collection! I haven't listened to the full thing in a while, so maybe my mind will change, but this is one of those records that I instantly liked at first listen. Dance music from the 80's and 90's is right up my alley. Let's gooo
Human Behaviour immediately sets the tone for what to expect. I know that there are some people out there who can't get on board with Björk's voice but hey, I'm not one of them. Love the background vocals on the chorus, and love her little shriek after the first chorus. Yeah, I just love this.
Crying was a favourite of mine at the time. Lyrically it's extremely simple, but hey who says every song had to a poem. I don't know what is responsible for the percussion here but I love that too. I especially like the delivery of "Only if a ship would sail in, or just somebody came, and knocked on my door or just, or just something", and way she screams "care" towards the end. Yeah, good track.
Venus as a Boy was one the first song of hers I listened to, and I specifically remember watching the video and loving it, and then hating the comments rationalizing it. This is one of the best songs about sex to ever be made. Or at least sexual compatability. It is also the first song that shows that Björk will sing about whatever she wants, and often that includes details about her sexual life. It's also one of the most notable appearences of her nonsense singing, which people have overanalyzed, and which I love everytime! Yeah, not much to add here, the lyrics speak for themselves, I just love this song, and the different sounds it brings to a 90's house record.
There's More to Life Than This is just about feeling it man. Is it the best song of all time? No, but who cares? It's a good time, and it's a fun time. I love the little bathroom interlude too. Good message too. Yey
A cover of Like Someone in Love is honestly the last thing you'd expect in an album like this, and yet it works! And it shows Björk's willingness to surprise and think outside the box. She's never let others' expectations dictate what she does with her music. I love the background noise too, it was present in There's More too, and it adds a layer to already good songs. And yeah, this song is beautiful. Can you tell I'm a fan of hers?
The complete mood change from that to Big Time Sensuality brings us back to some dance music. I love this song. It's an ode to going out, having fun, and embracing the dumb things you say when drunk. And yes, it does take courage! Lovely.
This second half of the album is a bit less about good accessible dance music and more about... some experimentation? Yeah, these middle tracks are more about setting a sonic landscape and exploring it.
One Day is pretty straight-forward when it comes to lyrics, but I love the sounds that are added to it.
Aeroplane is, for me, the stand-out in this second half. It has the same feel as its neighbouring songs, but something about it speaks to me on an extra level. Love it.
Come to Me reminds me of some later Björk tracks (Possibly Maybe, Heirloom), songs that go on for a while, and don't immediately click, but then you hear them that one time and it just makes sense. I love her vocals here. This just transfixes me.
I used to really like Violently Happy, but I quickly got tired of it. Probably my least favourite on the record nowadays. It's weird, because the longer it goes, the more I like it, but I feel like it shouldn't be so long? Maybe this makes no sense. The beginning is my least favourite part, definitely. Once the drums kick in I start liking it much more. Then the "breakdown" (?) after she sings "baby" happens and I don't love that. I really like the ending though!
The Anchor Song is a weird place to end things on. i feel like it's hard to be indifferent with this. I like it, but it is for a specific mood. I do love the fact that even when doing a balland, Björk is never really typical. This is also the most metaphorical song in the album, and it starts showing something that will be explored in more detail greatly: Björk's tendency to be stubborn and rely only on herself (can't wait for you Vespertine).
I love this album. I was expecting to not like it as much after not hearing it through for a while, but I still love it. Altough, I will say that the fact that the last two songs are my least favourite doesn't help the album. Now, I know that I am writing this mostly for myself, and no-one will ever go through my profile and see what ratings I gave to what albums but hey, I'm defending myself anyways. I love this album. Is it the best album of all time? No. Is it the best in Björk's career? No. Is it experimental and life-changing? No. But is it good? Yes! Do I like every track? Yes! Am I giving it 5 stars? Yes! Hey, I never said I was a serious reviewer. Besides, it was never a fair fight, putting a Björk album here. Love you grandmother. Bye

Pictures At An Exhibition
Emerson, Lake & Palmer
Never heard of this. Like the fact that it's a live album. Some research (google lol) says it's an adaptation of a piano suite. Ok. Let's go.
Oh ok
The beginning of The Gnome was weird (derogatory) but I might be starting to like it. Yeah no that was a false alarm.
The Sage is pretty I guess.
I'm sorry but the synths here just... what? I like some parts of these songs, right now the second half of The Old Castle is cool but man...
Ok I'm vibing with Blues Variation, that's fun. Wish this and the second half of the last track were one full song but oh well.
I Liked The Hut of Baba Yaga!
The next two tracks, while sometimes interesting, just did not leave much of a note on me.
This 6 minutes song towards the end, while epic in scale and instrumentation, just does nothing for me.
And yeah, that last song left the same taste of meh in my mouth.
Well, I'm glad that the people at the concert seemed to be enjoying the music! I sure wasn't, but hey, who am I to dim other people's light. If you like this, good for you! It just did absolutely nothing for me, besides a few interesting spots here and there. I still can't get over those synths... yeah, not for me. Bye

Here, My Dear
Marvin Gaye
Marvin Gaye is one of those names that I've always heard but whose music I never actually checked out. So hey, as they say, let's Marvin Gaye and get it on!
I'm so sorry for that.
Oh ok I thing I'm gonna like this.
First song set a good mood but didn't blow me away.
This is nice and all, but I feel like I've heard better songs from the same genre. However, I have to say, I like the second track more the further I get into it.
The third track is the best one so far, but still doesn't quite do it for me.
Ok, Anger is what I'm talking about! First track I've liked the whole way through.
Is That Enough is exactly what I expected from this album. 7 minutes of funky soul perfection.
While I appreciate the message of Everybody Needs Love, it doesn't do much for me. Next track leaves the same feeling too.
Sparrow is a nice tune with a simple meaning. Lovely.
The songs that I didn't mention were forgettable, but A Funky Space Reincarnation is something else. Fun, sexy, groovy. Great!
The next track was weird, as it mostly just happened before becoming fun at a certain point.
Falling in Love Again was a nice closer, but there were many more memorable moments in the record.
After finishing this, I have to say that I was slightly disappointed. The name Marvin Gaye has a lot of weight in this genre of music, so I was expecting more classic-status-worthy songs. Not bad by any means, just good at its best and uninteresting at its worst. Worth a listen. Bye

Green Day
I'm not necessarily looking forward to listening to another Green Day album, but at least this time the all the songs are actually divided into different tracks! And they're shorter. Let's see
This album came out 10 years before the other Green Day album I've been forced to listen to (American Idiot), and you can tell by these songs. Whatever you say about AI (I was trying to find a short-cut for American Idiot but it just reads as Artificial Intelligence lol dumb), in that album it feels like the band has a clearer idea of what they want to do, and actually have a kind-of unique sound to them. Judging by these first few tracks, it seems like early Green Day sounded like any other punk record. But let me no judge too early.
Liked the transition into Longview. But after finishing that song, this record hasn't had any memorable moments so far.
I'm really starting to think that maybe this just isn't for me. I like rock. I like punk. But maybe just... not this kind? Or maybe my prejudice against Green Day is far greater than I thought. I did find some enjoyment out of American Idiot, but this one just isn't doing it for me, and I jsut finished listening to two of the most famous songs here. But yes, I'll stick to the end...
Pulling teeth is the first song I've liked here!!! Good news!!!
Is Basket Case just gonna be about him being crazy? Because I'm sorry but that really aligns with the stereotype I have of Green Day listeners. The song itself is not bad at all! Just nothing that I have any desire to listen to again.
She has the lyrics "scream at me until my ears bleed" which is exactly the situation that, for some reason, I'm forcing myself into with this. I do like the message of the song, but again, no desire to ever subject myself to it.
Should I include a funny jab about wasting my time after with Sassafras Roots?
When I Come Around seems like my last hope. Please have something good here. I'm begging. Yeah ok I like this chorus. I'll throw a dog a bone, this is good.
Only five songs left, and the good news is they're all short! I'll be done in about 10 minutes. Yeyyyyy
I don't know if I'd like this better if the mixing was better? It does sound like it's supposed to hurt my ears (mission accomplished!).
I really like the little drum solo moment in In The End! Rest of the track is fine, but those 15 seconds are great.
I don't know what the fuck that last track was but it might have been one of my favourite moments on the record!
Overall, man....... I came into this list as an ignorant Green Day hater, but American Idiot made me swallow my pride and admit they could be good! Dookie just gave me reason to be a hater again. What even is that album name. I'm sure there's some dumb reason for it, but guess what, still dumb.
Again, this may just not be for me. In fact that is a strong possibility. In that case, I hope everyone that enjoys this keeps on enjoying it! I just won't be one of those people. Bye

The Slim Shady LP
Eminem
What is it with this list and making me confront my long-held prejudices? First Green Day, now this... Don't get me wrong, I'm sure there are a lot of good songs in both their discography, I just think it's funny. And I mean, I did enjoy one of the two Green Day albums I've been forced to listen to! So I'll try to stay hopeful for this. I just hope this is the one where he's kinda homophobic 'cause at least that would be funny for me.
I didn't know Eminem had started his career that late! I thought his peak had been during the 90's. Guess I was wrong.
That initial annoucement is fine, needed? Maybe not.
The word "impregnate" should never be used in a rhyme. But yeah, "My Name Is" is fun. Hate that stapling nuts line though.
Oh hell yeah I love songs like Guilty Conscience that have a concept. But yeah, I guess the heavy topics that first track was talking about have arrived! Damn I love his performance here. The best rap songs to me are the ones where they aren't afraid to act a bit weird.
The beats in this have been great, even if this third song isn't blowing my mind, it's still entertaining because of that.
If I Had is pretty interesting. He manages to balance """deeper""" questions with mentions of sucking dick and kissing ass. Like it.
'97 Bonnie & Clyde is an interesting take on that title. The storytelling is great. The diaper verse is kinda wild but hey whatever.
Not the first time I've heard a rapper respond to the criticism of being bad role models for young men, but this might be a favourite.
Love the different beat in My Fault. I wasn't expecting him to have a song from this angle, but I guess I really just had a prejudice against Eminem, sorryyy.
Dispite the dumb title, I really like Cum On Everybody (except for the chorus actually).
Rock Bottom is lyrically great, but the beat and chorus aren't that captivating.
I Just Don't Give A Fuck doesn't hit for me.
As The World Turns is another storytelling song, but it doesn't work the same way as previous ones. Also, did I hear it right, "gadget dick"? Oh ok. Yeah and the whole fatphobia thing gets tired quick (and yes I did hear the first track).
Bad Meets Evil is ok. Not bad, but nod good either.
Still Don't Give A Fuck is a fitting closer for the album. Not one of my favourites, but more exciting than the past few tracks. Fine
I'm pleasently surprised! I knew that Eminem had some good albums, but I wasn't expecting to enjoy this as much as I did. At first listen, there are no bad songs here, and I liked multiple. The beats are great. Could some tracks be cut to make the album a bit shorter? Sure, it would help it be more concise too, as it does drag on a bit too long. But as it is, it's pretty good. So yeah, nice experience here, bye.

Talking Heads 77
Talking Heads
Talking Heads are one of my favourite bands of all time, so seeing their name was both a relief and a reason for excitment. However, I haven't listened to this record in a while, so this re-visit should be interesting!
"Uh-Oh, Love Comes To Town" is a a classic, a great happy feel-good song. The chorus is memorable, and David Byrne's performance already sets the stage for what's to come. Lovely!
New Feeling is fun and funky. Not much to say other than that I enjoy it. I know Byrne's vocals are not for everybody but I sure like them here.
Tentative Decisions is fine. Some good moments, but not a stand-out. The same can be said for Happy Day, although it is better. The chorus is better than the versions, and the ending's the best part.
It's easy for Who Is It? to be lost among the pack, but it has always been one of my favourites, for some reason. It's stupidly simple, but the instrumentals are so fun, and it doesn't take itself seriously at all, so I love it.
No Compassion changes things up mood-wise, and I love it, specifically when these guitar riffs start appearing after Byrne's end-of-verse-statements. It does feel like there are two different songs here though, one being sandwiched between the other two, and I do prefer that middle part.
Book I Read is another highlight, as it seems to capture the moment of connection you feel when someone shares an interest with you. Again, this is just a feel-good funky song (I dare you to drink a shot every time I say a variation of the word funk). The hook's great. The verses are great. That bridge is expecially and finale are great. Just great all around.
Don't Worry About The Government is so great, but I kinda hate the "loooveeed ones, loooveeed ones, visit the building" part. I don't know. I hate start, maybe not the whole thing. But then the song returns to those great verses and I fall in love again. Yeyyy
First Week / Last Week... Carefree is a less weird but still weird enough, very catchy song.
Psycho Killer... wha to say. One of those songs that's been in my life as long as I can remember. I specifically remember singing the "fa fa fa fa" part with my uncle. So, I've been prepared to like David Byrne's adlibs since a kid. But besides personal attachment, this is just a banger. It's Byrne's over the top performance mixed with some great instrumentals, which result in the band's most famous song. Great stuff.
Pulled-Up is a great closer because, besides being a good song, it includes one of the best executions of the "yey I'm happy" feeling that is present is every track here. Again, the delivery adds so much to it, but the base is good on its own. Nice message too, hurray for friendship!
So yeah. I loved this. There were some tracks that didn't leave as much of a mark, and the band would go on to do some (even) better music, but this was one hell of a start! Not much else to say, I'm gonna go have a lovely time dancing alone in my room to Talking Heads. Bye!

NEU! 75
Neu!
I have never heard of this group, but judging by the imagery associated with it, and the fact that the album has 6 songs and the shortest is almost 5 minutes long, I'm very interested!
The first song starts of... not the way I was expecting it to! This is very soothing, not the experimental stuff I was expecting. i just finished said song, and if the whole album is just this, then I might be underwhelmed.
Ok, listening while knowing what to expect, I'm kinda digging this second track. It's a nice instrumental to have on.
This third track feels kind of monomental. It is perfect in setting the mood, the wave sounds work great and the addition of vocals give a great result.
Hero is definitely a mood changer! It immediately feels like a more straight-foward song. It has lyrics, and the instrumentals are more in line with a rock song. Hoever, I feel like the elements that set this record apart so far are missing here, as it feels like a song that any other group could have made. I do have to say though, the longer on it goes, the more I like it. Love the growly vocals.
I like E-Musik too! It's nice! But the last third feels like the drawn-out ending to a completely different song.
I'm having a weird experience with this album, as I start off every song not liking it, but somewhere halfway through they get to me. This was the case with the final track.
I'm in a weird position. I didn't really dislike anything, but I also wasn't in love with anything. There were a lot of moments here that I loved, but I'm not sure I'll ever have the wish to listen to the whole album again.
This is a similar experience as when I first listened to Kraftwerk. Sure, I recognize a lot of value here, and I can see how this was the foundation for what was to come, but I can't help but heavily prefer what came after this.
I'm guessing this is a record that opened up the doors for a lot of others to come, which is nice! And if that is the case, then I definitely support its celebration as an important part of music history. But as for my own personal enjoyment, i have to evaluate it for what it is, not for its influence. And as is, I don't where I stand. I'd really need more time and more listens to know how I really feel about this. Anyways, bye for now.

Better Living Through Chemistry
Fatboy Slim
Never heard of this, but it's 10 long songs that add up to 58 minutes. Let's seeeeeeee.
I'll be honest, with a name like that, I was not expecting the first song to sound like this. That being said, love this beginning. Kinda reminds me of the Futurama theme song (compliment). Alright, after finishing that first track I know what to expect, some quirky fun electronics. So far so good.
This second song is both longer and more "aggressive". There are some moments that I like, the ending, where multiple elements that have been built-up come together in a great way, but overall I do have my qualms with this. Still good though!
I like The Weekend Starts Here, despite its weird start. My favourite part is definitely the percussion and synths that mostly stay the same while other elements are added.
The fourth and fifth track kinda blended into each other for me, but I liked both. Nº 4 contained the return of the futurama vibes so I'm happy for that.
Give the Po'Man a Break is possibly my favourite so far. Not much else to say, I liked it immensely.
Next track has some fun moments but brings nothing new to the table. In fact, while the album is still fun, so far there seems to be no need for it to be so long.
I take back what I just said, the record does need to be this long if it means that First Down gets to exist in its full 6 minute glory.
Punk to Funk is fun, but at this point some songs sound too much alike.
And even though I like the climax of the closer, and it does manage to sum-up the sound of the album, it doesn't stand out too much on its own.
Overall, while this was fun and all, I don't know if I'll be coming back to it besides one or two tracks. It is too long, and some of the songs feel redundant. But, I still enjoyed my time. Is this an essential, must-listen record? Maybe not, but it might be worth your time. Bye

Who's Next
The Who
The Who is one of those groups that I've always been aware of but never listened to. Let's see what all the fuss is about
First track seems to be their most famous and...it's ok! I was expecting to love it, maybe more listens will do the trick, but this left me kind of underwhelmed. Love the ending though.
This is the most dad rock I've ever heard hahaha
Again, this second track's cool, I'm just not impressed. Maybe the fame these guys have game me some unfair expectations, but yeah. My favourite parts of both songs have been their endings.
"The Song is Over" is the first track i like all the way through, even if the beginning and other parts with different vocals the best. I don't know enough about this band to know who's who, but the vocals have been a part of why I couldn't like the previous songs. I prefer the vocals here, even in the parts where the same guy from the other tracks is singing.
Getting in Tune was good too!
I don't know if I'm just not in the mood for this, or if I'm just being a hater for no reason, but man this is just not hitting. It's crazy, cause I feel like Going Mobile should leave more of an impact, but as is it's doing nothing for me (like most of the album).
I had no idea that the "No one knows what it's like" song was from here what the hell. Oh ok. Sure, it's in that group of songs that I have a difficult time taking seriously because of its existence as a meme, but it is good!
Won't Get Fooled Again is good, but at the 4 minute mark it has already overstayed its welcome, and there are 4 more minutes to go so...
Yeah, after the first few tracks I was just waiting for this to be over... Having said that, the second half is much better than the first!
So, I am a bit surprised at the reception that this album seems to have had, considering what I just heard. It's not bad. At all. It's just not exciting. Maybe if this was the first rock album I ever heard I'd like it better. But the thing is that many better rock albums had been released in 1971. So I can't even use the "good for its time" excuse. Yeah, don't know what else to say. I'm listening to the first track again and I do like it better. But overall the album just doesn't make mee feel much. Yeah. Not for me I guess. Bye

This Is Fats Domino
Fats Domino
I was hard finding a full version of this album, had to use good old youtube. Let's seeeee.
Oh so it's that kind of 50's music!
This is the kind of music that I'll willingly dance to, even if I probably won't be the one playing it.
A lot of the not so dancy tracks are just going by.
This album is pretty harmless. Not too long for me to get tired of it, and not bad at all. Just nothing that wows me here. There were some good moments, some good tracks that I'll keep with me, but I don't predict a time where I'll want to listen to this again. Bye

Hotel California
Eagles
Love the title track, but all I've ever heard about this album is that besides that there are no other stand-outs. Let's see if that statement rings true.
Haven't heard that first song in a while, but damn is it good. Great storytelling. Love singing along.
I wasn't sure about this second track, but the quiet moment with the lines "You look in her eyes/ the music begins to play" has me sold. Lovely!
Life in the Fast Lane is fun and fine but nothing that really moves me.
Wasted Time is well made and all, but New Kid in Town explored the same mood in a better way.
Victim of Love, while very simple, is a welcome change in mood. Like the guitar riffs throughout!
The vocals in this next track remind me of Bowie. It's a nice enough song, I could see myself moving a lighter at a live concert to it.
Despite being very similar to some past tracks, Try And Love Again actually hit a chord with me!
The Last Resort is a great closing track and it seems to be in support of native americans and anti colonialism? Yeah, it's a great song.
Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by this album. I was expecting one good opener followed by some boring 70's dad rock, but that was not the case! Good experience, and while the high of the first track was never again matched, there are still some gems here. Bye-bye

Remain In Light
Talking Heads
Another album I can listen to on vinyl, yeyy!! I love Talking Heads, and this is my favourite from them, so this will be a pleasent revisit! I associate this album to summer afternoons on the bus coming home from school. Anyway, let's go!
Immediately in the first seconds of the first song your ears are assaulted by a multitude of sounds. It is impossible to stay neutral to what you are hearing. Personally, I love it, from the bass to the quirky guitars to the vocal delivery (and those ad-libs). This kind of funk and brasilian influence is right up my alley. Great way to set a mood and start a record. In an album with multiple career-highs, this is one of the highest.
Crosseyed and Painless has always been a favourite of mine, but I've been going back to it a lot lately. Again, a variety of noise at all times, but in this one I specifically love the chorus (stiiiiiill waiting), the manic vocals, and the little "rap" at the end. Greattttt.
The Great Curve is a the biggest track, a giant in the midst of the record. It is also the last track where that factor of no-rest-for-you-ears is present. I'm listening to this on speakers, but I still remember hearing this on headphones for the first time and feeling like I was experiencing at least two songs at the same time. This will certainly keep your brain fully busy. It's the most experimental moment in an already very experimental album. Love it!
Then comes Once in A Lifetime, the biggest hit here and one of the band's biggest songs. It has become iconic, along with its accompanying music video, which perfectly captures the music's personality. This is a hit in the way only Talking Heads could do a hit.
So, these first four songs have always been my favourite, and for a while I didn't connect to the other four. This changed, with time, but while I like them, I am not as familiar with them as with the rest. So, each new time I listen to them is still interesting, as I may notice some things I hadn't before.
Houses in Motion is tough because I love the verses, and the laid-back almost cool vocals there, and the chorus is my least favourite part. Still great though.
I love Seen and not Seen. It is a departure from the maniac vocal delivery, David Byrne sounding very distant and withdrawn here, but still the same weird out there lyrics.
Listening Wind is another one that I had to get used to, but it has grown on me with time. The percussion here is great, and the storytelling continues the same high it reached in the previous track.
Now, The Overload... the one track here I don't like. I know the story of why it was made, and honestly that seems more interesting than the song itself. Instrumentally, it kind of reminds me of some moments from Bowie's Low. But yeah, it goes on for too long.
This album is a classic, and deservedly so. I've never heard anything else quite like it. Talking Heads evolve in a way that makes sense considering their previous efforts but is still brand new. The album manages to be experimental and still contain the band's DNA, and it is so much fum. So yeah, definately worthy of an inclusion on this list, and any time I spend listening to the record is time well spent. Bye
