1001 Albums Summary

Until today I've never listened to The Youngbloods. I quite enjoyed this, I enjoyed the progressive nature of some of the songs. Standout tracks for me were Darkness, Darkness and Quicksand. Not sure I will revisit it but I enjoyed what I heard.

I did not enjoy this. Could not stand the vocalist. It did nothing for me all.

This was something that surprised me. I enjoyed the guitar and thought there solos were great.

I initially quite like this but felt that it just droned on and on at the end. Just couldn't tell one song from another and it all just sounded very similar.

This was very different but actually quite enjoyable.

I am huge fan of a band called Opeth who list Rush among their influences. This was very evident and I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this.

Not really much to say about this. Quite a boring album.

Other than the song that everyone knows this was quite a boring album.

I not ure if this was deliberate bit I got this album the day after the death of Ozzy Osbourne. This album is just amazing. Osbournes unique vocal style, Iommi's heavy riffs, Butler and Ward providing excellent rhythm. Thee guys made metal and Ozzy will be greatly missed by all RIP Ozzy 🤟🏻

The Cure are a band that has evaded me almost entirely but I have to say this was excellent. Will be looking at their other albums.

Probably the most boring thing ive listened too so far during this. Awful.

This is absolute peak Sepultura. This is an album I actually own and haven't listened to for a long time. I really enjoyed re-visiting it and fell in love with Sepultura all over again.

This is a very solid live album from what I think is quite a mediocre band.

This was ok. Some interesting moments but not a band that I will be looking at again

Boring Boring Boring

I enjoyed the bluesy and cool feel but can't see where the "Heavy Metal" elements are that are so often stated on this. Also one star down for Rod Stewart on vocals. Can't stand the guy.

Great album. Love the mix of genres. I'm very lucky to have seen them live at Download Festival 2009. I should listen to more of their albums really.

I don't know what this was and why it's held in such high regard. Absolutely awful. Nonsense lyrics about mustard and custard. Never going back to this or have any interest in his other work.

I actually enjoyed this quite a bit...until I read about this guy. Wow a racist nonce who basically owed his whole career to black music.

In my early twenties I found the "1" greatest hits album amongst their CD collection. For one summer I loved The Beatles and then I never really went back. I enjoyed this album but it hasn't ignighted that love for them again. Obviously the cover art is iconic now. I will await more Beatles albums to see if that love comes back.

This reminded me of the soundtrack to one of my favorite movies Drive. Really enjoyed some of the tracks but it got a bit samey after a while.

A bit of Elvis never hurt anyone really.

I'm starting to realise there is quite a lot of bring shite on this list. This is one such album...1 hour and 15 minutes of the same boring beat. Why is this essential?

I listened to 3 songs on this and got bored. Not my thing really.

Initially I did not like this. But I enjoyed the last few songs.

I enjoyed this musically but found it was all the same towards the end. I also had no idea what a horrible racist Eric Clapton was.

Layla is the only reason to listen to this very generic blues album.

I listened to the first part of this album as I ran out of time over a busy weekend, but wow it was great. Will put this on my list of things to listen too again and get on their back catalogue.

Another loading screen album. This was at least somewhat listenable and quite nice as background music while I cooked dinner.
