A mellow listen sort of reminiscent of folk groups from the 60's sort of like Pentangle or Lindisfarne.
This album was a killer when it came out. Me and my brother would go to Dave's house and hang out because he had a Macintosh amp and Bose Speakers and a Dual turntable; this album would always be cued up and it just sounded so great with that equipment. His sister was dating a doctor and he had upgraded his stereo. Dave got the old items.( they were practically new!) Wish I knew what he upgraded to! 21st Century Schizoid Man was just so incredibly awesome.
The most satirical rock n roll group ever. Just plain strange. The Beatles - probably John - loved them. John , you can love anything you want. That's why you were a genius!!
This is a very interesting album not appreciated by the masses but still it has a poignancy that shows off Ray Davies poetic style and obtuse song writing.
While other bands were thundering away, The Kinks went in a very different direction. He is a master of subtlety and showing off the underside of British life. It deserves more attention than it got!
This is such an incredible album that came out in 1964. The Beatles were everywhere and radio stations played their music all the time. No one came close to the music these guys made and the movie was just like all those Elvis movies but 300 times better!!
A very soulful, emotionally charged album. It is quite an experience to just listen to Mr. Buckley put all that emotion into a song. It leaves you feeling deeply affected by his songs.
Unbelievable jazz with total Latin vibe. Like a hot summer day on the beach.
Dylan at his best when the Rolling Thunder Review was touring and playing some of these songs. He is a grand master of incredible songs and truly expresses deep emotions. It was an incredible concert and the album was on deep rotation when it was released.
The defining moment when The Rolling Stones upped the ante in the rock 'n roll arena. this album and the ensuing tour which seems to still be going shows how incredible and diverse the Stones were. Saw them live right around the time this album was released and it was just raw power and as kick ass as could be. Every other rock band envied what The Rolling Stones were doing.
Paul is one of the best musicians and songwriters of all time but something is missing without the others. He has been producing music his whole life and is definitely one of the most prolific performers of all time but this album is rather sophomoric. There are great songs like Maybe I'm Amazed,Every Night, and a few others but it is missing the edge provided by the other 3 Beatles. That's why they were such a success because it was a 4 headed machine that conquered the whole world. But it took 4 extremely different personalities.
The blues and heavy rock have been amped up thanks to this album. Every song has got that seriously loud and heavy , polished sound that just blows all other bands away so far they need a spacecraft to get back to earth and try to compete. It is a masterpiece of really awesome rock 'n roll.
Real Americana music that is really deeply invigorating and original. This album has everything the mid 60's enthusiast wants without all the pretensions and you can feel the earth under your feet and know you have found nirvana.
When this album was released in 1973 and was listened to it just blew my mind with the absolute funkiness and wild sounds that were so out of this world. It definitely took the reigns from Miles Davis who innovated a new style of "funky" fusion jazz; and flew to a new planet with the force of a powerful rocket. Listen and be blown away.
Bob is back with a really killer album. It oozes a very moody and introspective viewpoint that is centuries ahead of the music in 1997. These songs are soooo deep and making the listener wake up and realize there's more to life than the average run of the mill music that was around when this came out.

A great Americana album with really original sounding music that is just laid back and swingin' like on a hammock. These guys really are masters of this genre and made a very interesting and listenable album. Being the back up band for Dylan really allowed them to hone their craft and it is overwhelmingly amazing.
This seriously awesome tripped out electric music album has got the power of 3 nuclear power plants. It is so powerful and forceful with the stylings of jazz and samba but clearly a very electric album. They prove without a doubt that they were in control of the music scene after their performance at Woodstock. This album was meant to be savored fully and to totally soak up the power of it.
This is the second crown of the 4 albums that have changed the mood of music starting in 1967-68. They gave up on psychedelia and went back to their roots. The Stones got back to being in control and showing the world that musically they are and always will be the kings. It has such deep , edgy, music that it makes your skin crawl. It also kicks you in the head and makes you get up and shake you booty. Out of the 4 albums that are considered some of their best I believe this is the best.
The police were very popular at this point and it was like anything they did was to #1. I like this album for its listenable quality but it is a little bit saccharine like. The songs are very good and subject matter is powerful but at the same time it is not something I listen to regularly. Their musician ship is top notch and that's a definite plus.
Don't like Bruce Springsteen - too pretentious.
This is a powerful album that came out in 1967. It was a lot different than the "psychedelic" albums by other groups. This was a raw, heavy, album that was a break from the flowery albums of the day. Jim Morrison had a very intoxicating voice and the subject matter was rather unique. Bold , sexy, rock and roll with blues thrown in.
I do not like Boston every radio station in America plays their songs incessantly; pure unadulterated yeech.
This album kicks ass so deeply. If you are not up and shaking , moving or just plain gone goofy, there is something wrong with you.
Great album if you like world music. It has a powerful message.
