This shit was silly. At the beginning it feylt like I was listening to an early nine inch nails, and at the end, it felt like it was an early American Football. I liked the general vibe, favorite track was wish I was skinny.
I liked this album. Didn't t love it but enjoyed it a lot. I enjoyed that all the songs felt authentic to biggie's lived experience, and often led into each other with some short skit or scene about life in the hood. I wasn't the biggest fan of how the album had one speed the whole time, would have loved some variety to pack some punch into a few key points or themes. That being said all the tracks were solid so hey, if it ain't broke don't try to fix it. Shout-out to how he sampled artists like the Sugar Hill Gang and the Beastie Boys(?), and then has like 3 of the transition skits about just, fuckin'. My favorite tracks were the ones with the most catchy backing track like Respect, but my favorite was for sure The What with the train whistle sample.
Honestly, I was expecting a little more from blur... I can definitely feel the early gorillaz sound that Damon Albarn was trying to cultivate, but it felt way to brit-pop for me. Give me this album and I'll just wish it was a Green Day album, but I can appreciate the opening track which is timeless, and London Loves for what they brought to the table and are the only reason I would give this a 3 and not a 2, though this may be harsh because I had high expectations for stuff Damon Albarn has had a hand in.
U2 is my mothers favorite band. In spite of this fact, I haven't listened to a lot of their stuff. Although I have listened to some of the hits off this album, and can say ***if you don't have the patience to listen, at least listen to With Or Without You and I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For***. These tracks to me are the quintessential U2 songs. The album itself was good but those two songs are the real highlights.
Honestly, would have rated higher if enjoyed this music more! If I could I'd give it a 3.5 because this album was really well made but it's just not for me. All the songs fit well, they have a clear vibe and style, and they Bjork's style is really unique! She samples cool stuff like pots and pans, and makes really catchy beats with it, though I think her vocals fall just a little flat. Enjoyable for a listen or a dance to, favorite track was crying. Fun take on a sad emotion with a piano lick that makes me feel like death!
Well they do say you have to fight for your right to party, and with lines as poignant as "I'll beat a biter down with alunimum bat", and beats that sound like they down pitched the bad aftermath of an upsetting Taco Bell order, what's not to love. Favorite track of the album was Shake Your Rump with honorable mention to The Sounds of Science
Nifty opening track, right out the gate they sound like CCR. Honestly thought this album was just a solid album, but nothing of note. It is indeed CCR and they do indeed hit you with that style the entire way through. Nothing wrong with it, it's just nothing ground breaking. My favorite track was Run Through The Jungle, and I enjoyed all the tracks with a catchy or weird guitar line the most.
Honestly, this felt like Arctic Monkeys as they were meant to be enjoyed. big deep drums, guitar licks played on strings of thick sinew, high hats that make you anxious and hurry whatever it is your doing, and lyrics that make you feel like you're running out of time. I really enjoyed this album, and felt like all the tracks were well made and thought out, and fit the album well. Favorite track of the album was Dancing Shoes, with honorable mention to Marry Bum, and a shoutout to British people.
Fun album! all the songs lead into each other quite well, and have great tunes. A very classic sort of blues album, Live At The Regal really does feel like an intimate soiree with B.B. King. I could well see myself getting lost in this album at a barbecue kicking back or at a late night musing of my own with friends over a hand of poker or game of pool. Great ambience. Favorite track was Help The Poor.
The first track would be fascinating listen while on something, but I'm not on something, so my listening experience was really not all that. I thought it had some interesting uses of echoes, and repeating guitar licks that change slightly each time they're replayed. The other tracks were great! My favorite was Can You Get To That, with You And Your Folks, Me And My Folks being another honorable mention. Not a fan of how 10 minutes of time was spent on the opener and closer (2/3 of the album). Really wasn't all that, but the few songs between were great!
Not my favorite album, especially since at least in the recordings I listen to there was high pitched ringing in the background. Certainly an album, but compared to some of the other albums I've heard on this list, not an incredible cut. My favorite track was No Easy Way Down.
Not the biggest fan of this album. Just felt like it was a cool album from a unique noise perspective, but it really didn't have a lot of god feeling songs. Favorite track on the album was Golden Years, which was good, and had that cool clicking noise and echoing effects, and was the one song I felt was catchy on the album.
Fun album! Enjoyed it thoroughly, not much to say about this other than that it was a nice jam to listen to, but not exactly anything insane, just a good cut. Would love it if there were more songs with lyrics, as a lot of the space felt more dance music like, but for what the album did it did well!
Really enjoyed this album. Was doing advanced natural product synthesis (shout-out all my organic chemists in undergrad) while listening through this album for the first time and it was awesome. This album really makes you feel like your moving somewhere quick with its slap base riffs and heated drum lines. Favorite album cut off the album was Dig Your Own Hole.
Nifty album. Very Americana and classic rock. Honestly don't have much more to say about this album. Favorite track was Breakdown.
Yeah okay honestly was not quite expecting this album to show up! Very funny that it did though. I'm a big fan! never listened all the way through until now, and I really appreciate this albums emotional depth. Favorite track off the album was VCR.
Really great album, had some great tracks on there and was a very chill and specific type of jazz vibe that I feel is really hard to get right, and Kiwanuka nails it here. All the tracks felt well made and meshed well, while the songs that stood out made you appreciate their stand alone vibe. Though I love Piano Jointly, my favorite track on the album was You Ain't The Problem.
Not a huge fan. This album made me feel like I had just done a bunch of ketamine and was lying on the floor with a pounding headache after the come down. Some of the songs were fine, but I would need to be in a very specific state and mood to actively seek out this album or music off of it.
This album was a very cool, and what I perceived as niche vibe. Very wispy, high, falsetto almost vocals over low piano which was an interesting combination. The album did well to highlight the singers voice, but fell flat because how every word they say is drawn way out and makes the vocals almost annoyingly sung. That being said, calming listen. Favorite track was Memphis Skyline.
Good middle of the road album. End song is a hit, and an all-time heater, but the rest of the tracks are just alright. Consistent vibe, and the tracks all worked well, but very obviously my favorite track on the album was Don't You Want Me.
Eclectic album, lot of different rock rhythms on here, some screaming others chill. Thought it was meh in all honesty. Can't think of a favorite track on this album, they were all alright.
Really good album, the whole thing has got a great vibe about it and has a good mix of instrumentals and vocals on the tracks. Favorite track on the album was Wish You Were Here.
Perhaps one of the best jazz albums ever dare I say. The tracks speak for themselves. This album is incredible, its got great songs on it, they are all unique but fit well together in an album, the art on the album is cool, and the trumpet and piano take turns being the stars of the show. Favorite track on the album is for sure Take Five.
Great album, had a lot of sort of woodstock folk elements to it that I loved. Definitely keeping this album in my back pocket for a chill rainy day or trip through the mountains. Favorite track on the album was Who Knows Where The Time Goes.
An interesting album. I really enjoy a few of the songs on here, such as Sloop John B., and Wouldn't it be Nice. I appreciated the funny noises, but overall it was just alright. I know critics and others will say this album was insane and groundbreaking, but I think it's just not quite my sound. Favorite song was God Only Knows.
This album is very fun, all the songs feel like I'm in a dark forest and I hear this over my dog dying or something, which is a particular vibe... Favorite song on the album was for sure Blue Ridge Mountains.
Heater honestly, would be great for a misty morning with some rain falling is how I would describe it. Lots of unique sounds and noises in here, and I really fuck with the art and aesthetic of this album. Favorite track is probably two-weeks. Really like the drums on that track.
