His outlaw era is better. This is more like his "unpaid parking ticket" era.

Wild Horses always makes me cry, but The Rolling Stones are much better at singles than albums.

So special to have this much banter on the record. The best part to me was when Kurt says “I guarantee you I will screw this song up” and then delivers one of the greatest covers in history.

I try so hard with REM. I sit down and listen intently. I clear distractions. I make sure I’m in a good mood. I do everything to try and like them, for I know they are so influential to more than a handful of my favorite bands. And yet, I can never get into it. I never enjoy it apart from the hits- and I don’t even like all the hits. This album does absolutely nothing for me but I’m glad that there are people out there that love it.

One of Bowie’s worst early career albums. I can’t imagine any reason for its inclusion on this list other than its iconic cover making people overstate the significance of the music itself.

Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards' master work - handily among the greatest albums of all time (whether determined by this stupid 1001 list or otherwise). Maybe I'm hallucinating on the hoagie fumes, but the sisters, Rodgers, and Edwards bring something distinctly "Philadelphia" to disco here. "We Are Family" is perfect in every sense and I will never say no to a cover-to-cover listen. I want to give a special mention to my favorite Sister Sledge track - "Thinking of You" - which is certainly not overlooked per se but does seem to take a back seat to the other side one hits in the contemporary cannon.

A little sugary but there are some good ones here, especially "Our House." Great for a calm and quiet morning. Update, six hours later: I have "Our House" on repeat. I cannot stop listening to it, it's so beautiful.

When I first listened to this, I thought "I must be in the wrong mood to listen." However, after revisiting it multiple times over a couple of days, I can safely say that I do not like this album. It is grating.

Pretty good

I ate this hipster stuff up 2011-2014 but it feels so dated now. It feels like a dream, but I'd rather be awake.

From what little I know about Everything But the Girl, it seems like they were one of the last Sophisti-pop holdouts. I think as they aged, they got closer to a Sade sound. As for this earlier album, it's a miss on many fronts. I don't know why it's included on this list. All of the songs feel like karaoke ballads (derogatory).

Not really a Neil Young fan and not for lack of trying. "Heart of Gold" is one of his best songs, but there's not much here for me otherwise.

There is better hair metal out there but this is pretty good. Wish it had been more synth-forward as the beginning tracks implied.

"Green Onions" is one of the three songs that the septuagenarian Italian-American blues band plays at Bob and Barbara's in Philly every weekend. Anyway, I make sure that I get out of there as fast as I can once they start to set up. Wish I could have run away from this album too.

It is annoying that I have been randomly assigned four Neil Young albums over one month and I would like to hear something else besides 70s folk rock in general (whose dad made this list anyway?) but still, this one is pretty good.

I think a lot of people's affinity for this comes out of the Dennis Wilson's tragic life. I'm ambivalent about both.

The way every song returns to the titular - perfection.

Damon Albarn expended his entire creative energies on Demon Days and almost everything after has been complete shit.

Kind of a superficial album lyrically and soncially, released at the beginning of a worldwide revolution.

Really interesting work. Feels like a monumentally important album in the history of sampling.

What am I doing here? This is the 39th album I've listened to. How could I possibly tolerate over 900 more albums selected by the most pathetic group of alcoholic dads ever assembled?

Would be a perfect album if all the goofy late 80s blues rock instrumentation was replaced by the wonderful DX7 synth patches employed on the rest of the tracks.

These Californians taking on Louisiana personas reminds me of how the New Yorkers in Vampire Weekend pretended to be from Massachusetts.

I would usually say that I don't like Peter Gabriel, but this album is great.

This one certainly got me through some rough times.
