The Bends by Radiohead
Dec 16 2025

Starts out and I think “oh okay, not bad but maybe not something I’d listen to all the time. By the end of the 3rd song I’ve changed my mind. I’ve found the depth I was seeking. This is when I decided I should pick a favorite song from every album I listen to and make a playlist. We’re now in fake plastic trees and I’m thinking this has to be my favorite song. I’m convinced. I’m only four songs in though. I feel like this album hits a climax mid album and then slopes downward in power and aggression. A good album. I’d listen again. And yeah fake plastic trees is the winner but Bones was a close second for me.

Blackstar by David Bowie
Dec 17 2025

David Bowie is classic as fuck but an almost 10 minute first song is a little overkill but it’s his last album so let the man do whatever the hell he wants. He’s already a legend when this came out. This album is very clearly Bowie wrestling with and coming to acceptance of his own mortality. A melancholy undertone to every song…almost. I could handle Girl Loves Me but probably because it’s a Monday and he says fuck.

Transformer by Lou Reed
Dec 18 2025

Lou Reed was what I needed today. I’m surprised by how much I truly enjoyed this album. I think he was a bit before his time. Mixing genres and sounds and bringing up raising questions that led to a more open and collaborative music scene.

3 Feet High and Rising by De La Soul
Dec 19 2025

Changed hip hop as we knew it. As far as debut albums go this is peak success. Soulful and positive for the time, a shift from the violent gangster rap of its time. I think De La Soul popularized the hip Jo skit. With no fear of being silly they almost poke fun of the seriousness in rap at that time. A classic, no notes. Something to come back to when you need something upbeat and fun.

Cosmo's Factory by Creedence Clearwater Revival
Dec 20 2025

John Fogertys voice scratches my brain in a way i can’t explain. Creedence is classic, it reminds me of my childhood and my dad. This album is hit after hit. The groove of the album doesn’t quit from start to finish. For a rainy day listening this album kept me up beat. What more could you ask for?
