Stevie Wonder is obsessed with sinning and saying goodbye to some ladies. Boogie on Reggae Woman is a jam. Heaven is 10 Zillion Light years away is a catchy song but it’s about God or Jesus, I think.
I liked this more than I thought I would. It starts out like the soundtrack to a duel and stays that way. Not running music.
Some good songs here, but also some real doozies. Maybe I don’t get it but A Day in the Life of a Tree and Student Demonstration Time came off as jokey. A song about Kent State that sounded like Bad to the Bone? Also, does anybody think that the end of These Things I’ll Be Til the Day I Die is kind of like “I Got Soul But I’m Not a Soldier”?
Lush. Sounds like my college beau.
I dig it all, though a lot of the songs sound the same. Save a Prayer is such a jam.
Each song kills me. Ending with We’ll Meet Again? Such a death. Side note: my favorite song has been I Hung My Head, which I later discovered was written by Sting. I still love it.
Lost Cause seems based on such a universal feeling and is also such a burn for a loved one. A nice departure for an artist known for goof. Love love love.
I like Soul Kitchen. I haven’t listened to these songs since college. At Ohio State in the late 90s, you would typically hook up to this album or something by Jimmy Buffet. So these songs remind me of some regrettable evenings with men who believed they were poets.
Boys and Girls is a great song. I just didn’t like the rest. Played the album in the car and Iggy seemed to like it. “Only when they are singing, not while they are talking.”
I remember when the sun caught me crying. So embarrassing! Songs are good but I’d prefer to not have Andy Williams style production values and background carolers.
Iggy likes this - found a clean playlist of this on Spotify. We had to unpack a lot about Kim and Hailie. I prefer funny Eminem to the Eminem that wants his daughter’s help killing mom or is questioning whether or not to date rape someone.
Not my favorite genre. Some of these dongs are fifteen minutes long. I liked Confusion the Waitress.
You know, I dig most of these songs.
The long intros to these songs are unnecessary, especially for music that sounds like the soundtrack to Mannequin. Sorry for being so hurtful.
Music for making out at a block party.
I love this man’s voice. Gravelly and smooth at the same time!
Country and Western is nowhere near how would I describe this album. This was better than the other Ray Charles on this list. So I’m guess I’m learning that Ray Charles songs harken back to my unrequited middle school crushes. These song titles absolutely represent my seventh grade love life:
I Love You So Much it Hurts
You Don't Know Me
Born to Lose
Oh, Lonesome Me
Teardrops in My Heart
Hang Your Head in Shame
I imagine this music playing over footage of some teens in a field of daisies. They are from the 1970s. At first, the teens are kind of running around and playing, but they end up losing their virginity.
I knew some of these songs, but never listened to the entire album. I like it.
Question: if you’re asked to kiss Van Morrison’s eyes, are they open or closed?
