Very easy listening album, solid background noise.
3/5
Relaxing, peaceful vibe to sonk into although some songs felt a bit boring.
Not really my genre
2/5
Just a bit ehh, not as exciting as White Stripes
Great punk, high energy music
Pretty amazing songwriting for being so stripped back voice and guitar
Really enjoyed the organ playing and vibe. Unreal
Pleasant
Sounded a bit the same overall. Great energy fast paced rock n roll. Impressive 3 piece great sound. Probably still a 2 though from me.
Decent story telling but god I hate country music.
Boring
Bit corny but amazing musicianship. I love the influences that came from this album.
Wanted to love it but I just didnt think it was anything special. Maybe thats the influence of the album
However, I loved the production but the songs were mediocre.
A modern classic. Great rough cuts mixed with hits.
Really peaceful album, good story telling but the charm wore off on the 2nd listen for me
Fun energy, strong start, really catchy rhythms hard not to put you in a good mood. Some songs towards the end make you feel like your in a football stadium but dont feel like songs so much. I dunno, fun vibe, feeling a 4.
Really enjoyed
This is album is probably the most effective form of punishment I have ever witnessed. Woeful album, I counted down every minute until it was over.
Really enjoyed, not as much as the debut though.
I really enjoyed the variety of lyrical topicals and all songs felt really fun.
Alright but better examples of this british style out there, largely forgetable
Was a box set really necessary?
Music was enjoyable, but a bit bloated.
Actually 2/5 changed my mind.
Knee deep in muck
Who says a funk ban can't play rock music.
Hard to avoid bias when ive had 4 trip hop albums recently. This was the best one, but I still think its a boring genre.
Picture yourself at the train station, you ask a stranger
"Excuse me, do you have the time?"
He gazes at you as he pretentiously replies
"Do any of us really know, what time it is?
"Haha, yea cool thats so deep...anyway if I could just get the time so I can get out of here?"
"Oh sure, just let me ...*8 minutes of pretentious shredding*"
Was really excited when I heard horns but unfortunately just felt like a mash of instrumententation.
Most self indulgent record ive ever heard. Instrumental music that doesn't fit the song mixed with weak lyrical ideas that shouldnt have made it out of a highschool textbook.
As a lover of prog music, Im sure this made a great influence to the bands I love, but thank god this isnt where the genre stayed.
Peaceful at first but fell off a bit
Its god damn David Bowie!
Not my genre at all really but some very fun songs
Janis has some pipes doesn't she?
Enjoyed the start but as a whole it lost its appeal somewhat.
A band that all my favorite bands love. Loved the roughness and the style but nothing special.
Never understood the Smiths. Morrissey is also an awful singer, glad it speaks to some people but god its depressing with little redeeming factors. Must be in a good mood cause its a 2
Modern classic. Great lyrics that sum up living in the mid 2000s.
US version is definitely the stronger of the 2 releases. Great songwriting.
Whiney, lyrics, blah blah blame society edgelord. Im angry but can't articulate why kinda music. I love oldskool punk but not this. Drummers not bad.
For a legendary rapper, it was like 20% of dog metaphors. Kinda disappointed.
Album is fun, lots of variety. No ziggy Stardust but pretty g
Very ehh album that I think even Slipknot would agree. Some great singles but as an album its quite boring. Joey Jordinson was something special though wasnt he? Also Corey's range saves this album. Very forgetful but Psychological is always welcome.
Enjoyable, sure.
Not my genre
I absolutely love this album, I don't think anyone loves it as much as Billy Corgan does though.5 stars a classic.
Great guitar work.
At times it kind of felt like being on hold.
Debating between a 2/3. Feeling generous cause nice singles.
Chill vibes
This was fun!
Love Crowded House, an Aussie band that deserved the hype to crack the US.
Some very solid pubk attitude to this one.
Never got into Fugazi in a big way but I respect the fuck out of them.
Not a fan of Live Albums on here, im also not really a fan of compilation albums either. But this was a great listen.
A classic.
Love Cohen, but won't be in rotation
Pretty boring, self indulgent
Great voice, great lyrics, enjoyable vibe
This is a 5. Band had a legendary run from Origin to Resistance but unfortunately fell off after Drones. This was certainly them at their creative peak. Knights of Cydonia is a better candidate for a modern Bohemian Rhapsody than Black Parade and Ill stand by that.
Anyway, I never like reviews that focus on anything but the album, so lets do it. 3 of their biggest songs from this album alone. Map of the Problematic was a forgotten gem that id forgotten along with Assassin so I was very pleased to get this.
Its made me go back on a deep dive of the Muse catalog, I hope Ill hear Absolution on this list.
Amazing voice and one of the best examples of what a (Largely) 3 piece should be.
Less exciting than other Marley releases Ive listened to so far. High or Low Tide was nice though.
Never really got into Adele, dont get me wrong she has an amazing voice, good lyrics and I think she largely meets the hype. But its just a boiled chicken and vegies. Its always nice when the mainstream hypes up a clearly talented musician but the whole thing feels very safe and clinical.
Great singles, could have been a 5 but a poor side 2. Still, given the legacy of it, Im gonna bump it to a 4. I really enjoyed the first 4 songs.
Pleasant. Like R.E.M but I've always been a fan of the singles and found the non singles a bit slow.
My Dad had this album growing up, never made it through the whole thing. Glad for the excuse, appreciate the vibe, enjoyed it but wouldn't listen again.
Even the bad songs are good. Cept R9 that song sucks ass. 4.5
Not my type of music at all but found myself enjoying the builds.
Didnt think there was much to this
Largely boring and uninspired.
Not the cures best, bit on the boring side
Eh
Thoroughly enjoyed
Mellow, I heard seen this album before so it was nice to connect the dots. Not my genre gave it my best but I think a 3 would be too generous.
Not even worth commenting on its that boring.
Perfectly acceptable album. I even enjoyed a song. However im giving it a 1 because when I think about the 1stars on this list, they are far more noteable.
When I started I really wanted to give this album a 1.
Cause I fucking hate how overplayed September has become. THIS THO, not Bad EW&F, Not bad at all!
Yes, Bjork is great but does anyone really think that if it weren't for her later work that this album would really be included? B- 52s comparisons are on point, Blokes voice was annoying. I just wanted a Bjork rock album.
The best Metal album of all time, easy 5.
Gonna sound uncultured, liked drumming but the mostly felt like some peeps just playing a wall of instruments.didnt make me feel anything.
Vince: Why do you keep goin’ on about jazz for?
Howard: Because it’s the most important art form in the 20th century.
Vince: No one listens to jazz. Science teachers and the mentally ill, that’s all jazz is for.
Howard: You better take that back, you electro ponce.
Vince: Or what?
Howard: You better just take it back, that’s all.
Vince: I won’t be taking that back, I’ll be leaving it out there for all to see.
Howard: Drink it back up.
Vince: No. I hate jazz.
Howard: You hate jazz? You fear jazz. Huh?
Vince: Shut your mouth.
Howard: Ahhhh… you fear jazz, don’t you?
Vince: No I don’t.
Howard: You fear the lack of rules, the lack of boundaries. Oh its a fence, no its soft, ahh… What’s happening? The shapes, the chaos! Huh? It has to be simple nursery rhymes for you, doesn’t it? [to the tune of a nursery rhyme] Dee di dee di dee dee di. When the melody gets abstract, you mess your trousers and run to your mummy. [Howard starts scat singing].
Didnt fall in love on my first listen either, but I really like this album and the story it tells. Some songs are epic highs like Fit but you know it, Empty Cans, Blinded by the Lights, Supposed to be so easy. But it isnt without its flaws.
I mean its pleasant, i guess it is important to someone.
This was a fun enjoyable rap album. I wouldn't fall in love with it but Id call it a 3.
Took a few restarts but really enjoyed it by the end. Also great to see an Aussie in this list
Dont like reggae but I like this
It sounded like the Smiths, I fucking hate the Smiths.
Then came the wave of violins etc. I'm glad some people like this, cause I sure don't.
I was really hoping for for some aggressive girl punk.
Not todat sadly, tis another 1 star
