I’ve loved this album since 2013, when my twin sister and I were mere high schoolers believing we were becoming inside a world that was wide open. We’d roll down the windows of our mom’s car, open the moon roof, and blast a CD burned with the songs from this record. The music takes you on a journey through a neighborhood and makes you feel like you belong to something much larger—larger, even, than life. With this album, I return to my teenage years and precious moments with my twin sister.
Fine listening, but not mind-blowing in any way. Nice enough lead voice, nice enough melodies, but that sums up my thoughts on this album: nice enough.
80s music just doesn’t do it for me. The sound is too echoey and synthetic, which I understand was part of the technological innovation of the time, but it’s not for me. I mostly just wanted to stop listening, but I gave the album a chance and finished it.
No huge comments other than I will never not love the sound of the late 60s/early 70s.
Not my fav Arctic Monkeys, but it does capture a quintessential indie rock sound of the 2000s
Love hearing the evolution in Neil Young’s music from acoustic folk to rock via this album.
Found it weird the first time I heard it years ago, but now I love it.

There were couple that struck me in particular, but I think I prefer later R.E.M.
I was also surprised to hear some similarities with The Decemberists and sometimes Pearl Jam. I’ll need to see what, if any, influences were involved.
It’s hard not to give the Beatles anything less than four stars.

Liked it better than expected! Still not my cup of tea—doesn’t make me feel many emotions—but it’s more than tolerable. I can see why people love it, especially if the songs are tied to memories.

Simply put, a masterpiece of feeling, with Jeff Buckley’s voice the central instrument.
