I couldn't believe it when I learned that this is the album that birthed prog rock! I don't listen to the genre at all, but I got an idea of what it's like. The album sounds like it was made well after the genre came to be. It's insane to think that a single band could just make a new genre, which would become a very popular one as well. In The Court of The Crimson King definitely isn't an easy album, so I'll try to give it an another listen one day. The album flows nicely, but you need to pay a lot of attention to what it going on. I didn't really engage with the experience until the 5th and last track, which was definetely the highlight of the album for me. After all, I couldn't imagine myself as a prog rock fan, but at least I learned something about the history of music. You can just hear the inventiveness oozing out from the record.

While I get why some might like this record, it requires more from me than what it could ever give. The album is not bad by any means and it definetely manages to give me a very dreamlike feeling, but personally, I wouldn't listen to this piece: to me it's like background noise (NOT in an inherently negative way!) The whole time I was listening to the album I just couldn't stop waiting for something to happen (something that never did). It was very challenging to try to listen to such long tracks with minimal progression while staying engaged. I can't think of a single other reason to why the songs have to be so long, with so little substance other than the album being meant to be used as sleep aid.

Blunderbuss by Jack White

This album didn't have a single boring or sad song in it. This isn't exactly my type of music, but I wouldn't mind listening to this record again

Antichrist Superstar by Marilyn Manson

I could very well listen to industrial music, but this album just doesn't sound good. Tbh a lot of the lyrical content on this piece is corny at best. I decided to save my time & only listen to some snippets from each track, and I don't regret that decision. This isn't for me. Knowing all the shit he has done I have no desire to explore his artistic ventures any further: it didn't even take a whole minute for him to start talking about rape, so it definitely has to be a passion of his. If I want to listen to music like this I'll pick someone else.

Entertainment by Gang Of Four

A nice album, to me all of the songs sound very similar. Nothing to complain about

Very by Pet Shop Boys

A nice record, Yesterday When I Was Mad and Go West kind of sounded like North Korean propaganda band songs :D (not a diss towards either this album or NK bands)

Green Onions by Booker T. & The MG's
Jul 06 2026

This makes for nice background music for chill activities like cooking

Jagged Little Pill by Alanis Morissette
Jul 08 2026

An absolute classic which I finally got to listen

Hejira by Joni Mitchell

Offers nothing to me personally

Jul 13 2026

This just doesn't satisfy me. It's good as background music, but I can't understand how this is supposedly one of the greatest albums of all time

Kind Of Blue by Miles Davis
Jul 14 2026

I'm not a jazz enthusiast, but it's nice to listen to as background music. I just can't see how this album could be as good as people make it sound

Tragic Songs of Life by The Louvin Brothers
Jul 16 2026

A nice album, country isn't my genre but this is nice

Jul 23 2026

Halfway through I thought this will be an album which won't really open up to you before subsequent listenings, but I was definetely wrong, I enjoyed this

Heaven Or Las Vegas by Cocteau Twins
Aug 11 2026

I will be returning to this album & Cocteau Twins. Didn't really pay attention to the lyrics but it didn't feel like I even had to. I love chill music like this which you can play & just lounge around or do whatever chill activity you wish. Elizabeth Fraser's vocals are heavenly!

Melody A.M. by Röyksopp

All of us who like electronic music are very lucky, this album is a masterpiece. Perfect album for studying, working or just chilling

Walking Wounded by Everything But The Girl
Aug 14 2026

My first 5-star album. Banger after banger. Fits nearly any mood. Walking Wounded is melancholic in a romanticizeable way, but can also be partied to. I love this so much

Pearl by Janis Joplin

Not really my style

Trio by Dolly Parton
Aug 27 2026

I got this album the day after the world lost an angel. I never listened to Dolly's music not too much, but I have admired her as a philanthropist. I really hope she knew how important she was to so so many people, and that people will remember her not just for her career but also for being one of the most pure hearted people out there. Trio is a beautiful piece of art. The three women's voices blend together to sound even more ethereal than what they alone could, while retaining their distinction. I really enjoy this genre of music. Rest in piece ❤️‍🩹
