1001 Albums Summary

Solid album, nothing outstanding that I see myself coming back to. Some really nice guitar work from May though, I particularly liked what he did on the first track and could see myself coming back to that to try to learn that sound/style.

It's Bob Dylan, and he can't be anything other than Bob Dylan. Also, there's a fucking slide whistle on the title track, and I think we should just generally take him less seriously.

Talking Heads is a band that I should love and that I sometimes do. When it hits, it hits... when it doesn't, it feels... campy?

I think you probably had to be there (the UK in the 90's).

Incredible stuff. A blend of nearly every major musical style of the time, perfect harmonies, perfect structures, perfect sound. An absolute all time classic.

A good time, but not necessarily for a long time. The album (and some songs) are a bit bloated and repetitive and the sound is very of its time. It's fun, it's dancy, it's enjoyable. I am glad to have heard it, but I don't think I'll find myself coming back to it.

Do you like the same 3 chords repeated ad nauseam? Do you like to hear the same howled vocals over everything? You're gonna love the work of AC/DC.

A classic for a reason, even if there are a few moments (not uncommon in 80's/90's rap) where the rhymes/subjects sound dated. An excellent fusion of jazz and hip hop that still sounds fresh and timeless all at once.
