Nevermind by Nirvana
Aug 24 2026

As a starter on this journey, this was an epic way to start. What a trip down memory lane. This first came out when I was in high school, so those memories were the first to come flooding back. Some good, some bad, but all raw and sometimes too emotional to revisit. This album is indeed a reflection of that as well. When younger, you probably will not digest the music the same as you will when you revisit it as an adult. I know I certainly didn’t listen to this album in the same light as now. I remember being “edgy” for liking and enjoying this in high school. How my parents hated the volume I listened to this. And upon relistening, I get why they would dislike the grungy screaming at times, where I just saw it as comfort on days when rage or desperation were at the forefront. It deserved a full relisten from start to finish to understand why it’s still a necessary listen overall. The music is indeed a mix of punk rock and grunge. Never perfectly clean throughout, yet clean enough to listen on repeat at times when you feel it most. It’s more obvious as an adult that this was the work of a tormented soul. Hinting at mental disorders and institutions, its sad but still beautiful. There’s pain, innocence destroyed, tragedy and dark moments throughout while still throwing contempt at the average follower at times which makes it so real. Heck of a way to begin the journey through the list, looking forward to the next.

Led Zeppelin III by Led Zeppelin

As a fan of Led Zepplin, I will honestly say this is not one of my favorites of theirs. Other than perhaps the Immigrant Song to me, I could pass over this album any day in favor of others. But I appreciate the relisten for this list.
