The Beau Brummelsstandard 60's white-guy rock not terrible, but not good either 2/5 unless it improves in songs 7-11 It didn't.

first listen, nothing reached out and grabbed me -- TOO loud. Maybe next time. 2-3/5 (there were some pretty good rhythms that I heard, so I'll have to try it again. 3 for now)
old white guy music
lotsa train songs, then lotsa mournful songs It was all right.
pretty good instrumentals; a few really good songs, some not so good 3-4/5
first listen, nothing reached out and grabbed me -- TOO loud. Maybe next time. 2-3/5 (there were some pretty good rhythms that I heard, so I'll have to try it again. 3 for now)
interesting combo of James Bond movie theme sound and dance pop and 70's soul. Didn't really catch my ear, but sounds innovative. 3/5
kind of Funk-Lite. okay, just nothing that really grabs me. 3/5
boring, too quiet, old white guy music either 1 or 2/5
I wish I liked him better. He's quite the poet, and some of the songs are kind of blues-y and have decent rhythms, but his voice just fucking annoys me, and his phrasing too. This is a 2/5 or maybe 1/5 for me. Let's say 2, cause his older stuff is worse.
It's actually all right for something from the 60's. Might grow on me. I guess this is considered a "garage band" and I can hear sort of pre-punk-type sounds in this music. Some of the songs suck, but some are all right. 3/5.
several songs that I like pretty well, or rather, they're catchy and memorable. always figured I wasn't really a Beatles guy, but maybe this album is better than I gave it credit for? I guess it's still just a 3/5 for me.
never ever heard of this -- no ideas about it... not doing anything special for me; blues-inspired stuff that is sort of jam-band-y probably 2/5 unless it gets better in songs 4-10. it didn't. sort of quiet white-guy bluesy jam band stuff. Forgettable.
several familiar songs; not sure how much I actually like them vs. know the tunes. Nope. don't like them all that much. Familiar bits of tunes, but even those songs don't do that much for me. 2/5
I like the sound; 3 really good songs in the first 9. At least a 3, maybe a 4/5. I think it's only a 3. Nothing else that got me excited other than those 3 songs.
can't play a lot on Spotify or YouTube; trying someone's YouTube bootleg.... can't understand the words of what it can play this is PUUUUNK city has that thing where the singer goes too fast for the drums/base or vice versa not that tight, musically speaking; hard to understand; what I can hear on Spotify has better sound quality than the bootleg; this might grow on me, b/c the simple chords are a little catchy. 3/5.
I've always liked her since first hearing her; let's see how this album resonates with me; might just be a 3, with a couple of extra-good songs -- not sure that the overall will be enough to get to 4. She's a good singer and has killer emotion, but the tunes and rhythms in the first 4 songs don't do much for me. Overall, a lot of her stuff doesn't do much for me, but the songs that do resonate, hit like a ton of bricks. 3/5.
not sure how to classify him... r&b? Rock? Soul (is that its own thing?) it's all right -- got a little rhythm to it I'll call it R&B -- I guess it's the ORIGINAL Rock!! 3/5, although it might grow on me and get a better score later...
I think Green Day has been growing on me over the years. This has at least 2 songs that I like, so I'm sure it's a 3. Does it have enough to be a 4??? Nope. Okay overall, but nothing that grabs me enough to take it to the next level.
Hmmm, some of these are catchy.... Probably a 3.
I remember Coralette loving this group, and hearing that they were super loud and good (like The Faint at that concert at Jannus that one time), but the other album didn't knock me out. Might need to listen louder.... First song -- I keep waiting/thinking there's gonna be a loud climax, but 2/3 of the way through it sounds like it'll just finish as a mid-tempo love song. Yup. It did. So, maybe LCDS is like Modest Mouse -- mostly mid-tempo, atmospheric stuff, with a few rockers or catchy songs thrown in. Solid 3 so far after 3/10 songs. Ended up the same.
First few minutes ain't doing much for me. Probably only 2/5 unless it gets better. They're like "Beatles Lite" meh. sort of amazing that they're a 90's act; they barely sound it. Doesn't do much for me.
I'm bettin' this is gonna be more Blah Old White Guy Music. Folk is really not my bag. At Song #2/10, I'm thinking this might be a 1/5. WAAAAAAAY too fringe-jacket-and-round-sunglasses-playing-guitar-on-the-lawn for me! Ick. Triple ick. So much hippie-ness. I'm feeling bad that I want to give it a 1, but really, a 2 would be charity. Not my bag.
When I think of Funkadelic, I guess I'm thinking of Parliament. The first 2 songs aren't all that funky. It was all right. Didn't have any songs that grabbed me. I learned that the same musicians released funky albums as Parliament, and rock-y albums at Funkadelic. This was all right -- I give it a 3.
Doesn't do much for me, but it's not bad, per se. Let's see how it plays out. It's okay.
Annoying voices, annoyingly simple rhyming lyrics; sort of Beatles-lite without the witty arrangements/lyrics. Sound is rock-y enough for a 3, but they get a 2 b/c of the whiny/droning singer(s).
Wasn't gonna listen, but it starts with Cinnamon Girl, and it's only 7 songs, so maybe I can try it. I suspect it will be lucky to get a 3, but you never know.... Naah, it's a 2. Quality is fine, but it's just too quiet and mournful for my taste. I think I like Young better than the rest of CSN, but still not really my thing. I can hear the beginnings of grunge in the sound, but still just too slow/contemplative.
This is pretty chill/quiet heart stuff; it's no Cowboy Junkies though! !-D If it doesn't pick up a bit after song 4, probably only a 2. If there are some awesome songs, maybe a 3. I'd give it a 2.5, but not a 3. Might grow on me if I listened to it in the background a bunch, but not that compelling on first listen.
They're actually a pretty good pop/rock group. Kinda wrote them off for being a "Girl Group" b/c they were so packaged back when I first heard them in middle school. Certainly a solid 3.
Really better than I was expecting! Very melodic for Punk. I like it so far. Easily a 3, maybe a 4??? We'll see what songs 7-12 sound like. Yeah, it would probably be a 3.5, but I'll grant it a 4.
It's all right -- catchy, good sound and rhythms. Can't say I really relate to the lyrics. Probably a 3; we'll see if there are more songs that jump out at me besides "Around The Way Girl" and "Mama Said..." It was pretty good. 3 is fine.
Pretty good -- would be a 3.5. I'll think about whether a 3 or 4. My gut said 4 so I'll go with that.
I'm guessing it'll be a 2, but we'll see if it picks up. I think this is the twangy 80's radio Country that I used to didn't like. Since I've grown fond of some Johnny Cash, maybe I'll have a softer spot for it than I expect.
Pretty quiet, but enough interesting rhythms to make it okay. Also, a couple of familiar/pleasant songs. 3/5.
These guys are kind of over the top! Some SERIOUS keys and base going on. 2.5 really good songs out of 7, so I'mma call it a 4.
really like the sound, but the songs themselves aren't really doing much for me. Might be better after more listens, but for now, just a 3/5. Excited to have something on this list that isn't boring crap from the 60's, though!
really cool, atmospheric experience. a solid 4/5
Their sound is okay, just a little quiet for my taste. They could be pretty funky if they tried, but they're pretty chill instead, with some base guitar. Probably a 2/5 unless songs 6-12 get better.
first song sounds terrible -- very 60's/hippie/blecchh I think they have a couple of pop-y tunes, so maybe they can get a 2. I'll be shocked if they earn a 3, and not surprised if it's only a 1.
kind of quiet, atmospheric electronica so-so probably improves with more listens didn't like the singer so much, but the sound is ok 3/5
This is likely a 4, but let's listen to the whole thing. I generally like the sound... Lots of familiar songs, but not ones that I love -- it is soul-searching, and that kind of overshadows the good funky sound that I like. It would really be like a 3.5, so I'll go ahead with 4/5.
Wasn't quite sure at first listen, but it grew on me throughout the album. She's quite the storyteller, and the vibe is kind of cool and chill. Listened during a nap, and it was nice! 3/5.
I like the sound of this. It's a little quieter than I normally like, so maybe it's the Aussie accents? Who knows, but I think it'll get a 4.
I think of Ben Folds without the interesting rhythms and lyrics. Pretty okay singer-songwriter, and not TOO quiet, but will take a few listens to grow on me. Was gonna say 2, but as I have listened a couple of times today on accident, it is growing on me. I think I'm giving it a 3 for potential.
old white guy music, alternative version, I guess. 2 songs in, and i'm not impressed. We're working in the 2 range, give or take. Let's see.... GAWD, the MUSIC just isn't any good. Maybe the words are witty or progressive or whatever, but the sound is crap. 1/5.
all right; kind of medium New Wave sound. probably a 3. Pretty decent! Quite a few covers, but I like their versions!
Okay Ska-ish. They're 2nd wave (I think; this album 1980), so not quite as good as first-wave stuff, IMHO. Still, I like the sound generally, so 3/5.
IT was just ok. some notable songs, but 3/5.
standard 60's white-guy rock not terrible, but not good either 2/5 unless it improves in songs 7-11 It didn't.
This is at least a 4, maybe my first 5!? Several songs I really like. I'll listen closely to the rest.
it's the Beach Boys: proto-pop some pretty good songs, and the others aren't totally lame -- I call that a win for 60's white-guy music! 3/5
Kinda neutral. Definitely okay, but the only song that grabbed me enough to distract from work was "Fever" 3/5
Don't know anything about this, so I'm guessing something kinda electronica-y. Nope! Actually regular 2000's Rock. Pretty decent sound. No songs grabbed me yet. Actually kind of dull. Emotional Rock with no particular sound that stands out. Probably a 3, maybe a 2. Forgettable.
Good sound, and a few kickass songs!
Don't think I've ever heard of these guys, but first song is recognizable and I like it, so this could be fun! It was okay, but nothing special. 3/5.
I like this sound. Probably a 4. Let's see about individual songs.... There are 4 of 11 that I really like, as well as sections of others! This pushes it near-or-into 5 territory. I think it's just a 4 though. Would probably be an 8-9/10
He's terrible, but his sound is really interesting and innovative. Probably at least a 3; let's see exactly how many songs are good. After listening to the whole thing for the first time, it's only a 3. He IS really unique and innovative to my ear, but his lyrics are just too much, and I really didnt' get into very many of the songs.
Never heard of this even once. Sounds like pretty hardcore alternative. I hear bits of grunge in the first song.... let's see what it develops into. VERY hardcore grunge/alternative; sounds like sometimes Nirvana, without as much melody or catchiness. 3/5
Halfway through, and it's okay. Sort of alternative sound; nothing has really grabbed me yet. Probably 3/5. We'll see how songs 8-12 sound... nothing that special, or that bad
First song is classic, but the rest aren't really my cup of tea. Probably just a 2/5.
It was okay, but didn't really grab me. 2/5
Meh. Super singer-songwriter-y. Probably good to those who like that, but it just sounds like too much feels. Not for me.
Meh. He's got a lovely voice, and writes heartfelt lyrics, but the sound is just boring to me!
Kind of forgettable background easy alt-rock. The sort that will probably get better on subsequent listens, but nothing special at first.
Solid old-school soul. A classic, and one that I also like. 4/5.
