Birth Of The Cool

Blue is one of my favorite albums ever. In comparison, this one is just so... jaunty? I like it, and this is a good reminder to put it back into rotation as background music while I'm doing other things, but so far I really can't imagine sitting down for an hour and focusing all of my attention on it.
Musically and sonically it's great, and I do like its party energy, but his vocals are just so... affected? Hokey? It sounds like a parody. I'll admit that I caught myself humming along more than once, and if one of the songs came on in a bar I'm sure I'd be happy to listen to it. But when I got to the end I was just relieved that it was over.
I like it! I don't have many reference points for hip hop, so I don't really know how to put it in any context, but I'd definitely put it on again.
A quiet-ish listen while working earned them a full-volume listen while on the trainer, but for whatever reason it just didn't land. Feels like a "you had to be there" sort of album. *shrug*
Every time it ended I hit play again, and I just kept turning up the volume. (:
Enjoyed it, glad I've heard it, didn't feel inspired to listen a second time.
Makes me want to find a dive bar with a jukebox.
Is this song really "we're s-h-o-p-p-i-n-g, we're shopping"? Because it's adorable. Not my new favorite band or anything, but it's fun.
It took about half of the album for my brain to say "oh, this is campy, and that's why I want to listen to it," and from that point on I really enjoyed it.
I think I liked it, but mostly I feel like I don't know how to listen to or appreciate disco.
So in love. I grew up with all of these musicians and at least some of the songs, so they already had a special place in my heart.
Deserves another listen.
This one was already special to me. It's been on my list to watch the movie again, listening to the album only made me more excited about that. (:
Such an amazing guitar! Definitely deserves another listen.
Sure!

I expected to like this one a lot more than I did. Could have been my mood on that particular day or could be some missing magic in the album.
Yup.
Totally into it, at least through the first half. By the third half of the album I was ready to be done. (Accidentally rolled straight into the first half of the following album. Oops.)
Extra points for radically exceeding my expectations for a 1969 album with such a dopey name.
Lost me at Amazing Grace.
I was really surprised that I didn't enjoy this album at all. Maybe I was just in the wrong mood for it that day? *shrug*
Listened at low volume, but enjoyed. Worth another listen at higher volume, I think.
Kinda neutral about this one?
Wow.
