Great start to finish, clearly a heavy influence on their New York brethren, the Talking Heads.
Good live jazz record but nothing mind blowing
I've never been a big fan of the 90s British alt rock and I went into this album with low expectations. The first three songs were essentially what I expected but Late in the Day grabbed my attention. By the time Sun Hits the Sky ended I started to become a fan. I could imagine a live performance of Sun Hits the Sky being jammed out and I found myself wishing the end of the song continued on longer. For me that is when the album hit its stride.
One great song and a bunch of decent songs after. Courtney definitely led with the heater
Not usually my preferred style of music but I appreciated a lot of this album, catchy riffs and lyrics, high energy. I liked Beverly Hills and World Up My Ass and a few other songs but probably won’t be revisiting this one much. The drumming on Paid Vacation is cool too.
Very good early 70s funk album dripping with late 60s influence. My favorite track by far is the closer - Thank You For Talkin’ to Me, Africa. Such a fucking groove on that one!
This album is far better than I gave it credit for when I was a teenager in the 90s! Some really great songs on here, and an important foundation for the sounds to come after.
This album has that classic Beach Boys sound with great harmonies but it doesn’t quite do it for me. It sounds trapped in the mid 60s, right before The Beach Boys got cool and made Pet Sounds. I won’t be revisiting this one.
First half of the record didn’t grab me but side 2 is straight fire. Really dug it
Solid late 90s UK house. Not really a genre I listen to often but would throw it on again late night.
Some of the absolute best hip hop tracks ever made on this classic.
Some interesting stuff here and there but probably not worth a relisten for me.
Great classic rock album that deserves a 4 star rating although it won’t get a lot of replay because I’ve heard it all a thousand times
Not my favorite Bowie record but very good
Great album even though every song sounds more or less the same. Gonna go with a 3 for that reason
Had never heard of John before and really liked this one, will be revisiting!
