As iconic as it's front cover is, Aladdin Sane fails to reach the lofty heights of it's predecessor in continuing Ziggy Stardust, but as a stand alone album the only true misstep is in Bowie's Rolling Stones cover. A gracious and bolstering farewell to The Spiders from Mars.

An era perhaps best short lived given how Bowie was living at the time, but the grandeur of Station to Station is a masterstroke of The Thin White Duke which eventually led to The Berlin Trilogy. It's title track is one of the most powerful album openers in music and from there it's quality never falters. Few artist can claim multiple masterpieces, but this is definitely one of Bowie's.

A stunning, almost ethereal masterpiece. Mitchell bares every piece of her soul on Blue and it's lost none of its power 50 years after release.
