1001 Albums Summary

In my personal collection on vinyl. Already one of my favorites. Under Pressure is a stand by classic by the band as is Disappearing later on the album. Red Eyes is another strong song early on this album. The melodic sounds are unique but do remind of certain feelings of the band The Cure as in the Mixed Up album variety. The use of a drum machine is a constant but it won’t get you out on the dance floor. When this album slows down, it really sleepwalks at a snail’s pace. Does he sing like Bob Dylan a little? I never bought a second album from this band but I never regretted buying this album and go back to it frequently. I think anyone would appreciate the unquestionably unique sound they’ve created here.

Rage has always been a band who’s songs where incredibly power but I could only enjoy in small doses. I was a little late to the game with them. I do own this album and like most albums they put out there’s always 3-4 great songs while the rest are mediocre but consistent. Here Killing In Name Of and Wake Up are perfect examples of that. Mixing in their music in a long playlist is never a bad idea, putting on the whole album through may be a bit taxing to most enthusiasts. I’m rating the entire album here, even though some songs are big standouts.

I never heard of this band. Lyrics are not English. The song arrangements are catchy and bluesy. I have a hard time getting past the singer and the language barrier. I do like the guitar work though. Kinda fun I guess.

I do not own this album but I’ve heard it many times over. I was influenced greatly by the new grunge sounds of the early 90s. This album was a little shocking, due to the song choice and what their normal sound was. It preceded Kurt Cobian’s death by a short time. I’d rather remember Nirvana for the plugged in sound.

Would never buy an Abba album even if Bono covered them with U2. I know Dancing Queen, it’s the disco era. Another new sound for the times. Knowing Me Knowing you rings a bell. Fernando was another song on the radio. All in all this duel vocal approach by these two powerful woman is the strength of the approach, unfortunately I could never buy this or add any of it to a playlist.

Excellent arrangement. A classic. Even white boys got to shout.

The 2001 return to form U2. After focusing on Pop in Europe, the band does the Beautiful Day album.

Sir Duke and I Wish lead the way. A little too many ups and downs but a very diverse and powerful set of music by a legend.

1982 heavy metal

I have never heard anything by King Crimson. I’ve always heard the 1969 debut was excellent. I’ll be checking out more of the catalog after hearing this.

Ground breaking release spurring on the women’s movement but I’m not a cat person. I’m a male and a dog lover!

No question

This post grunge album from 2000 really works for little PJ. Great guitar strumming with an edge that keeps these lyrics flowing. The Radiohead influence takes it up a notch. Listen to this one all the way though the first time.
