Black Monk Time by The Monks

Man, what an album. It's like the animals found a time machine and grew up listening to the white stripes! It's proto everything! Edgy and punky but still loose and fun. So hard without taking itself too seriously. Dope shit.

The United States Of America by The United States Of America

Simply could not grab me on this particular day. I saw potential but it never latched

White Blood Cells by The White Stripes
Sep 26 2024

I cant explain it but this is a country album? 10/10 attitude. Stripped down, simple, rock. Pure.

Different Class by Pulp
Sep 27 2024

This album is chock full of tracks that bear striking resemblances to massive pop hits that came out in the next 20 years after it's release. It's clear the sounds here we're hugely influential. Some of the riffs sound as if they're going to be a cover of some song or other that I hear on the radio, but they always take a slightly different direction. And the album is great, but it's just soooo close to being incredible. If only they had stumbled into the slightly different versions of some of these licks that went on to become superhits

Boston by Boston
Sep 30 2024

Iron clad proof that I can appreciate the hell out of something without really liking it. Must have been a wild rode when this came out. All incredible songs and back to back to back is wild. Must have changed the game when it came out. BUT! not really my vibe. Just can't get down in a satisfying way to this stuff. Too soft.

Doggystyle by Snoop Dogg
Oct 01 2024

I am blown away by how much I liked this. Super vibey. The lyrics are pretty shot at some points but its good. Definitely over stays its welcome though.

Live And Dangerous by Thin Lizzy
Oct 02 2024

I like thin lizzy but I was VERY bored. Not a fan sadly. Never have liked a live album tbh.

Celebrity Skin by Hole
Oct 03 2024

Decent! It's got a lot of elements of other stuff that I like, but kinda the worst of all of them? But of nirvana, bit of smashing pumpkins, bit of weatus and Alanis. Altogether is just aggressively 90s and most songs are fine but just missing a hook

Black Monk Time by The Monks
Oct 04 2024

Man, what an album. It's like the animals found a time machine and grew up listening to the white stripes! It's proto everything! Edgy and punky but still loose and fun. So hard without taking itself too seriously. Dope shit.

Stankonia by OutKast
Oct 07 2024

Hell yeah! Doom and killer Mike both showing up was dope. Good ass album.

Oct 09 2024

Really enjoying their ability to be upbeat and occasionally even happy tonally while still maintaining the heaviness. Some blues stuff in there? Way cooler than I was expecting.

I need to relisten with more intent. I really enjoyed the second half with the band but I'm afraid I didn't give the lyrics the due that they deserve in the guitar half. And this album is all about lyrics, clearly. I enjoyed it but I think.i could have loved it.

The Dreaming by Kate Bush
Oct 11 2024

Having only heard running up that hill, I was absolutely not ready for this level if experimental music! I was absolutely fascinated for the duration, despite not enjoying it that much. This demands multiple listens to appreciate properly, but having only listened once, I can't give it a high score. I think i would like it more down the line. This is a perfect "album you should listen to before you die" because its just experimental enough to expose you to something new without being too challenging

OK Computer by Radiohead
Oct 14 2024

First one I've heard before! What a masterpiece. That being said, it maybe didn't hit as hard as it did when I was a teenager! My taste has gotten less angst in lyrics and more angst in sound so the chill vibes left.me wanting more!

Back At The Chicken Shack by Jimmy Smith
Oct 15 2024

Perfect background music for earl6.morning costa rica. 10/10 for the memories, not sure of its something I'd appreciate as much with active listening.

Scream, Dracula, Scream by Rocket From The Crypt
Oct 16 2024

Really great punky shut. Nothing spectacular but will get more play by me than some technically more impressive music

Elephant by The White Stripes
Oct 17 2024

This album slaps. Just like white blood cells but with more attitude more fun and more angst. Buncha metal buncha blues buncha grunge buncha buncha

Odessey And Oracle by The Zombies
Oct 18 2024

I cannot believe that I have never heard of the Zombies before. This album is fucking amazing. Rose for emily, being the theme of S town, was familiar, but nothing else until tike of the season which sounds like a different band and really surprised me. Huge.huge fan.

Siamese Dream by The Smashing Pumpkins
Oct 21 2024

Some incredible hits here but smashing punkin sound wears out it's welcome over the course of an album

Aladdin Sane by David Bowie
Oct 22 2024

I wish I liked it better, it's obviously good music but failed to grab me sadly. Had some great piano bits.

Murder Ballads by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
Oct 23 2024

This is really fun, not sure if it belongs on this list for anyone but me but I'm glad I listened.

Oct 28 2024

The fact that this album started a political revolution and got hia.mother murdered is wild. Good stuff though!

Blood Sugar Sex Magik by Red Hot Chili Peppers
Oct 29 2024

This is a really Good album even if the Chilli pepper sound has been run into the ground

Walking Wounded by Everything But The Girl
Oct 30 2024

If I heard this before the advent of lo-fi glitch hop 24 hr streams I think it would have been a truly unique experience but unfortunately this has become a very played out sound.

Paranoid by Black Sabbath
Oct 31 2024

Unbelievably good. Never expected tbh.

Tidal by Fiona Apple
Nov 01 2024

Really great and a 90s vibe that is hard to describe. Did get a little stale by the end.

Pacific Ocean Blue by Dennis Wilson
Nov 07 2024

Started slow and then got great and then got boring again. However, the original.track list ends right where I started to lose interest!

Nov 28 2024

I used to own this album and have listened to it a lot without even rel getting it, just for the asthetic lmao. But this was a challenge to come back to. Some how though, after pigs I suddenly loosened up and ended up liking ot more than ever did before.
