I enjoyed hearing some of the songs that I never heard before.
Eh, just wasn't that into it.
Loved it. Awkwardly danced around the office whilst listening. Glad I work alone.
Listening to this brought me back to the '80's when I frequently saw ska bands at Bunratty's. I enjoyed the album, very fun, but it got a tad repetetive.
I felt a bit lukewarm about this, I think because so many songs were overplayed on the radio.
First, if you haven't seen the video to Girl, you have to check it out. Think Mad Magazine fold-in. I admit I never really "got" Beck and his oddball (to me) lyrics. For me, lyrics might be the most important part of the song. I did like this album but it didn't change my life or anything and I prefer Mixed Bizness if I had to pick a Beck album.
I don't know if I was in a bad mood or what, but I just found this album to be very boring.
Well that was weird. Just wasn't for me.
Loved it from start to finish.
Enjoyed quite a bit
Liked it more than expected
No thanks
I've never been a fan of this type of music. Never listened to this group, except what I was subjected to it. Yada yada yada the guitar playing is incredible but the whole package just wasn't my thing. So I was surprised to discover I enjoyed this! What struck me was the innocence! I know that sounds odd but the way the subject matter was addressed seemed pretty tame compared to now. I expected it to be more hedonistic, I guess. I could be completely off base, but that was my first impression.
I still love it. Particularly like Boulevard and Wake Me Up, they always give me that sort of introspective, bittersweet feeling where you think about how time is passing so quickly and you dwell on mistakes you have made.
Did not expect to like this, since I have never liked jazz (though I always thought that maybe I didn't like it because I wasn't exposed to the right kind). Anyhow, I liked this! Reminded me a bit of cumbia, which I enjoy listening to on occasion. I particularly liked Congo Mulence and Tin Tin Deo.
Loved it. Her voice is soothing like maple syrup.
Loved Fu-Gee-La, The Score, and Ready or Not.
No no no. I tried, I really did. Listened to 4 songs, couldn't take it. They all sounded like the first one to me (ROOTS! BLOODY ROOTS! ROOTS! BLOODY ROOTS!) Ugh. Now, I like some good screaming and anger in music. My problem with this album(thesongs I listened to) was that it was ALL screaming and anger. When it is all the sane "level", it has no impact and is boring, IMO.
Would've been 5 stars but Billy Corgan's whiny voice gets on my nerves.
Nice palette cleanser from Megadeth.
Meh. I enjoyed the Tornadoes song but the rest of it seemed sort of juvenile to me.
I just can't.
I find it hard to get into this genre, probably because I never got much exposure to it. That being said, I liked this and in particular, the song "Good Kid".
I was surprised that I loved this! "Lazy" was a stand out for me.
I kinda liked this. It reminded me of that point in a space movie where the hero goes outside the space ship to repair it so the rest of the crew can get back home, even though he knows he can't get back in and will just float around until he dies. It felt lonely.
For me, the deeper cuts on this album didn't sonically cover any new ground from the singles off of it. It was a little ho hum for me.
What an interesting album, loved it. It was, I dunno, grandiose. But in a good way. The Side White and Side Black was intriguing. The way the band members switch around roles, wow.
Loved it. Weird that they were already broken up when it was released. I love the oddly happy sound of Cell 44 as opposed to the subject matter. Weirdly, Time of the Season always had an ominous vibe to me. I read that this album is a favorite of Paul Weller, I can understand why.
Phenomenal. Favorites are Kooks and Queen Bitch.
