At Fillmore East
The Allman Brothers Band2/5 Not bad, but this just sounds like music of a bygone era. I bet all the musicians were massive smokers and drinkers. I wonder what they were like as people and what type of jokes they made.

4/5 Effortlessly cool. Timeless album. Certain peculiarities about the album can either rub people the wrong way or be charming and hypnotic. Simple, yet piercing. However there are times where it gets a bit much
Never been a fan of the stones. Besides sympathy for the devil and a few moments here and there this album is grating more than enjoyable. Find Jagger's talk-singing, ballady style annoying. wtf is jigsaw puzzle.
2 songs in - strong starter followed by a banger. Fun, carefree album, blending genres, infectiously catchy, clean production,
What a bold album to release as your debut. Feels very ahead of its time for an album released in 1969. Cracker of an opening song. Talk to the wind - nice. The meandering components of songs like moonchild where there's extended periods of meaningless noodling gets very tiresome - like I get this is a prog album but seriously... It's memerorable only in it's ability to create irriration in the listener. Besides that lull in the middle, a strong album. 4/5. The court of the crimson king is such a breath of fresh air after the snoozefest of moonchild.
3/5 An interesting listen. Production is well executed. Overall the album is well-executed. Culturally significant - you can see the impact this had on middle america and scruffy white dudes all over. Imbodiment of fuck you and finding success against the corporate influences in music of the time. Can see the dynamic of the voilent/outraguous/controversial artist mirrored in artists like Tyler the Creator. Singles are plain fun to listen to. But it's not to my taste - I find a lot of it cringe, similar I imagine to how people hate seinfeld due to its influence on subsequent sitcoms - hence the rating.
4.5/5 Wow, I thought I hated Bob Dylan. Went into this album expecting to be put off by his vocals and political commentary, but ended up liking a lot of the songs. Very powerful and oftentimes timeless lyrics. Mixture of jaded and spiteful lyrics with lighthearted ones keeps this album from being too heavy.
I could see this one growing more on me, it takes a while to get familiar/comfortable with Nice Caves singing. I’ll give this a generous 3/5 since I wasn’t feeling it for most of the album, but it rounded out towards the end for me
What an album cover. Despite its 36 minute run time this album still feels like a slog. There seems to be no cohesion with the track sequencing. Love hurts is the obvious standout track but even this only feels suited to be included in some movie or tv shows soundtrack and not much else. There are some catchy moments but the songwriting is basic and mostly doesn't seem to be saying all that much.
2.5/5 It’s an album with lots of attitude and an engaging atmosphere. The production is slick but there are too many songs don’t go anywhere, resulting in an album that is bloated and repetitive at times.
First Jazz album so far. Move gets you moving. I like Miles Davis but after a strong start, this album felt too loose in a bad way, and overall besides a few stretches, wasn't very impactful and drifted to the background. The overall mood is quite dour and not very exiting to listen to. I could see this one getting better on repeat listens. 3.5/5
Undoubtedly a talented singer but this can come to the detriment of the songs. The Roof is decent but there aren't any other standout tracks for me. Not bad but not good. Kind of just blends into the background.
4.5/5 Diggin the instrumentals, vocals took a minute to get used to but the repetition in the background is hypnotic. Cafe lounge music with some tracks that offer something different to keep the album fresh and exciting.
Relistened to this on seperate days. Improves on subsequent listen. Really glad I gave it another shot. Intruder - 4/5 Ditto No Self Control - 4/5 I Don't Remember - 4/5 Family Snapshot - 2/5 And Through the Wire - 3/5 Games Without Frontiers - 4/5 Not one of us - 3/5 Biko - 4/5
I did not like this album. Singing was very irritating and difficult to listen past
I've liked Bundles by Soft Machine on Spotify but I'm not too familiar with that album or Soft Machine's catalogue. I wasn't really in the mood for prog today. Was listening to this in the background but found it to be a slog to get through. Vocals were abismal and lacking charm in Moon in June. Probably an unfair rating but on this day I have to give it 1/5
Lost my write up. Keen to listen to this one again. fun singles. 4.5/5
Hyper sugar pop. Juicy hooks.
Not bad per se, but there aren't many standout tracks/moments. Just kept wanting him to sing his pixar songs.
Every song so far has been annoying. Did not enjoy this album 1/5
You are the sunshine & Superstition - 2 Absolute heavy hitters 3.5/5
This album wasn't new to me. While there are some good tracks on here, the soundscape definitely gets a bit much, leading to listener fatigue, and possible headaches. Catchy pop melodies underlay a carpet of fuzz that tends to overwhelm most tracks.
Offensively boring.
What a disgusting album cover - That alone would have meant I'd never of listened to this album otherwise. Not a fan of this glam rock trash. Album is carried by 3 songs: Jump, Panama, and Hot for teacher. Jump is too crisp and overplayed. Panama is okay, if a little 'basic'. Hot for teacher - starts strong (Daft Punk link) and has a pulsating rythym but the lyrics are pathetic. The rest is average and forgettable.
Pleasant - 3/5
Good country album with enough edge and flair to differentiate itself from the usual country genre fare. 4.5/5 Giving it a five so I remember to give it another listen
3/5 Okay - Favourite song was Broken Spoke Shuffle
4.5/5 Cracker of an album. A massive departure from their first album, which lacks any hint of what the band would eventually become. Impossible not to be moved by Yorke's lyrics and delivery, especially on tracks High and Dry, and Fake Plastic Trees.
There's something about of The Velvet Underground. The pared back simplicity. The driving momentum. The effortless cool that just oozes out of each track. Imagining someone listening to them for the first time I could see them missing what makes the non-single songs special. But the album is better than the sum of its parts. There is just something about The Velvet Underground. Candy Says - 2/5 What Goes On - 3.5/5 Some Kinda Love - 3/5 Pale Blue Eyes - 5+/5 Jesus - 3/5 Beginning to See the Light - 2.5/5 I'm Set Free - 2.5/5 That's the Story of My Life - 3.5/5 The Murder Mystery - 4/5 After Hours - 5/5
Yeah nah, not for me. I can see what they're going for but I don't understand why this album is on this list?? 1.5/5
Vocallist sounds a bit like a prototypical Alex Turner, and I'm not a fan of his delivery. 3rd track sucks Simon Diamond is annoying. Lyrics are bland and music feels unoriginal. What can I say that's positive about this album...it's only 34minutes and uh...the cover art is nice?
3.5/5 Some fun little ditties on here. I was torn on 3-4 stars but ultimately there's a fair amount of filler/miss tracks for me - a common affliction for double albums. Reading the wiki for this albums prince was planning on releasing this as a triple album(!) until the studio stepped in.
Starts slow but comes around once I want you arrives, and boy that song slaps. From there continues a strong run of songs through to Most Likely... 4.5/5
So much nostalgia is baked into these songs. My dad used to play this album so much when I was a child - so it's very difficult to remove the daggy dad energy from this album. Trying to be as objective as possible, the album comes out of the gate with a string of 3 songs which impose themselves onto the listener. Once Porcelain comes around, you can't help but be transfixed. Whole album is fairly consistent - easy to see how it's influencial and critically acclaimed. Might have rated it higher if not for the overexposure to it in my youth.
Subpar pop music that at least takes some ambitious swings, so not entirely flavourless. Ahhh The Look of Love - that's why these guys are popular I guess? Not my cup of tea.
Some of the instrumental parts were okay and/or interesting for moments, but fuck me this album sucks and the vocalist is annoying
Some high water marks achieved. Enjoyed the unorthodox flow and beats. Between a 3.5-4/5
Boring. Not a fan of the vocal style/delivery. Highlights - Ballad of the ship of state & Oh, California! Very low lights - Midnight Carousel
GIMME THE LOOT!
Simple, elegant, charming 5/5
I think everyone is well aware of Adele. Whilst I’m personally not into the power ballads, she does have a nice voice and lyrics which go beyond the typical themes of most pop songs. The production is clean to a fault, largely resulting in a cold and soulless background. Surprised how many songs on here have been overplayed in the mainstream. Holy shit the start of water under the bridge sounds like corporate ad music - I thought I was getting a Spotify ad! 1.5/5
Holy shit every song sounds the same. The instrumentals are sparse and there’s not enough in Nelson’s lyrics or delivery to keep it interesting. Down yonder is the only song that grabs you. There are a few moments here and there, like Bandera but overall a boring listen.
Not my vibe. bad. Cannot imagine listening and thinking, yes this is good.
Very late 90's vibe. First two songs seem to be their most popular and I don't see anything too special. This is followed up by a bunch of meandering songs which range from unremarkable to bad. Like, good grief what the fuck is "Funky days are back again"??? - I want to rip my ears off.
