PortisheadAlways loved Portishead's sound. Laid back interesting trip hop sound with melancholic lyrics and Beth Gibbons's voice drawing you in. Haven't listened in full in a long time so thanks for the opportunity.

Strong start then tailed off for me. Maybe need more listens
Really enjoyed listening to this album. Several stand out songs which I've heard before and had me singing along (with a clenched power fist!) Love the melodies, passion and, at times, righteous anger that Strummer brings.
An album of two halves (sides) for me. Liked the 70s romp through the first four tracks, but less so the more experimental songs that followed. Will have to listen again another day, give it another go.
Felt quite nostalgic listening to this. But it's not my favourite Blur album. I'm more familiar with Parklife - a continuation of the theme. I prefer the later, more introspective stuff on Out of Time.
An enjoyable listen. Nice way to spend an hour dancing round the kitchen while cleaning.
Heard many of these songs before but it was good to hear the album as a whole. Will listen again to the tracks less familiar to me such as Neon Lights. I grew up with Joy Division and a New Order. A classic and hugely influential.
An enjoyable listen. She has a great voice. Particularly liked the task Before Believing which the album title come from.
Having only heard Coldplay hits before and never a whole album, this started off well but then tailed off for me and became a bit ploddy.
We own this album so it was a very familiar listen. Not a bad song on the whole album. Wrote a song for everyone and Lodi my favourites
I did like the experimental nature but didn't really warm to this. Probably need another few listens to increase my score.
"Make a cup of tea. Put a record on!" What a good idea, especially when the record is as good as this. Chock full of fun short Britpop songs. Favourites include the hits, Line up, Connection and Waking Up. Also 2:1 and All-nighter. Took me back to mid-90s student days which is never a bad thing.
I wanted to like this more but on some tracks (Rollercoaster) the jug effect was just too much. Overall like but could be better.
I used to listen to side A on a loop along with No Surprises so I did waiver between 4 and 5. I think that's probably a comment on me rather than the album. I prefer the instant gratification and familiarity of side A - just perfection. The second half of the album is a more challenging listen for me, but worth it.
Sublime
I enjoyed this album. I'd heard The Bottle before, really evocative of real life for many. Like the slow sound of Back Home and and Bobby Smith before the barn-storming H2Ogate.
Gotta be honest, Sex on Fire gives me the ick. Now I'll add Only 17 to that list! Quite like Use Somebody but otherwise didn't find myself paying much attention. And the vocals started to grate.
Shoegazing, melancholy and melody are 3 things I like. Was already familiar with the hits.
Enjoyed this. Liked the overall sound and especially the tracks with Kim Gordon's vocals.
A fun listen but other than Tiny Dancer and the title track nothing really grabbed my attention
Feel bad to score really as I didn't listen to the whole album. I didn't recall the band name but in listening to the most listened tracks on Spotify I do remember Streets of our Town and liked it more and at the time of release. Based on this being the big hit single and expecting the rest of the album not up to the same standard, it's a 2.5/3 from me
Totally forgot how much I used to like listening to REM in my mid- late teens. Absolutely loved You are the Everything (perfect for teen (and middle aged) angst), Stand and Orange Crush. Might have to dust off my old albums now.
An enjoyable listen.
Sheer class. Opted for the best of version but would definitely dip into the full version at leisure. Amazing how many songs you just know.
Not much to say really. Washed over me.
I was torn between a 4 and a 5 but don't want to incur Mick's wrath! I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would. Prefer original Beatles tracks to the covers but if you place yourself back in the time, it would have been 5 stars without fail. My favourite early Beatles tracks are in a minor key - love A taste of Honey (a cover not on this album) and Don't Bother Me.
A fun listen with bags of hits. All those years listening to and recording the charts paid off and I knew most of the lyrics.
Nice to listen to - interesting and intelligent and thought provoking. I'd like to learn more about the meaning of the lyrics.
Had a little listen. Promise of better things to come. Totally eclipsed by Back to Black.
Always loved Portishead's sound. Laid back interesting trip hop sound with melancholic lyrics and Beth Gibbons's voice drawing you in. Haven't listened in full in a long time so thanks for the opportunity.
This album was like sunshine in your ears from the opening track. Superstition is superb. Also liked Blame it on the sunshine and I believe.
Four stars for Fisherman's Blues alone. Skipped through the rest of the album without listening closely but overall like the feel of it.
I really didn't like this at first. Just heard bad musical theatre but glad I persevered. Enjoyed the slower songs and can see how appreciation would build with each listen.
An astonishing record. Was great to listen again. Had to stop still and pay full attention to Surfs up - beautiful
The songs I was already familiar with were the best. Preferred the second half of the album, built momentum.
A great listen. Was blown away by the power and raw soul of Janis's voice. Such a shame this turned out to be her last album
Not really listened to Iggy Pop before but I already knew Nightclubbing. Enjoyed it. Easy to connect the dots to groups who followed and were clearly influenced by him ie Joy Division, Depeche Mode
Other than the first song, it left me a bit cold. But really into it
Always had a soft spot for Tears for Fears. It brightened up my day listening and I couldn't resist singing along to Everybody wants to rule the world, Shout and Head over Heels.
I listened to the whole album but it definitely started to grate. Just not my thing. I can respect the musicianship, especially on Orion, but the lyrics just leave me cold and it was a struggle to listen to the end.
Not familiar with a lot of these songs. Enjoyable but wanted more Burt Bacharach bangers. I know it sounds shallow but I guess I've been spoilt by the big hits.
Not my genre but this project throws up some surprises. Was much kinder to my ears than I expected. Not as heavy or shouty as I expected and appreciated the melody. N.I.B favourite track.
Enjoyed this on its release. Cash's voice works really well on this album and I've got several ear worms now!
