Popular Reviews

Calenture by The Triffids

I believe the appropriate response after the first 10 seconds of every song is, “ugh”.

A Wizard, A True Star by Todd Rundgren

Great prog rock is awesome. I’ll usually like mediocre prog rock. Bad prog rock is fucking unbearable. This was somewhere between mediocre and bad.

Disintegration by The Cure
Dec 16 2024

I remembered why I don’t listen to full The Cure Albums. Too much whining more me. Needs mood changes. The radio plays are still good songs.

Channel Orange by Frank Ocean
Dec 17 2024

I figured I’d listen to this when I was in the mood to hear Get Out of My Dreams and Into my Car. Then, I realized it was a different and forgot until the text chain yesterday. I am now listening to Billy Ocean then Gwar cover Billy Ocean to rid of this trash. One positive was Crack Pipe.

3 + 3 by The Isley Brothers
Dec 18 2024

I got sent to a double album that was super long where songs repeated. I realized it when I felt like I was hearing the same instrumentals. Overall, it was alright.

Live And Dangerous by Thin Lizzy
Dec 19 2024

Some good stuff. Great guitars. Long for a live show. Could’ve cut Jimmy the Weed.

New York Dolls by New York Dolls
Dec 20 2024

There are just so many better albums in this genre. Nothing stood out to me, but probably fun live.

Rock 'N Soul by Solomon Burke
Dec 23 2024

I loved the first song and everything upbeat. Surprisingly, the slower songs were my least favorite.

Stankonia by OutKast
Dec 31 2024

I really enjoyed this. I’m only rating the songs and not the skits/dialogue.

The Genius Of Ray Charles by Ray Charles
Jan 01 2025

Closest I came to giving a 5. Really good but the slow ones were a little short of 5 territory for me.

Eagles by Eagles
Jan 02 2025
Jan 03 2025

Might have been good if I lived in a small town and never heard rebellious music before. Jacob Dylan is the superior songwriter.

Jan 06 2025

I loved it. It took chances on a bunch of different songs. Everything followed a theme but didn’t seem like the same 1 or 2 songs. Also, I forgot how much I love ‘39. Great album!

My Generation by The Who
Jan 07 2025

This is one of my least favorite The Who albums. I think it is so so. I really wish it was another one.

Headquarters by The Monkees
Jan 10 2025

Listened to trash and didn’t even get I’m a Believer!?!? I would’ve rather listened to Smash Mouth. It only got a 2 because I liked the last song

Led Zeppelin III by Led Zeppelin
Jan 13 2025

It is a bland Zeppelin album. Immigrant Song is such a good opener then falls flat. Not for me.

Hail To the Thief by Radiohead
Jan 14 2025

Radiohead full albums just never do it for me. It is like a lesser newer King Crimson with a whinny voice. I do think they would be interesting live.

Jan 15 2025

The Calvary Cross was a good tune. I didn’t care for the girl ballads. If you swapped those for more upbeat stuff, I would’ve liked it more.

Trio by Dolly Parton
Jan 17 2025

I didn’t even finish it. After Wildflowers, I had hope then it was too much of singing in harmony. Not for me.

If You Can Believe Your Eyes & Ears by The Mamas & The Papas
Jan 20 2025

I can’t give any record with California Dreaming less than 3 stars. I did like this a lot. You can tell stereo was a newer thing because they used the shit out of it.

Pet Sounds by The Beach Boys
Jan 21 2025

An excellent album all the way around. It really sounds like they captured something different and I like it.

Cheap Thrills by Big Brother & The Holding Company
Jan 27 2025

My brother used to date a girl who thought she was Janis Joplin reincarnated. She was born the same day Janis died. I didn’t like her but did always like this album. Rocking good time.

Highway 61 Revisited by Bob Dylan
Jan 28 2025

For how much I hated the last Bob Dylan album, I really like this one. Like a Rolling Stone is one of my favorite songs so it just gets the whole thing kicking. Great album!

At San Quentin by Johnny Cash
Feb 03 2025

I liked this a lot. He really controlled the crowd. The banter was great. He sounded great too. I think if this was a studio album, I would’ve given it 4 stars. I enjoyed the feel so much, I bumped it up to 5.

Paranoid by Black Sabbath
Feb 10 2025

Easy 5 stars. Great album that still holds up. Brutality’s cover of Electric Funeral and Pantera’s cover of Planet Caravan are both worth a listen.

Hybrid Theory by Linkin Park
Feb 11 2025

This has so many good songs that I went to a 5. Overall, I would go a little heavier but the whole thing is just too solid for me to go to a 4. I’d be about 4.6.

evermore by Taylor Swift
Feb 12 2025

It’s ok. It was too slow overall. She has better stuff than this

Frank by Amy Winehouse
Feb 14 2025

I wish I liked this Jazz stuff more. I think I would’ve of enjoyed a live show. I’d love a live show now with Zombie Amy Winehouse but I really need the setting to like this.

Slipknot by Slipknot
Feb 19 2025

Still love this album. Good trip down memory lane. If you didn’t know, one did a backflip onto me off the speakers at one of the shows.

Violator by Depeche Mode
Feb 24 2025

Not for me. I only gave it a 2 due to one good song. Otherwise, it was a dud.

Pornography by The Cure
Feb 28 2025

The Cure just isn’t for me. Before this whole thing started, I felt like I liked them more than this but these albums are a struggle to get through.

The Atomic Mr Basie by Count Basie & His Orchestra
Mar 03 2025

It was perfectly fine background music. It would go well in a Vegas show. I would never put it on though.

Songs Of Leonard Cohen by Leonard Cohen
Mar 04 2025

Today I learned that I never need to listen to Leonard Cohen again.

Cupid & Psyche 85 by Scritti Politti
Mar 05 2025

Shortest album ever because I only listened to each song for about 20 seconds. Hated it.

Rumours by Fleetwood Mac
Mar 10 2025

This is a great album. It isn’t something that I’d put on. However, it is always good on the radio or in a movie.

Heavy Weather by Weather Report
Mar 12 2025

Perfectly fine in an elevator or lobby.

Off The Wall by Michael Jackson
Mar 17 2025

This is was a good disco feel.

Henry's Dream by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
Mar 20 2025

After I finished, I Googled, “is Nick Cave a magician.” Here is the answer, “No, the Nick Cave you're likely thinking of, the musician and frontman of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, is not a magician, but rather an Australian musician, writer, and actor. The other Nick Cave, an American sculptor, dancer, and performance artist, is known for his "Soundsuit" creations. “ Every song started and I thought, this is going to suck. The ones that picked up were a pleasant surprise. I’m not sure if I would’ve rated it under 3 stars but he hypnotized me to round up.

Mar 21 2025

Really good time. Throw on Irish folk music and everyone is in a good mood. I thought it was a tad long and slower to the end so I rounded down.

Garbage by Garbage
Mar 25 2025

It was fine. Nothing special.

New Forms by Roni Size
Apr 02 2025

Listened to it with my dad. At song 3, he asked when is this over. We were both done by then.

Green Onions by Booker T. & The MG's
Apr 08 2025

This was a step up on the blues album charts.

Abbey Road by Beatles
Apr 10 2025

Every Beatles album is good. This one always has skips for me. I just don’t get I Want You (She’s so Heavy). There are other parts I don’t care for.

Tubular Bells by Mike Oldfield
Apr 11 2025

I sort of liked it. Then sort of hated it. Then sort of liked it. Etc…that happened every 1 minute so I guess it is 3 stars.

We Are Family by Sister Sledge
Apr 15 2025

If I was 60 and about to tear up a wedding dance floor or roller-skate backwards, I would’ve liked it more.

Crazysexycool by TLC
Apr 23 2025

The big 3 are still alright songs. Maybe 14 year old me should’ve listened to this to this. It could’ve of given me a better understanding of the importance of “game”. However, those days have long past.

Time (The Revelator) by Gillian Welch
Apr 24 2025

If I was walking by someone playing this in the park, I’d think something like “that doesn’t sound terrible.” Put that same person next to me while driving, and I’d want to crack their skull open. I listened to this while driving.

Mothership Connection by Parliament
Apr 25 2025

It was a nice funk listen. There is a lot going on. They probably get sampled all the time.

Out Of The Blue by Electric Light Orchestra
May 05 2025

It may have dragged a little at the end but I’m rounding up because ELO just puts me in a good mood.

Guero by Beck
May 06 2025

Bored. Pretty much forgot it.

Drunk by Thundercat
May 08 2025

Man, I really have a good time with Thundercat. I wish Frank Zappa was around to collab. He feels like a less weird modern day version.

May 09 2025

They really overestimated how much I’d like this album. It was fun though. I was close to giving it a 4.

Siamese Dream by The Smashing Pumpkins
May 19 2025

To me, this is a 90s version of The Cure. I just don’t like them that much. I thought about giving it a 2 but gave it a 3 on nostalgia alone.

Dusty In Memphis by Dusty Springfield
May 26 2025

Son of a preacher man got me going. Otherwise it was fine to boring.

British Steel by Judas Priest
May 29 2025

Fun album. I’m biased to anything metal. Judas Priest always has a lot of skips for me, but the good ones rock.

good kid, m.A.A.d city by Kendrick Lamar
Jun 02 2025

This just isn’t for me. I feel super old know I’m even less cool.

On The Beach by Neil Young
Jun 03 2025

I’m not sure I’ve listened to an entire Neil Young album before. I enjoyed it more than expected. See the sky about to rain was my favorite.

Duck Rock by Malcolm McLaren
Jun 04 2025

Turns out ducks listen to shit music.

Murmur by R.E.M.
Jun 06 2025

I super indifferent about this whole album. It really just felt like background music the whole time. Didn’t hate it but never need to listen to it again.

Tea for the Tillerman by Cat Stevens
Jun 09 2025

This was on the higher end of folk for me which is still a 3. I could have this in the background and be fine with it.

Smash by The Offspring
Jun 10 2025

On a punk or even pseudo punk scale, it is like a 7. On this list, it was awesome. They still have great individual songs.

Toys In The Attic by Aerosmith
Jun 12 2025

I forgot how bluezy they were. It is more like a 4.5 but I rounded up. I did have a good time listening to it.

Surf's Up by The Beach Boys
Jun 13 2025

Weird feel for a Beach Boys album. A lot of drugs going around back then.

Led Zeppelin by Led Zeppelin
Jun 16 2025

Liked it more than I remember, but Zepplelin has never been my favorite. 3.5 stars rounded down. It is weird to pick up on all the blues in the old music. Also, didn’t care for the weird news article song.

Deja Vu by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young
Jun 30 2025

Good folk is only 2.5 - 3. This was fine.

Aladdin Sane by David Bowie
Jul 03 2025

I like Bowie. He just takes a lot of different ideas so the albums don’t feel stale. I really liked The Prettiest Star.

Heroes by David Bowie
Jul 14 2025

I hate to do it, but I couldn’t get into this one. I don’t like the cut up version of Heroes either. The long play is so much better. This version feels like a cd is skipping. Not for me.

Jul 15 2025

It was fine. I consider it far more of background music than something I’d put on.

Holy shit did I hate this. The intro was terrible. This sounds like an old man writing for teenagers. If I had to write lyrics for kids now I’d say a bunch of cuss words, cap and bet. It would be just as shitty as this.

Close To You by Carpenters
Jul 18 2025

Not for me. This feels like the music you grow up on then later in life become a questionable camp counselor.

Pearl by Janis Joplin
Jul 21 2025
American Beauty by Grateful Dead
Jul 25 2025

It’s been a long time since I listened to this album. I pretty much listen to Dead shows. American Beauty will forever remind me of my brother partying in our basement. For that alone, it gets 5 stars.

Imagine by John Lennon
Jul 28 2025

Beatles solo stuff is basically a hit or dud for me. This could be played with a lot of skips. I’d rather have their greatest hits than individual albums.

Sunday At The Village Vanguard by Bill Evans Trio
Aug 04 2025

If I’m getting an Old Fashioned, this is just fine. While I’m pressure washing my deck, it isn’t the best choice.

25 by Adele
Aug 19 2025
Deep Purple In Rock by Deep Purple
Aug 25 2025

I can see why a lot of my favorite bands love Deep Purple. They’re solid.

Seventeen Seconds by The Cure
Aug 26 2025

I’m done with The Cure. Please no more.

Calenture by The Triffids
Aug 28 2025

I believe the appropriate response after the first 10 seconds of every song is, “ugh”.

The United States Of America by The United States Of America
Aug 29 2025

Had a really good time with this. This seems like it would’ve been a blast live.

Maggot Brain by Funkadelic
Sep 02 2025

One of the best opening tracks for any album. Weird in a great way.

Dummy by Portishead
Sep 08 2025

I’m good with these speakeasy albums for a while.

Exile On Main Street by The Rolling Stones
Sep 22 2025

I at more piano than I was expecting. That’s not a bad thing.

Blue Lines by Massive Attack
Sep 24 2025

Massive attack of shit.

Teen Dream by Beach House
Oct 02 2025

Felt like background music. I was completely indifferent.

In A Silent Way by Miles Davis
Oct 03 2025

It seems like they bought 40 minutes in the studio. When finished said, just make it 2 songs. Fine background music but doesn’t do anything for me .

Ramones by Ramones
Oct 06 2025

I like covers of the Ramones better than Ramones.

Bad by Michael Jackson
Oct 07 2025

The songs you know are great. The others were all skips.

Sticky Fingers by The Rolling Stones
Oct 13 2025

This was a top 5 album for my brother so I heard it a lot. Always liked it. Now I love it. Dead Flowers alone is worth it.

From Elvis In Memphis by Elvis Presley
Oct 14 2025

Closer was a banger. Just needed a better song selection.

Crime Of The Century by Supertramp
Oct 17 2025

This is a great album for me. Hide in Your Shell is a banger. It just barely misses 5 stars.

Freak Out! by The Mothers Of Invention
Oct 22 2025

No Zappa album is 5 stars but all have something wild and cool enough to be 3 to 4 stars. His commentary of social and political issues still holds up.

Born To Run by Bruce Springsteen
Oct 28 2025

It was fine. I did really like him in concert. I feel like he is a lesser Meatloaf on a lot of songs.

Rust In Peace by Megadeth
Oct 30 2025

Super excited to see this. Love it! I was ready to just sing Five Magics along with the rest.

Amnesiac by Radiohead
Nov 06 2025

Sorry Radiohead. This 1 was ment for the Public Image album under you. Sometimes, that’s how the cookie crumbles.

The Doors by The Doors
Nov 10 2025

Do I like The Doors?

She's So Unusual by Cyndi Lauper
Nov 11 2025

The radio songs rock. The rest is meh. GWAR does She Bop better.

Rhythm Nation 1814 by Janet Jackson
Nov 21 2025

Overall better than TLC but the hits were worse. I was waiting for Scream but never got it.

A Girl Called Dusty by Dusty Springfield
Nov 24 2025

I liked this way more than I thought I would. 3.5

The Next Day by David Bowie
Nov 28 2025

I don’t need these second to third tier albums. He has such better stuff. 2.5 rounded up because Labyrinth.

Dec 02 2025

Considering how many times my brother and friends got high to this, I’ve probably heard this album a few hundred times. It’s still rad.

Hysteria by Def Leppard
Dec 05 2025

This still fucking rocks. 75% of it is pure enjoyment. Even with the filler it is a 5 for me.

Coat Of Many Colors by Dolly Parton
Dec 08 2025

Better than I thought. She can sing. It is probably a two but that rack…

Rage Against The Machine by Rage Against The Machine
Dec 11 2025

This album feels as good as Butters running without a leash.

Melodrama by Lorde
Dec 15 2025

Green light rocks. It gets a little too slam poetry feeling for me but way better than a lot of stuff on this list.

The Band by The Band
Dec 16 2025

You had me at cripple.

The Hissing Of Summer Lawns by Joni Mitchell
Dec 18 2025

This seems like music you play and discuss how to make your vagina smell like a flower. That conversation would be more interesting than these songs.

Low-Life by New Order
Dec 22 2025

This was too depressing for me all. All this downtrodden 80s music is not my thing.

Band On The Run by Paul McCartney and Wings
Dec 24 2025

The last song was a surprise banger. Start is awesome too. There’s just enough filler that I can’t give it a 5.

Sound Affects by The Jam
Dec 25 2025

I went to the history to figure out why this would make the list. There is nothing special. It was their 5th studio album. This was blah all the way through. I think he got drunk with a band member and promised to put it in. I couldn’t think of another reason.

A Wizard, A True Star by Todd Rundgren
Dec 26 2025

Great prog rock is awesome. I’ll usually like mediocre prog rock. Bad prog rock is fucking unbearable. This was somewhere between mediocre and bad.

Morrison Hotel by The Doors
Dec 29 2025

Maybe I’m more of a Doors fan than I thought. Their music brings me to a very specific mood. I have the desire to be in Santa Monica hunting vampires.

Violent Femmes by Violent Femmes
Jan 05 2026

The end does drag a little but I love so many songs on this. There are far too few albums on this list where I sing along. This is one where I find myself singing to everyone I hear it. That deserves a 5.

Be by Common
Jan 08 2026

4.5. Really good album and much better than I expected.

Stand! by Sly & The Family Stone
Jan 12 2026

When I saw this, I thought, “why did Rocky’s brother’s album make this list?” That is one of the dumbest things I’ve ever thought. I’m glad it wasn’t that and was this fun, funky album.

Ten by Pearl Jam
Jan 23 2026

The hits are still really good. It drags on at the end. Pearl Jam was never my favorite but the album is really good.

90 by 808 State
Jan 28 2026

My life would have been better if I never heard this.

Talking Book by Stevie Wonder
Jan 29 2026

Solid but not great.

...And Justice For All by Metallica
Feb 02 2026

Reminds me of simpler times. I’d roller skate around the pool table in my basement and my brothers would have a party with a mosh pit.

...Baby One More Time by Britney Spears
Feb 05 2026

I had no idea about the non-radio hits. The album turned into a variety hour. When that reggaeton song, I was truly shocked.

Alien Lanes by Guided By Voices
Feb 12 2026

If I wanted a bunch of quick songs, I could put on Anal Cunt. Never really got into this.

Queen II by Queen
Feb 16 2026

Second tier Queen. Could have been left off the list and just watched Highlander.

Bright Flight by Silver Jews
Feb 18 2026

Sounds like Wilco’s opener.

Bat Out Of Hell by Meat Loaf
Feb 23 2026

I still think Meatloaf and John Kruk are the same person. Fun time!

The Undertones by The Undertones
Feb 25 2026

Not all the songs played but I got enough. It was fine.

Actually by Pet Shop Boys
Feb 26 2026

Didn’t even Have West End Girls. Do yourself a favor and listen to Gwar’s cover and skip this.

Bryter Layter by Nick Drake
Mar 02 2026

I loved the intro then he started singing. I couldn’t get into his voice. The music was alright. I’m rounding up.

Led Zeppelin IV by Led Zeppelin
Mar 04 2026

This is Zeppelin at their best.

All Things Must Pass by George Harrison
Mar 06 2026

Great album. I had it on YouTube and the videos were strange. I do need to be in the right mood for it though.

Brutal Youth by Elvis Costello
Mar 20 2026

I’m good with no more Elvis Costello

Tracy Chapman by Tracy Chapman
Apr 14 2026

This album will forever remind me of my mom. I can remember her putting on this cd to this day.

Damaged by Black Flag
Apr 15 2026

This has always been middle of the road punk for me. I’d go see it live but don’t put it on myself.

Chris by Christine and the Queens
Jun 11 2026

What are we doing? How can this be on the list?

Third by Portishead
Jun 18 2026

Fuck this shit.

Jun 19 2026

A lot of YouTube videos for this junk.

Bayou Country by Creedence Clearwater Revival

Just fine. Didn’t think it was special.

Heaux Tales by Jazmine Sullivan
Jul 13 2026

She makes TLC seem like conservatives.

The Scream by Siouxsie And The Banshees
Jul 15 2026
Blue by Joni Mitchell
Jul 17 2026
The Soft Bulletin by The Flaming Lips
Jul 20 2026

3.5 rounded up. I like some songs of theirs or if I’m so messed up at a show that I need to crap walk out it. Full albums are a bit too much.

m b v by My Bloody Valentine
Jul 21 2026
Hotel California by Eagles
Jul 22 2026

Wasting Time has always been a song I love. I’m rounding my up to 4 just because of it.
