The Velvet Underground & Nico
The Velvet UndergroundIโve always heard this record described as revolutionary and groundbreaking, but I donโt really see where people are coming from there. I enjoyed it, but I guess I just donโt โgetโ it

Normal 80s pop. There were some fun elements in this album but overall, it got boring after a while. I mostly just really like Karma Chameleon.
Before I even found out this was the band of Steve Albini, I really loved this album. Very fun noise rock with heavy elements of industrial and hardcore punk music, with production thatโs raw and chaotic yet quite clear.

Joni Mitchell is a very talented singer. This isnโt an album Iโd come back and listen to again, but if I saw it for like two bucks at a record shop Iโd pick it up. The songs here are quite calming and beautiful, but not something Iโd listen to in my free time.
Hotel California is a great song. One of the best, in my opinion. After that, I really lost interest in this album.
This one was very enjoyable. While I enjoyed Kravitzโs work prior to listening to this album, I had not really taken a deeper dive into his discography so it was pretty interesting to listen to his debut. There are some really funky basslines strewn throughout it that liven the mood even when Kravitz sings about serious topics.

I wasnโt expecting to like this album as much as I did. The weirdest songs were the ones I liked most (โDropout Boogieโ, โElectricityโ, โAbba Zabaโ) but the more normal tracks were still very solid blues rock songs. That genre isnโt really up my alley but ultimately as a fan of similarly weird bands such as Primus (who seem like they could have had a heavy Beefheart influence, judging by the similarities in sound I noticed) I think Iโll be checking out more from these guys.

I wasnโt able to access this album on my streaming service so I listened to their 1992 album โNonsuchโ instead. Holy crap. It was great. I loved the songwriting, the cool psychedelia, really just everything about. Really cool album and I wish I couldโve listened to โApple Venusโ (the only thing preventing me from giving 5 stars is that I listened to a different album than the one Iโm rating)
Iโd give it 2.5 but thatโs not an option so Iโll be nice and round up to 3
Many fun songs, but really not super exciting. I might revisit it though. Favorite songs: โBarmyโ โL.A.โ โI Am Damo Suzukiโ
A very timeless gothic rock album. 5/5
Very awesome punk album
Itโs awful and I love it. Weirdly good.
Loved the first track but everything after wasnโt really all that exciting for me (except โBack In Our Mindsโ)
did not expect to like this as much as I did
Not a hip-hop fan but this was pretty cool. Definitely a pleasant surprise. Q-Tip has great flow and a very diverse range of abilities.
Iโve never been too much into folk rock but I do like CSN&Y
has some nice tunes but not particularly interesting to me
Could double as Fleetwood Macโs greatest hits album. Pretty much every song is practically a household name.
An absolute classic.
boring
The only sorta weak song on this one is Four Sticks but Going to California EASILY makes up for that
mother!
Iโm not the biggest fan of Van Morrisonโs voice
I mostly liked the production and instrumentation. Iโd say he has great flow if he didnโt mention it a million goddamn times. Also, Girls Girls Girls really sucks.
I donโt hear this style very much so this was cool
Iโve tried listening multiple times but idk why I canโt make it past the first couple of songs
i love the who
80s pop rock without too much cheese
This album has shown me that I like my hip-hop funky and soulful
Follow the Leader is great but personally I prefer Issues
Might have to come back to this since at some points I considered giving it a 5
some pretty solid classic rock
very enjoyable but I wish he employed the beat it style more often
I was originally going to give this a 2, but honestly this is a pretty cool album
Very cool 70s sound. What I enjoyed most about this was the guitar work; while it was reminiscent of bands like Creedence Clearwater Revival and the like, thereโs a lot of originality in it as well.
i just find it so funny when british people rap
full of melody and creativity
I really like his voice
quite uninteresting
These guys were so far ahead of their time that if I hadnโt known better Iโd have thought this came out in the 90s.
I came into this not expecting much. I basically never listen to hip hop, R&B, pop, pretty much any genre youโll find in this album. Boy was I surprised. The pacing on this record is really great, itโs up there with Mellon Collie or the White Album in terms of making a long album not seem long. Hill is also great at both rapping and singing, which isnโt a huge achievement but I always love it when rap music incorporates singing. Also I never knew That Thing was by Lauryn Hill so that came as a complete surprise to me
powerful songs and innovative guitars
better than modern country but I still canโt stand it
thought it was cool but not really up my alley

way too long, I was bored at the end and I think if he had cleaned it up a bit I wouldโve given it 3 stars
Pretty normal alt. rock, nothing super special about it but I liked it
I love me some classic punk rock
I like punk rock
Probably the best and most well-paced long album Iโve heard.
as someone who isnโt much into hip-hop, this album is awesome
I enjoyed this one a lot, interesting how it has a very mid 80s pop sound despite being released in โ79

really just some cool tunes to put on in the background I was excited for space shanty since the title sounded cool but I was disappointed
strangely i found this really entertaining despite it being quite different from my normal listening material
rem no. 5 for 5 stars
rock solid
quite interesting but also pretty boring. it couldโve been shortened down a bit.
I love Bob Marley
some nice solid hard rock
what. the. fuck. is this. I like weird, but this is not tasteful weird
Crazy how the Beatles went from this to fucking Revolution 9
some nice tunes, would give a 3.5 but I canโt so Iโll be nice and round up
The album that started it allโฆ without this record, metal wouldnโt be nearly the same as it is today. Possibly even nonexistent. RIP to Ozzy Osbourne, Prince of Darkness and King of Metal
Easy listening, not too exciting
A lot of people dismiss the take that Jack White is one of the best guitarists but Iโll be damned if the man isnโt creative as hell. He is 100% one of the best
Quite a fun album. Kinda dragged out there in the last one or two songs imo but pretty solid. The Beatles influence is strong with these ones
Was surprised by how aggressive some songs were, good stuff though
Great taste but poor execution
Great control of the atmosphere but while I normally like Tom Waits I think his vocal performance fell somewhat flat on this album. Ultimately this works best as something to put on in the background and not pay too much attention to.
Tom Waits is the king of setting a mood. This album (along with the album cover) gives me the same haunting feeling that I get listening to something like Kornโs self titled
Soothing
Out of all the foreign language albums Iโve had so far, this was my favorite.
It wasnโt bad, far from his best work though. Probably couldโve been omitted from the list, but Iโm still glad I listened to it because I mean come on, itโs Bowie. Laziest album cover ever?
Nice
