Julian CopeIt’s been years since I thought about Julian Cope. What wonderful journey this is. From psych to krautrock to dirge and all forms of rock. So many great tacks and tracks, maybe Drive She Said is my favourite

Know every word. And yet I don’t think I need to hear this ever again. Can’t say I dislike it, it is a quality rock album but…
Damn near perfect debut. The musicians are off the charts good and the vocal harmonies delicious. And they only got better
I was late discovering Fiona Apple. Her album Fetch The Bolt Cutters floored me and went back for a listen to the whole catalogue. Tidal is a great debut that hints at directions she would explore later. Not fully cohesive but such a joy to hear again
Not a massive fan of Ray Charles, just not one of my guys. Hard to fault the album and there’s some cracking tunes but won’t be rushing back
I’m all good for a Hot Chip in a mix but a whole album is a bit much and longer album length didn’t help. Still a fun listen just won’t be rushing back
Wonderful album. Classic harmonies. Laurel Canyon all the way. Still I hope to never hear Our House ever again
Oh my what a nostalgia hit. Loved Duran Duran as a teenager and this album still holds up for me. Some absolute classics
Oh my what I discovery. Had never heard of this guy and I thought my hip hop knowledge was passable. Have been sharing it with my hip hop friends. Great concept style album with influences from all over. Dark and heavy. This is awesome. El-P’s old band Company Flow feature on one track. Will remember this name
Once upon a time this was a 5 star album. Teenage arguments of whether this or Ride The Lightning was better even though Kill ‘Em All was my favourite. It still holds up but just means less to me now. Hetfield is one of the all time rhythm guitarists and devastating that Burton died not long after this, his bass playing hints at directions they never went down. Writing this I’ve changed my mind 5 stars still
Good fun retro rock. Not sure I’ll go back to it often but damn I enjoyed it
It’s ok. Not as bad as I remembered. Some great tracks. Still not a patch on the first three White Stripes albums and not even as good as his latest album No Name
I get that Queen are talented and it wasn’t as bad as I expected but I’ll never listen to this again
Oh happy days. Party music that holds up.
I think Spinal Tap ruined Iron Maiden for me. Some good tunes on here but it has dated and there’s no Bruce yet
Yeah nah. Not for me. Not flat out terrible but
So many debut albums featured in the book and this is one of the greatest. Will never tire of these songs. The great poet delivered the perfect album
Yeah yeah I know Brian Wilson is a genius but I just don’t dig The Beach Boys. Have tried many times to get converted and maybe I will one day, not Today!
T Rex brings me joy. Classic riffs. I wouldn’t say there is filler here but the big songs hit big
Had this on repeat. Great upbeat bossanova.
There She Goes is a 5 star track I’ll never tire of. The rest hold up to repeat listening with all the classic references to garage rock, Bowie and The Kinkd
Never heard this before. Didn’t even recognise any of the tunes. Was I under a rock when this came out? Crammed full of absolute bangers. Kept it on loop for hours
Perfection. The intensity of Miles here is next level.
Was surprised by this. Pop music bangers. Not really my thing but the quality is undeniable
I dig this but the 3 that follow this are my favourite Joni
I can’t fault the songwriting or musicianship and yet I still find this tedious.
Couple of absolute classics. Sound is a bit dated but reward comes with repeat listening
Nina is my favourite soul singer, might not technically have the voice of the other greats but only Billie Holiday matches her for raw emotion. Not a fan of the first track otherwise this would 5 stars
