I didn’t not like it, just nothing to write home about/indifferent; vibey instrumentals in the first part or so that sound like my alarm clock, and then it gets rockier/louder/faster in the latter part
Easy-listening country rhythms with acoustic guitars; good lyrical storytelling
There are so many hits on this omg; listening to this album makes you want to fight someone (in a good way); good hard-rocking songs but the album got boring a third of the way through because all the songs sound so similar
It was okay. Not the best thing I've listened to, not the worst. I'm indifferent. It's fine. I won't die if I don't listen to this again, but I wouldn't be angry if I heard this again.
I really liked the bass, drums, Fender Rhodes, organ, etc. because I love the "swing" element in the rhythm section of music, and knowing that rock drummers incorporated these elements into their own music; the vocals had an acapella-like feel with each singer singing a different note on the scale; I thought that the lyrics/song themes needed more thematic variation than just being about love
I don't know what they were singing about lol, but I loved all the arrangements/the musical compositions themselves. Interesting choices with the chord progressions and beautiful acoustic guitars, piano, and strings. The range of both voices was also impressive.
Joan has a beautiful voice and I really liked the intricacy of the acoustic guitar fingerpicking; wish there was more variety in the sound/that it got a little more experimental with other instruments, musical styles, etc. (even though this is a pretty pure folk album); felt a little long/got a little boring
Cool, distinctive jazzy voice; putting different tempos in one song—a trend across the album—was really cool
It was fine; very focused on the intricate instrumentals; would be good as background music at a dinner party
B.B. King has a nice voice, and as expected, his guitar parts had a ton of feel; as a classical pianist who wants to dive more into bluesier material, the piano parts gave me a lot of inspiration; I liked the jazzy/big band-like feel of his backing band; I liked his interactions with the audience/storytelling between numbers
Interesting rhythms and arrangements; inspiring piano that I’d like to try to play/recreate; the last song was eighteen minutes and it felt a little self-indulgent
Jim Morrison has a haunting voice that fits with the music really well; The Doors LOVE the organ in their songs omg; the jam at the end of "Light My Fire" was cool; I didn't realize how many hits were on this album; least favorite song was probably "The Crystal Ship"; I was initially skeptical of "The End" because it was eleven minutes, but wow
I love how the second track was bookended by softer parts and sped up in the middle, they were so beautiful (reminded me of “Albatross” by Fleetwood Mac and “Indian Summer” by The Doors); I liked how both tracks included rock band-like instruments to complement the trumpet
Cool African-inspired rhythms; interesting lyrics; it's one of those background, easy-listening albums; could be a bit boring at times
Tedious and boring; knew “Friend of the Devil” from Tom Petty’s cover; would be best as one of those easy-listening, dinner party albums
The singer lowkey sounds like Bo Burnham; too many synths and electronic elements for my taste
I liked the acoustic and piano sounds in this; another background dinner party album though
Dreamy vocals and arrangements/instrumentation; love the titular track
Lauryn Hill has a great voice; politically (social politics) charged lyrics that are super cool
Bruce on his Joan Baez/Bob Dylan/Led Zeppelin III grind and I'm here for it; great storytelling; one thing about me is that I love an acoustic album; a lot of the same chords were the same (D, G, A in the same sequence in particular) and I wish there was a little more variation to the chord progressions
That '80s guitar sound I don't like that reminds me of hair metal is all throughout the album; vocal style isn't my favorite
Didn't like the guy's voice; weird lyrics (see: "The Duchess"); a lot of songs had unnecessary instrumentals in the beginning that then in effect made the song drag on and be a bear to get through
I liked the guitar tone, unique sounds, instrumentation, and arrangement in each song, but I was just underwhelmed on the whole?
They want to be Led Zeppelin SO BAD; the riffs, guitar tone, and lyrical content make it so obvious; I liked the hits ("Walk This Way" and "Sweet Emotion") and "No More No More" though
I guess I just don't like '80s new wave pop
Christmas standards with the "Wall of Sound" treatment; doesn't fail to make you smile
Not bad, but very generic riff-based rock; the transitions between songs were so seamless (especially from "Waitin' for the Bus" to "Jesus Just Left Chicago") that I thought some of the songs were just one big extended song from the previous track
