Stoked to get this as my very first pick. This is a fun listen. Mind melting long ass songs and primal screaming and moaning back and forth with the guitar (end of You Shook Me and middle of Dazed and Confused). Goddamn I'm lost in the sauce. 6.5/10
12/12/2025. FUNKY! If I was lost in the sauce yesterday, I'm out at sea today. 7/10
12/13/2025. I've listened to this album before but only vaguely remember the titular song. This is clearly a personal and introspective album. Fiona Apple seems so cool but this is my first full album of hers and I don't feel like I know her well enough to peer into this journey and properly appreciate it. It's not resonating with me. (The second half of the album is maybe an improvement; maybe I finally settled in to what is offered.) I trip over my words trying to sing with her and maybe that's the point, you're supposed to be listening. She's more of a poet at heart, I think. This took me on a unique journey but I don't know the odds of listening to it again. My rating increased by 1 point after a second listen. 5/10
Favorite parts: fetch the bolt cutters. you can kick me under the table all you want, i won't shut up! the weird parasocial relationship in newspaper. heavy balloon!
12/14/25 This is what I get for complaining about Fiona Apple. Having to listen to a piece of shit wife beater next. "I never meant to hurt you" "how do you sleep at night" giant liar and hypocrite. Unable to listen to this without being angry. 3/10.
12/15/2025: I didn't listen super closely to this one. It was fine, a little boring sometimes. Face songs are The Weight and Chest Fever. 6/10
12/16/25: this was an odd suggestion for a "must-listen" list. Perhaps it was innovative for its time. 2/10
12/17/25: sort of just feeling like bland 90s upbeat pop rock. I don't hate it but I don't know that I would choose to listen to it either. 5/10.
12/18/25: I might be getting soft and/or old. Is this what people mean when they say rock just sounds like noise? They are versatile but I can't see myself listening again. 4/10 but the rat in a cage song alone bumps it to 5/10.
12/19/25: I know they came before The Killers but since I listened to The Killers first, that's mostly what I hear in terms of vocals. I may have not been in the right headspace to experience this album. Only listened once. Meh? 5/10
12/20/25 I was vibing! 7/10

12/27/25. I didn't mind this. Sounds like a bridge between the doors and the killers. 6/10
12/29/25. The beginning sounds a little like Coldplay, but mostly a boring album. 4/10
12/30/25. It was refreshing if for no other reason than to get away from UK punk rock. 7/10

1/26/26: So fun, and deeper and more varied than I expected. 7.5/10
1/27/26: again I didn't realize how many bangers were in this album. First half is amazing then falls off a little bit in the second half. 8/10
1/28/26: The album title and cover give the vibe of an unsure, self-deprecating dweeb. And then his vocals are a powerhouse. 8/10
1/29/26: Classic material right there. 7/10
1/30/26: idk man it's good but dare I say slightly overrated. 7/10
1/31/26: Really quite enjoyed this. 7/10
2/1/26. Didn't have much time or energy to listen fully but everyone knows Call Me Al and I think the style is unique. Took a few songs to acclimate but I enjoyed it. 7/10
2/2/26. Meh. More British punk. 5/10
2/3/26. Enjoyable jazz with no voice. 8/10
2/4/26. Classic first song. 6/10
2/5/26. This is not Amy's iconic album (to me). 5.5/10
2/6/26. 7/10
2/7/26. 7/10
