Not musically obvious + totally my vibe. Arctic Monkeys, The Strokes kind of feel. “The Dark of the Matinee” fav!
I think I’ll be listening.
9/10
A very long album, with a few nice little touches. Worth listening to again, I guess.
6/10
There’s a lot of experimentation and contrast here. It didn’t quite captivate me - it’s a bit too intense for my taste - but I think it’s worth taking a closer look at.
6/10
You can really feel Bowie’s strong influence. I wish I had heard it for the first time. “Perfect Day” is just perfect.
8/10
Good old rock.
8/10
How should I look at this album objectively? I have this memory from a Polish countryside wedding in the early 2000s - I was a child, and somewhere in the background a band was singing ‘All My Loving.’
6/10
Hip hop has never been my first choice, but here you have to admit it really slaps.
7/10
Girl, what a great piece of music!
10/10
It was drawn for me after Bowie and unfortunately it disappointed me. I expected something less pop and less monotonous, although Purple Rain is iconic.
6/10
I discovered A Tribe Called Quest a few months ago, and I’m curious how I would perceive the album if I didn’t already know it. It’s a bit too monotonous, but it grooves a lot.
7/10
I appreciate the craftsmanship and the cultural identity, but for some reason I can’t sit down with this album and say, “this is really good!” Maybe it’s my ethnocentrism, maybe I’ll come around to it someday. But for now, it just doesn’t captivate me.
4/10
I’d say ‚The Doors’ vibe. A nice one. But without excessive praise.
7/10
I like the concept of this album - only two tracks, it feels well thought-out and polished.
8/10
A very good, innovative album. “Kashmir” really stands out.
8/10
The first album that was hard for me to get through to the end. I understand the legacy, but it honestly sounds more like a parody of country. Act Naturally’ gets a small plus from me because it reminds me of movie X.
3/10
Nice, but it’s actually hard to listen to an album made up entirely of ballads. Although the aesthetic of the album is interesting, and Lana definitely has something special about her.
5/10
A very pleasant, optimistic album - I feel like it’s a perfect blend of alternative, traditional, and pop/rock music.
7/10
I didn’t even have to listen to it again to know it was a 5, but I did anyway.
10/10
It sounds a bit like Pink Floyd, just 10 years earlier. A good, fresh rock opera.
8/10
At first I thought this album was a bit boring. But then I started listening to it while driving in the evening, and I began to appreciate its nuance. I’m not sure if it’s still a 4, but it’s a solid 3.
6/10
If I started dancing right after turning on the album, then I guess that was the intention. A very good album.
7/10
So when Sade came up for me, I already knew what to expect. I really like “Hang On to Your Love” and a few other classics. I’ve noticed that the first impression when listening to a particular album can be significantly different from how it feels once you already know what to expect from the artist.
So… I listened to the album, read a few reviews, and I can’t shake the feeling that there might be something to the often-repeated criticism that Sade’s music lacks depth. It is, however, objectively a good, solid album. But compared to albums I gave a 5 to - those were more refined and exceptional. Even though it really grooves with me, I’m giving it a 4.
8/10
If I’m being completely honest — I listened to this album in parts. It’s hard for me to really comment on it, but it seems to be an album with soul.
7/10
Musically, it’s quite monotonous, although when you take the lyrical layer into account, everything makes sense. It feels more like an audio drama than an album, but it’s cohesive, well thought out, and often terrifying.
7/10
So I understand the concept of being alternative, rebellious, and going beyond the usual boundaries. I listen to post-punk, although I’m not sure if this can even be classified as such. Unfortunately, this time it didn’t work out, even though I understand the idea—that’s why it’s a 2 rather than a 1.
3/10
I can hear echoes of Echo & the Bunnymen, and indeed—there’s noise, but there’s also music in it. I was in that kind of mood that day, so listening to it at home in the evening felt just right. It’s not an exceptionally good album musically, but it grooves.
5/10
This album is very cohesive and consistent—I’ll keep coming back to it whenever I want to transport myself to a smoky, noir-style club.
8/10
There’s something classic and wholesome about this album. But after thinking it over, if it weren’t for “On the Beach,” I would have given it a 3.
7/10
Well… this album sounds like 2004. I get what they were trying to do, but MGMT did it better.
4/10
This album is really difficult for me. On one hand, there are moments where I think, “wow, that’s a fantastic idea,” but then I feel like it’s quite noisy and heavy.
But after thinking it over, I guess it’s closer to a masterpiece than to just noise.
7/10
Nice ballads, really emotional. But also nothing extraordinary.
6/10
Elliott Smith’s ”Either/Or” album came up for me just two days later. What incredible progress this artist made! This album is the pure definition of nostalgia. I’d listen to it while smoking a cigarette out in a field, alongside Soundgarden and Nirvana. A solid piece of music.
8/10
Could an album like this ever really become boring to anyone? Though it’s not suitable for every day either. Miles Davis doesn’t deserve anything lower than a 4.
7/10
Pain, sadness, nostalgia, regret, indifference. Elliott Smith beautifully demonstrates the full spectrum of emotions. And there is maturity in it.
6/10
I really like the combination of rock with music that makes me feel like I’m in a tavern somewhere in 17th-century Great Britain. I didn’t really listen to the lyrics because I’m not a native speaker, but musically, classic rock will always have a place in my heart.
7/10
I’d call it a feel-good album. At times it can be a bit dull, and I also don’t get that feeling of putting it on and melting into the thought, “this is a masterpiece.” “Weather With You” is definitely the strongest point.
5/10
It might as well be a Taylor Swift album — well-produced music, but there’s very little soul in it.
3/10
So when this album came up at the beginning, I was convinced it was going to be a 5. It has so many strong points that it was hard to imagine otherwise.
* Bohemian Rhapsody
* Death on Two Legs
* Love of My Life
* The Prophet’s Song
But even I’m in Love with My Car has its own charm. This album is legendary, innovative, surprising, beautiful, and funny.
Still, there have already been albums on this list that I think are better.
9/10
If every track were as good as “Daydreaming,” this album could easily be a 5. It’s musically unconventional, at times even a little exhausting, and the outro is both original and amusing. But unfortunately, in my opinion, it doesn’t maintain a high enough level throughout to deserve a 4.
6/10
It’s super cool that there’s good female rap. I’ll be coming back.
6/10
The album overall is really good, but in my opinion each track sounds a bit like it was made by a different band. There’s a bit of Radiohead in it, a bit of Soundgarden in it, but I’m missing their authentic sound.
6/10
When I listen to this album, I get the feeling that Stevie Wonder was born to make music. His eighteenth album is of this quality.
9/10
A good album; each song on its own could easily be a 5. Maybe what was missing was variety, because the album sounds as if it blends into one long, monotonous track. But I appreciate the craftsmanship.
8/10
A very emotional album with soul. Perhaps it’s my weakness for this kind of music, but this album really resonates with me. It is diverse, fresh, authentic, and above all filled with a wide spectrum of emotions. Additionally, it is not very well known.
7/10
I’d heard the name The Smashing Pumpkins many times before, but this was probably my first time actually listening to their music. It’s a bit too heavy for my taste, although I don’t question that it’s a good album. It has several strong highlights.
6/10
I didn’t even know it, but I needed to listen to an ’80s girl rock band. This album is super cohesive, fun, musically strong, and on top of that it’s the essence of ’80s rock. Really cool! So much fun!
8/10
If the early 2010s had a sound, this would be it. In my opinion, this is well-made millennial indie pop.
