1001 Albums Summary

Reminds me of Radiohead but with more explicit theming. The instrumentals are really good but no specific attention grabbing tracks for me

Lacking a cohesive theme in the album. I can see how this influenced many alternative bands like sonic youth etc but a lot of the tracks sound the same

Amazing sonic depth, the whole album is fun to listen to. I especially liked No Compassion because it felt like multiple songs rolled into one, almost like a wild jam session

The novelty dies off after the first song or two. I did enjoy the first song on the album though (it helped me get into a good grove while I was biking), and it kind of felt like I was inside an 8 bit arcade game. I can also see how this has influenced many electronic artists that came after (Daft Punk, etc.).

Had to listen to this one on YouTube because Spotify didn’t have it available. Their sound is very basic and garage band sounding but I like the intro speaking their truth about it Vietnam war and it’s interesting it was put together by some American GIs based in Germany

Amazing sound and Connell’s vocals are undeniably epic/raw. My only personal reason for 4 stars is the album is quite depressing

The concept is interesting and sonically this band is quite good. However, most of these songs are kind of forgettable in my opinion, nothing really stands out and I’m not a big fan of the late 2000’s electronic music era

Really bright album, Brian Wilson’s voice is so uplifting which is crazy to think about given his depression in real life. That being said, I am docking 1 star for it almost having an artificial nature, nobody can be that positive all the time

I know they are talented but god this album was so boring! Felt like I was in a teacher's room

Always love Fela Kuti! The live version is fun to listen to and get more perspective on his personality

Fun album! Much more listenable and sophisticated than flock of seagulls in my opinion

Not a fan of country but RIP Dolly. The first song cost of arms was quite good and I enjoyed the storytelling. However, the rest of the album sounds similar

Never been a big pumpkins fan. I can appreciate the influence they had on subsequent bands but it was hard to finish the album hence my 2 star rating

Thelonious is great! The energy is subtle but I like putting him on when I’m doing something to make the activity more enjoyable. This album feels like a fun jam session among friends!

Feels like old school Hollywood or Disney park theme music

Pretty fun album, well produced and also appreciate the social commentary of the lyrics

Not a big fan of Damon, he’s kinda pretentious and admittedly it introduced a bias in me but this album was too long and tracks were all similar

Really glad to see this album. Mariah was a pioneer of modern RnB as we know it today. Also cool to see her street cred with features from Bone Thugs and samples from hardcore hip hop tracks

Not cohesive and a bit too abrasive

Really nostalgic and fun but it wears off fast. I do appreciate their impact on modern pop music though, almost to a flaw because they became the de facto mall music

Yeah he’s the king of pop but all these songs are covers.

Genuine timeless classic!

The GoGos were more punk than this album would suggest. Sucks this watered down version got all the attention
