1001 Albums Summary

One of the best live performances of all time. Sam sounds amazing of course, but my favourite aspect of this album is his interactions with the crowd as you can tell he’s in his element performing in front of a crowd entirely of African Americans for the first time in his career and the first time in a way he was at home giving back to his culture finally being able to let loose and be free. Unfortunately, that was short lived and you can even hear him say “it ain’t that leukaemia” at one point on the album.

One of the best double albums of all time enough said

One of the best albums of the 90’s and of all time there’s a raw Beauty to this album I can’t describe in a way that does it justice.

Jefferson’s first incarnation and certainly its best this is one of the defining albums of the psychedelic wave of the late 1960’s

I’d like to pretend that this is the last doors album and nothing came after this and this is the perfect conclusion to their discography

It’s an all around really solid hard rock album with the closing track free bird being the obvious highlight of the whole album.

This is a pretty impressive album for a 19 year old on which she proves that she’s talented on the mic and carved out the path for women in hip hop a genre which even now is largely male dominated. This album also comes from my favourite era of hip hop and she’s a member of the native tongues collective so we get features from the likes of de la soul and monie love. However, my gripes with this album is that while the house beats are for good they and the songs can get a bit repetitive and this album shows it’s age a lot more than it’s contemporary’s do which isn’t too much of a gripe but I find it tends to hurt hip hop more than any other genre as it’s constantly changing so even her rapping is very much in the style of 80’s rap which looks very silly compared to the 90’s sometimes which I think is a part of the charm of early hip hop

it’s brilliant is all I have to say it’s the last real high of Brit pop as a genre before it’s already beginning decline by the time this album was released.

1001 albums: It’s a pretty great debut album my favourite part of the album is the vocal styles and harmonies throughout and the different genres they utilise such as funk and even doo wop which is pretty unique all things considered.

Not my favourite Dylan album but I’d be dammed if it Isn’t one of his best

Nothing needs to be said it’s perfect

I genuinely don’t know how to describe this because I was constantly left wondering what I was actually listening because of how avant garde it is with its pioneering use of early electronic music in rock and the bizarre ways in which the songs themselves are arranged. However, it’s never too much to the point of it being bad but it’s not so tame as to not provoke any shock and awe of what’s happening. This is something you just gotta hear to understand and what happens when a communist starts a band named after communisms greatest enemy.

Lady soul herself. yeah we all know this is great.

1001 albums: i honestly don’t understand the low score with this one because i really enjoyed myself with this one as well it might not be super groundbreaking or appear to not be anything special, I think the unique aspect of this album comes from how honest it is about merles (an ex convict) experiences of crime and heartbreak which feel a lot more genuine than a lot of other country music as he actually lived the outlaw life he portrays to some extent.
