Popular Reviews

Deloused in the Comatorium by The Mars Volta

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooooooooooo My earholes squeezed themselves shut

Beach Samba by Astrud Gilberto

The sound of a fembot sipping a cocktail from a coconut next to the pool just before Austin Powers swings round the corner. Not my bag, baby, but inoffensive and clearly well done.

It's A Shame About Ray by The Lemonheads

Ok but dull, samey jangly pop rock. Not worth a second listen.

Music Has The Right To Children by Boards of Canada

This album was like listening to vertigo. I felt like I was sinking into a pit as the music burrowed into my head and changed my brain chemistry. 1 star only because it gave me the fear :-(

Siamese Dream by The Smashing Pumpkins
Jan 13 2022

It was ok, I found it a bit bland with nothing much to recommend it apart from the ones that I remember from back in the day, that were bangers when they came out (Today and Disarm).

Bongo Rock by Incredible Bongo Band
Jan 14 2022

I would happily never listen to this again. It wasn't a bad album, but it did nothing for me. I think it was too earnest, and I can imagine that people who understand music would really appreciate it.

Here, My Dear by Marvin Gaye
Jan 17 2022

This was awful. If the 70s had porn in the 'popular with women' category, this would be the soundtrack.

Dire Straits by Dire Straits
Jan 18 2022

It was inoffensive but dull. I can't remember any of the songs after listening apart from Sultans of Swing, which probably tells you something about this album. It reminded me of being a kid and going on holiday with Dire Straits on the cassette player in the car. I would not choose to listen to this album again but if I had to it would not be the end of the world.

Debut by Björk
Jan 19 2022

Enjoyable, I like Bjork's voice, it's a nice counterpoint to all the baby voiced female singers of the modern era. She sings like she really means it. She isn't afraid to leave gaps in the music and let the emotion in her voice fill it in.

Mermaid Avenue by Billy Bragg
Jan 20 2022

I didn't listen to the lyrics very hard as it was the soundtrack to a particularly gnarly spreadsheet and I had to concentrate. But the tunes were boppy and inoffensive. I liked the one where the girl was singing. Would put this on to help me conquer formulae again.

Music Has The Right To Children by Boards of Canada
Jan 21 2022

This album was like listening to vertigo. I felt like I was sinking into a pit as the music burrowed into my head and changed my brain chemistry. 1 star only because it gave me the fear :-(

Illmatic by Nas
Jan 24 2022

I was surprised how much I liked this, as I don't usually gravitate to this sort of music other than the well known bangers. I paid no attention to the lyrics but I'd defo listen to it again as a boppy backdrop for work.

Jan 25 2022

I blinked and missed most of this. Sounds like a kid that isn't really a bad kid having a rant at their indulgent parents in the kitchen of a nice detached house in the suburbs.

Jan 27 2022

Started off good, I even saved a song. Then descended into such nonsense I couldn't finish it. Seems like the band got themselves into a room and played any old rubbish and passed it off as an album.

Fetch The Bolt Cutters by Fiona Apple
Jan 28 2022

Enjoyed this, apart from the avant garde whale song moments. If I knew how to I'd edit all the shite out of this and it'd be even better. Will listen again and try some of her other stuff.

Blue by Joni Mitchell
Feb 01 2022

A few days before I got this one Joni Mitchell boycotted Spotify in protest over their anti-vax content, so I was intrigued. I really liked her voice, but none of the songs have stuck with me apart from the Christmas song.

One World by John Martyn
Feb 02 2022

Some quality songs on here. The amusingly titled 'Big Muff', 'Dancing' and 'Couldn't love you more' which made it onto my Spotify playlist for 2022 and made a tear come out. I don't know what genre this is, but seems a big ole' mashup of whatever worked, and his raspy voice is nicely unusual.

Court And Spark by Joni Mitchell
Feb 03 2022

Sorry Joni, I know you are an icon but I couldn't listen to this all the way through. Got about three songs in and ditched it. Dull. Soz.

The Soft Bulletin by The Flaming Lips
Feb 07 2022

This album should be renamed 'If bin juice made a noise it would sound like this'.

Something/Anything? by Todd Rundgren
Feb 08 2022

Got about 3 songs in and had to abandon it. Nothing about it captured my imagination or stirred emotion. The sound of unsweetened rice pudding with cloves in it. Spyak.

Rubber Soul by Beatles
Feb 10 2022

What's not to like. Even if you don't like a tune, they are super short so it's over before you know it.

Happy Trails by Quicksilver Messenger Service
Feb 11 2022

I didn't skip any tracks, but then again I didn't really listen to it as it just blurs into one amorphous supermarket rock jazz sound blob. Blended into the background of my work and didn't interrupt.

Femi Kuti by Femi Kuti
Feb 14 2022

Sorry Femi Kuti, I just hate the saxophone.

It's A Shame About Ray by The Lemonheads
Feb 15 2022

Ok but dull, samey jangly pop rock. Not worth a second listen.

Mr. Tambourine Man by The Byrds
Feb 17 2022

Cute. Surprisingly melancholy. Couldn't really tell the difference between the songs after Mr Tambourine Man.

E.V.O.L. by Sonic Youth
Feb 18 2022

Yuk. This is the sound of walking into a hoarder house and finding a decomposing corpse. I hated it.

Are You Experienced by Jimi Hendrix
Feb 22 2022

Wayne's World flashbacks. Bangers (Foxy Lady, Wind Cries Mary, Fire, Manic Depression, Purple Haze) alone are worth four stars, but it's down to three cos of the filler.

Sex Packets by Digital Underground
Feb 23 2022

Awful. Pointless.

Aladdin Sane by David Bowie
Feb 25 2022

Other than the bangers the ironic rock n roll Saturday night vibe is not for me.

Buena Vista Social Club by Buena Vista Social Club
Mar 01 2022

Started off really great with the salsa stuff but it lost steam for me about half way through.

Antichrist Superstar by Marilyn Manson
Mar 02 2022

Loved this when it came out. Now I can only listen to Beautiful People and Antichrist Superstar. The thought of ever having being a fan of the lead singer makes me cringe.

Beach Samba by Astrud Gilberto
Mar 03 2022

The sound of a fembot sipping a cocktail from a coconut next to the pool just before Austin Powers swings round the corner. Not my bag, baby, but inoffensive and clearly well done.

Mar 04 2022

Always liked this, good tunes, great voice, great lyrics.

The Yes Album by Yes
Mar 07 2022

Background music. I know it was playing but it might as well have been white noise.

B-52's by The B-52's
Mar 08 2022

Awful

Tigermilk by Belle & Sebastian
Mar 15 2022

Too twee for me

Play by Moby
Mar 16 2022

I'd forgotten about this album. It's really rather good!

Master Of Puppets by Metallica
Mar 29 2022

Bland. Samey. No bangers. Warm up for the good stuff methinks

Deloused in the Comatorium by The Mars Volta
Mar 31 2022

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooooooooooo My earholes squeezed themselves shut

Slanted And Enchanted by Pavement
Apr 01 2022

Boring droning drivel. Are bad vibrations, going through the air because of rubbish music, the reason for all the shitty things that happen in the world? E.g. every time this album gets played someone gets closer to inventing an even more evil pesticide or invents another stupid product that we don't need. Someone should correlate world events to when albums get released :-(

Meat Is Murder by The Smiths
Apr 05 2022

The sound of the feeling of chewing a towel.

Sea Change by Beck
Apr 08 2022

Good background music. Did not make me melancholy. I believe it was the sound of the colour of saudade, which is orangey blue. Would listen again.

Lady Soul by Aretha Franklin
Apr 11 2022

Not a bad bop. Wailed along to natural woman whilst making a brew.

Grace by Jeff Buckley
Apr 13 2022

Strange and delicate whale song. I thought 'I'll listen to more of this guys stuff!'. Only to discover he is dead. Very sad.

Sheet Music by 10cc
Apr 14 2022

Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope on a rope. Starts at nope and circles all the way back to nope. Not Leslie Knope but actual nope. Nope.

Lady In Satin by Billie Holiday
Apr 20 2022

Sadly this album reminds me a bit of a creepy restaurant I worked at that hardly anyone ever visited. One night chef didn't have the ingredients for orange chicken so he used hot concentrated OJ, the kind you get in a carton. So I associate this kind of music with a grey haired old woman with a tight perm thrusting a plate of shredded chicken floating in orange juice at me in disgust. There was no fooling her! Billie's soothing notes did nothing to diffuse the situation.

Maggot Brain by Funkadelic
Apr 27 2022

As soon as that baby started wailing in the last track I switched over to Phil Collins 'oooo yeah I wish it would rain down'....on my ears and wash all this musical cack out of them. The sound of the smell of cold Brussels sprouts. Amazing what one late 80s power ballad can do!

Either Or by Elliott Smith
Apr 28 2022

Used to listen to this over and over when I was at uni. Past that phase now.

Technique by New Order
May 04 2022

Meh. I didn't even notice it was playing until Spotify 'album radio based on' started playing Cowgirl by Underworld.

Oedipus Schmoedipus by Barry Adamson
May 05 2022

This was absolute pants. If I could give it minus stars I would. Minus one thousand stars for sounding like jellied tripe.

Out Of The Blue by Electric Light Orchestra
May 06 2022

I gave this 3 stars just because of Mr Blue Sky and Sweet talkin' woman. All the rest is acceptable filler.

Five Leaves Left by Nick Drake
May 09 2022

Melancholy but good. Not as good as Pink Moon.

Achtung Baby by U2
May 10 2022

It's just really good. Every track is a banger.

Surfer Rosa by Pixies
May 17 2022

Save yourself some pain and listen to Death to the Pixies

Ill Communication by Beastie Boys
May 20 2022

Thought it was a bit boring, skip listened to most of the tracks.

Hot Rats by Frank Zappa
May 23 2022

Hot shite

Cross by Justice
May 27 2022

Banger

Pyromania by Def Leppard
May 30 2022

Save yourself some trouble, just listen to the greatest hits album. All filler one killer.

Loveless by My Bloody Valentine
May 31 2022

Pop music being played by people who are sliding down a hill through a temporal distortion that is stretching their faces into wisps. 90s me would've liked it, if she'd known about it. 20's me ain't got no time for the discordance.

Groovin' by The Young Rascals
Jun 01 2022
