I'll kill myself if I have to hear Cradled in Love again I swear.
YOU KNOW I'M A PSYCHOOOOOO
This was the lowest of 2s.
I only know these guys from writing the Malcolm in the Middle theme song.
Cloissonne is a weird jam.
Honestly a lot of these are so weird but fun. Definitely a unique album.
That was some alright country rock. Would get a little too country at parts but would also noodle around a bit at other parts.
Some songs I enjoyed the guitar but overall I did not like the vibe of the album. Definitely had a Springsteenish sound to it. Meh. Really ended on a bad boring note.
Had this on in the background while working and it definitely helped scratch a vibey music itch. A little long for my taste but in no way bad. Between a 3 and 4 here and just gonna go high 3 with 4 potential on a more concentrated listen.
Don't think I've ever seen an album formatted like this. It's not on AM so going through YouTube. I'm about 10 minutes in and this sounds like department store music.
It's probably terrible quality on here or at least I hope it is, because frankly this sounds like shit and I've tried a couple different ones. DO BANDCAMP. It's better but not by much. This shit SUCKKKKKSSSSSSSSS
This feels like some kind of sick joke. I'm currently listening to commercials.
I'm calling it. Giving up halfway through The Weather Channel 4 as it's all the same bad quality sax department store music.
Not bad overall. Gave me a vibe of a club in Europe in the 90's.
Baller af that this is on here, and besides WFH this might be my favorite thing to come out of covid. I'm guessing this won't do too well with the reviewers, he kinda caught lightning in a bottle with it. Also helped that I turned 30 a few days before this was released.
One of the best parts about it is that he's super self aware about his past, present, and future.
My stupid friends are having stupid childrennnnnnnn hits hard right now sorry Jackson/Brandon.
Welcome to the Internet will forever be ingrained in my brain.
That Funny Feeling is probably the most natural song on here and is great after the sequel to Bezos I.
All Eyes On Me has some sort of epic ness too it that I can’t quite put my finger on. One of the best on the album.
Honestly came into this ready to give it a 4 but I can’t deny how much I fucking love this album. Listened to the deluxe version after and that also slaps.
He’s Bo yo
That was some classic yazz nothing special but easy to listen to.
This guy sure can play the trumpet!
This Land is a jam. The crazy sludge bass goes hard on it.
I just gotta laugh at Feelin' Like a Million. Not sure reggae is GC Jr.'s thang.
This Land, Pearl Cadillac, The Guitar Man, and Low Down Rolling Stone are the jams of the album.
Love that he tries some different sounds on here even if it does feel a bit disjointed at times. Definitely enjoy him the most when he's shredding and bluesy.
I disagree with the production of this record.
This album is a trip. It's like Nick Drake singing over some crazy ass production. It's a bit hit or miss from me tbh. The length also doesn't help the cause.
I think I would lose my mind if I listened to "The Name of the Next Song" on psychs. Would just think I'm in an infinite time loop.
Meh 3.
A few songs in and I honestly didn't expect to like this as much as I have.
Limousine is fantastic.
I definitely don't enjoy the screaming vocal parts, but luckily that's few and far in between. Low 4 but adding limousine to the library.
Honestly kinda refreshing to have a movie score on here, and this one is cool af.
Love Theme from Blade Runner is a sexy jazzy one.
One More Kiss, Dear is the most traditional sounding one, and kinda breaks it up very well.
Blade Runner Blues sounds like Pink Floyd.
The end titles sound like a Hans Zimmer score.
For a score this shit was awesome and I'm giving it a 5.
Got pretty aggressive in the middle there. Had its ups where they would shred or get a little experimental and downs where it was like I was listening to screamo. Either way it had me engaged at least. Ending on Easy is wild. Sounded nothing like the rest of the album.
Solid 3.
Love me some M83. Seeing them at Lolla way back was a spiritual experience. One of the best golden hour shows I’ve ever seen in my life (with Griz, different vibe).
Midnight City, Reunion, Wait, Steve McQueen, and the all spiritual Outro are just all timers.
Unfortunately theres just a little bit too much filler on here to give it a 5 for me, but it’s close.
Had some moments but was ultimately waiting for it to be over.
Cannonball absolutely rules. I have no clue where I've heard it before but its super familiar sounding.
Mad Lucas is a trip and I love it.
That was fun and flew by.
Ian got me into this band! This is pretty fun about halfway through.
Gimme Sympathy is kinda cringey.
Definitely had its moments and the singer was great, but felt a bit too polished and something felt off. Still not bad.
Just couldn't get into it. The vocals/music had this weird discrepancy to it minus a couple of songs.
Tbh I've always found this type of music incredibly boring. Usually if an EDM genre has the word tropical in it I may bob my head a few times, but it ultimately does nothing for me. Something about it feels so uninspired. I can understand seeing this live might be fun but I probably won't be there unless I'm dragged.
Definitely solid for a completely instrumental, guitar driven album. Nothing incredible stuck out to me but was some solid background music whilst working.
Some of these songs are reminding me of The Hives. Delikatessen reminded me of the Arctic Monkeys.
Def had it's own vibe most of the time though. Going high 3 on this one.
Makes total sense that this is the founder of Trans Siberian Orchestra after hearing Prelude to Madness.
Not bad but gets a little too power rocky for me. High 3.
Avett Bros have some absolutely gorgeous songs. Some of them just drag on too long for me for what they are. But songs like And it Spreads is just beautiful.
I just wish they got a little more experimental and weird with it, but then they go into poppy sounding stuff and ruins it for me. Would bump them up a whole echelon for me just switching that up. They're worse Wilco.
About 6 songs in and this is just alright. Probably heard some of these songs in the early 200's and there's a reason why I don't remember any of them. Really enjoying the end of Born to ____. By far the best part of the album so far.
Found myself liking some of the guitar on some songs and it was nothing egregious. Length makes it straddle 2/3 line.
Minute in and already loving this. Ooo that is sludgy towards the end.
Alright halfway through and I absolutely adore this. Looking up when they play around here and they play April 13th at the Warner Theater! Probably gonna go if any of you have interest.
Lingus was incredible to end on. That keyboard solo was sick.
Probably going to listen to these guys the rest of the day.
This one took some getting used to. Really wasn't loving it because of the vocals but it fell into a groove about halfway through. Ended pretty great again and the vocals seemed to grow on me a bit.
Some classic 80's pop songs going on hard here. I really do enjoy Only In My Dreams though. Also the only song I think I knew on here. The rest kinda flew by. I feel like I've heard worse 80's pop but nothing really stood out to me except that one song. High 2.
What a confusing ass listen. On one hand I would absolutely see these guys headline some kinda psychedelic Rennfest, and other times it was just straight up weird. Honestly really fell into a groove as it went on. Some great guitar strumming.
As it went on I could hear how Jefferson Airplane would be an influence to them.
This is a confused 4.
Live Jacket is the best Jacket. If you don’t know MMJ I could see looking at a 2+ hour live album and rolling my eyes but these guys are incredible.
Jim James is my Jesus
Tough band name.
I'm definitely not enjoying the harsh yelling in this, but the music is really great at times. Unsurprisingly one of my favorites is the instrumental Maritime.
Got better as the album went on. Just a little too long and I was never a fan of the yelling.
Khruangbin almost always hits. Insanely good debut album from the trio. I know music like it definitely was put out before, but what they did with this type of music definitely changed the indie scene imo. Ton's of bands over the years have adopted the "Khruangbin sound" to positive or negative degrees.
Has some of their best songs in Mr. White, White Gloves, People Everywhere, and August 12. Every other song is top tier in the sense of an album flow. Always an album you can put on and let it ride.
Not the highest of 5's but hard to give it anything else when it's so enjoyable almost every listen.
We are on a fuckin roll!
Cooking Up Something Good is better than good.
I've always wanted a Viceroy cig after listening to this song. I should make that a reality.
My Kinda Woman has the kinda riff that'll be stuck in your head all day.
BRB off to listen to some more old school Mac.
That was some alright jazz. Got pretty dark in the middle and then I'm pretty sure I heard "Yankee Doodle Dandy?" This was firmly background music for me. Meh 3.
This is definitely one of my favorite types of rap music of recent years. Cool beats, experimental, and just weird enough. Kinda reminds me of ODB in how he raps a bit.
Extremely different from most hip-hop I've heard in the past 10 years. For that you get an inspired and unique 4.
Man Schism fucking rules. Gives me goosebumps hearing that bassline.
This is an easy 4 for me but doesn't quite bump up to a 5. Tool has some awesome songs spread out across their albums but sometimes I just get lost. Not a bad thing at all and an awesome album in itself.
Look how the massacred my boy. What’s Your Name? Is a terrible song and surprised this is the same band from Violator.
That was fun for being completely in Spanish and only knowing a few words
