An odd mix of techno and boom bap.
Some weird psychedelic sample based stuff that was unique but not all that coherent.
Psychedelic guitar rock at its finest. Jimi is a legend and the production on this thing is stellar.
Some of the most ornate production on a pop record of all time. The album cover is terrible but the music itself is so joyous it hardly matters.
Inexplicably opens with a gorgeous orchestral track and (for the most part) continues that creativity and spontaneity throughout the record.
Definitely needs a relisten — great lyrics, good energy, but dissonant, stripped-back, post-punk does not add up to a very enjoyable listen.
Alright British arena stuff.
Pleasantly orchestrated, pleasantly sung, pleasantly written, simply done, and just well made.
Bossa Nova is king. Stan Getz’s work here is just as fantastic and smooth as his name.
I’ve come around to goth rock and the production on this is pretty interesting but this album was quite boring overall.
Ice Cube’s delivery and flow are iconic, and his vivid and violent lyrics suit the vibe he’s going for even if they get a bit repetitive.
Opens with a classic and continues with well-made chamber and synth driven pop.
Emotional and moving alternative R’n’B. Frank Ocean’s control of orchestration and lyricism is unparalleled.
I’ve never heard anything that sounds like this album, odd mix of beat poetry with non-traditional instruments and insane vocal delivery.
Art-punk is a weird genre. It's not experimental enough to be called post-punk or anything, and doesn't switch up the punk formula all that much. But there's something off about it, like a longer song here and there, or some odd instrumentation. But it's still very go-ahead punk. Just a weird middle-line.
Country isn’t bad but the album felt samey and just wasn’t up my alley.
Certainly not his best but Stevie Wonder is such a joyous artist and everything he makes just exudes happiness.
The Stones’ production and blues rock style have never really appealed to me.
Rap in its purest, most distilled form. Impeccable bars, and a stripped back production that is so clean you could eat off of it.
A lot of people have complained about their relationships, and a lot of people will continue to, but Sinatra has an earnestness that’s genuinely hard to describe.
I can appreciate how influential this group is and the talent of their rapping abilities but the production on this thing has aged like milk.
Generic rock, unfortunately, despite the lovely Texan accent.
