RadioheadOne of my favorite albums of all time. Big. Interesting. Sad. Makes a point. It’s beautiful.
One of my favorite albums of all time. Big. Interesting. Sad. Makes a point. It’s beautiful.
Interesting. Clearly solid music. But not for me really
As a person who was in high school and owned this album when it came out, this sounds like someone put “make me some songs that sound like 1999” in an ai song generator. It’s dated. It’s not particularly great for the nu-metal genre. It’s not even Incubus’ best album.
One of my all time favorite albums
It's a lot more intense than I remember it being. The beat work on this is phenomenal. The lyrics are on point, but wow. I'd be surprised at any time if this came out.
I remember the first time I heard this album. Somebody had mentioned it was really good and I sat down and had a very similar experience to today "Is this background music?" and then somewhere in track 3 you just get swept up in the sound. It's big while maintaining a subtlety. There is a lot going on for something that is whisper quiet at times. Also, John Wayne Gacy, Jr. is still as haunting as it ever has been.
This has some absolute jams on it and is also so much at once. Starts real soft and soulful with You are the sunshine of my life, which is a little saccharine these days, but then gets just into some _sticky_ funk with Maybe your baby. It has the enormous banger of Superstition. It closes with one of my favorite love songs of all time "I Believe" (which is taken advantage of in the closing moments of High Fidelity)
This is... fine. I remember this coming out. I didn't have much interest in it then. It feels similar now. There are some caveats to my feelings: 1. I think Metallica is absolutely stellar up to their self-titled ("Black Album", 1991), and then there are gems here and there an obviously legendary songs from them, but few that I get excited to sit down and listen to (Load was good). 2. I'm not a huge fan of a live album, but this is a decent twist on your standard (though, it's certainly not the first symphony + rock album, nor the last). I don't know that anybody _must_ hear this. It's aggressively long. I bet it would've been fun to be in the crowd. The symphony is obviously super good at what they're doing. It's just kinda blowhardy. Overall, I'd rather have spent my 2 hours and 13 minutes on something else.
I own this record. I remember picking it up one day and assuming it was a greatest hits album. It is absolutely packed. There are a ton of great things happening on here. John Fogerty was a force.
This is my favorite Talking Heads album. It is profoundly great. Brian Eno and David Byrne together for the third? time in a row comes with just the funkiest version of Post Punk one could've come with. This came out in 1979 and can hear the next several years of music erupting out of it. Honestly, have you ever tried to just sit still and listen to Cities? Impossible lest ye lack a single bit of soul in your body.
Otis's voice is a thing of beauty and the backing band nails every note. It's a nearly perfect album.
Something wildly out of my normal choices and I dug it. She was an insane talent. Vocal range is fantastic. Songs are beautiful set up. Not my normal cup of tea, but wow. Also, I learned that she was revolutionary as all hell, was on the Paul Simon Graceland tour, has a huge discography and wow... I'm _into it_
Ya know, I tend to love an art rock, and maybe it was my mood yesterday, but this just didn't land with me. The Radiohead influence is strong, though. Which I liked.
Quiet and easy. Beautifully written. Strength of Strings really stands out
I feel like I knew every song on this album, but had never heard it all together. It's... it's a really good album. I enjoyed it a lot. Not a lot of moments I think "I'm going to sit down and listen to Billy Joel" and I certainly did it twice.
I love this album.
This album reminds me of an ex's grandma (lovely woman). She loved The Girl From Ipanema and used to hum it a bunch. It's a nice memory. This album is an absolute classic. Getz could really play the sax. Gilberto was a master of everything else. Bossa Nova at its purest. Gilberto's wife, Astrud, is the famous voice on The Girl From Ipanema. She absolutely nails it from beginning to end. They really screwed her out of money on that one.
Got some good funk on it. It can get you moving. Salsa is fun but it's not my thing normally. After a couple of listens, I was definitely dancing without noticing.
Some things just aren't for me. This style of music is one of those. This group is the best at that style. That makes for good listening for 3-4 songs. Then I hope that maybe I stop hearing it.
I’m honestly a bit of a super fan already. I love this album and Janelle does little wrong in my eye.
So, back in 2013, I saw Prince live. 1000 person venue. Incredible time... but beside that point, a comment when I left was "I think there are 1000 people who are now pregnant -- from eye contact alone, myself included" and as an adult male who very much does not have a uterus, that seemed like a funny thing to say. Friends laughed. But like, listen to 1999. Tell me Prince didn't just bang you. It's an absolute masterpiece. Starts with the hits and then descends into hedonism.
It’s fine
Gimme Shelter leads off this album and is just so so good that you forget how good it is, over time. I feel like I take it for granted. There are a few of those songs on this album, and it really does a great job of showing off Keith's skillset.
I remember the first time I ever listened to this album. It's an incredible debut from a band that would go on to influence a whole genre of music. They'll hit their stride fully in a few years, with Doolittle, but the early genius of the band is so visible here.
I enjoyed this. I hadn’t heard it. It was really solid
One of the greatest albums of all time with four of the absolute best at their craft at their peaks. This album is such a big deal that your opinion on it starts to feel like it doesn’t matter because the album just _is_ Noting: their version of When the Levee Breaks is a testament to drumming and is also one of my favorite songs, period
Dreamy. Floaty. Pretty. Ahead of its time by a _lot_. I really like this album. I understand that it's not for everybody, but it is definitely for me.
My favorite pixies album and one of my favorite albums of all time.

Way out of my norm. It was beautiful. His voice is fantastic and it really pulls together well musically. I’ll queue it up on Bastille day at my house
I had never heard this before. It was extremely my jam. I loved it.
Incredible album. The back to back of The Mess We’re In and You Said Something is just phenomenal. I got this on a Friday and I listened to it all weekend
Opening track is amazing. Otherwise it’s really a lot
An enjoyable album by a band that put out one of my favorite albums. I prefer their later sound but this was still a very strong set
One of my favorite albums of all time. Big. Interesting. Sad. Makes a point. It’s beautiful.
Amazing album showcasing Bruce at some of his best songwriting. It’s sad and it tells a compelling story
I just. I didn’t like it. I was bored for most of it. I get the influence. It is an important album but I felt like it was just some “screw you dad” music of the people with mop top haircuts.
It’s obvious how they became famous but also I spent a lot of time yawning to soft jams
I liked the sound. It was interesting. I think I’d like to revisit when I’m in a more gazey mood
This is clearly a very good album that I just don’t need to hear again. Maybe that’s just the effect of the day and other things going on, but I wasn’t into it and just don’t see myself appreciating it for the skill involved
A groundbreaking classic that still entertains.
Swingin. I enjoyed this a bunch
Absolutely swingin. Some of the solos are jaw dropping. I still hate a live album, but this performance fed off of that crowd.
Great exploration of the genre that brings back some good memories.
One of the best albums of all time, imo.
I love this album.
One of my favorite albums by Tribe. It’s not Midnight Marauders but it’s still a classic for good reason
This was just not a good album. It was derivative before she released it.
Nearly perfect album. One of the greatest ever
Fantastic album
Interesting. Clearly solid music. But not for me really
I loved this. Listened to it 3x today.
This is an album I spent a lot of my life not understanding, and today it smacked me right in the face. It’s quiet and it’s reflective and it’s got a point and I suddenly understand so much how it was so influential. Some albums are made for that quiet train ride when it’s raining outside and you’ve got your headphones in.
Solid album, but what do you expect from Bowie? It’s not a 5 star level but still excellent.
It’s good and it’s interesting and for white people (and the music industry) it sure was different and ground breaking. Knowing the history behind it sure adds to the mystique of Elvis and his rise to fame. That being said, I always thought Elvis’ best creative years are his later ones.
Everybody of a certain age remembers where they were on 9/11. I woke up to my roommate telling me about the towers, I took a bong toke, and then I went about my day. I rolled into tower records and bought Blueprint. It’s tough to point out how big Jay-Z was at this point. He was everywhere all of the time. Year after year of singles dominating radios and blasting out of cars was his standard. This was no exception, and was honestly his best album at this point (but not his best ever, imo, that’s The Black Album). Song after song was big, but The Takeover will forever stick out in my mind because I’m both a Nas and Mobb Deep superfan. I couldn’t believe he was taking a swing that big. It was shocking just four years after Big and Pac for a big star of this caliber to drop something this nasty on that climate. Anyway, all other things aside, the beats on this were nuts. Kanye got his big breakthrough. Just Blaze killed it. It was wild and holy shit Nas was right about Renegade “Eminem murdered you on your own shit” - phenomenal feature. It’s a really good album and this comes from a person who was a hater and a half after hearing the diss.
It’s a classic. A case of you is an absolute heart crusher. Her voice is at its peak. Wonderful album through and through
What an incredible streak this man had.
I started with negative feelings and left thinking that it was a solidly good album. I recognize the importance and contribution but psych rock opera isn’t my thing
Classic punk album about smacking nazis around. I love this shit.
I haven't thought about this album in a long time. It's fine.
MY YOUTH.
This album has me very torn. A lot of it is fantastic, but also Every Breath You Take is garbage
As a person who was in high school and owned this album when it came out, this sounds like someone put “make me some songs that sound like 1999” in an ai song generator. It’s dated. It’s not particularly great for the nu-metal genre. It’s not even Incubus’ best album.
I really like this. I’d listened a couple of times in the past but something about it really stuck with me this time
I was just so bored. Maybe it was my mindset that day
Hell yeah this album rules
Be still, my little goth heart. This album is fantastic
I love this album. I have the whole thing memorized. I was really into Oasis for a bit. It happens.
Grown folks music. Just a whole album of gems. The liner notes were amazing, iirc.
Difficult to describe how importantly interesting this album was when it came out. Radiohead just released it. Pay as much as you want. Download a high quality copy from their site. It was nuts. I love this album on top of that. It was super well put together and holds up 17 years later.
Sometimes you listen to something and go “this is obviously good and this is also not for me” This album did that.
No thanks
