Wish You Were Here
Pink FloydI enjoyed the guitar work a lot. It isn't something I would listen to normally, but I absolutely get why people dig it. Also some really fun production that I'm sure was groundbreaking at the time.

It was fine. Not the right kind of sad boy music for me, really.
Really dig the saxaphone and general funk to this one. Temptations have always been one that I like returning to when I feel like I need to move a little.
What is with all these sad ass albums? It isn't objectively bad but I have a hard time connecting with an album like this. Every song sounds kind of the same to me with the acoustics and sing songy voice.
Favorite track (so far): Intervention Love the production. Lol I didn't realize "My body is a cage" was the sample for Kings on Macklemore's Vs. EP. Very good song Overall very good album. Suffers from the same thing a lot of indie did at this time (for me) which is it feels like a lot of good ideas but no "payoff" if that makes sense. I like the concepts of the instrumentals, but I keep waiting for a beat drop or a big movement and it almost gets there but not quite. Maybe that's the point, or maybe I'm shallow and want something a little too simplistic from my music. Either way, It keeps it from being something that I am absolutely in love with. I will say, I didn't give Arcade Fire much of a chance before this one (I didn't like "The Suburbs" all that much) and this album was a lot better than what my memory has associated with them.
I wrote a bunch more here, but the browser deleted everything :( Honestly my favorite album so far. Finally, one that I would listen to outside of this project. Her vocals are just so good, and the instrumentals make me move a little. There's a lot of power in her lyrics too that oozes confidence and feels just good. Lovely album.
Not really able to be completely unbiased on this one. This album, and especially "Breakdown" and "American Girl" and a slew of other Tom Petty tracks were background music in my house growing up. Tom Petty is my parent's shared favorite artist. Hell, my dad looks like a brunette (and unaddled by drugs) tom petty. That said, it was nice to revisit it as a whole album, something I havent done on my own. The lyrics are sometimes a tad shallow, but undoubtedly fun, and the guitar work is solid. Its not the best Tom Petty album but it got the train started.
Gimme that weird jazzy shit! I have never heard of this one before and I'm hella into it. Blues in Bob minor was a particular highlight. I definitely wanna time up to this album some day, just feels that kind of experience.
I mean, this one already is in my heavy rotation. Jurassic 5 is basically the Power Rangers of Hip-Hop as far as I'm concerned. All of them flow together so well and they ooze confidence with every rhyme. Instant classic for me.
Completely fine. Some honest-to-goodness hits on this one, but not something that really sticks with me. I can imagine this being an album I throw on at a party as a crowd pleaser, because the songs are genuinely good, but I'm probably not going to seek it out on my own most days. I do like when Blondie skews more toward the punk side of their sound, and the lyrics are pretty satisfying. It's not hard to see why hits like Heart of Glass and "One way or another" took off like they did.
Honestly a little disappointing. Nothing bad but not a lot that stood out to me either. I expected this one to be 4 or 5 star but instead the tracks melted together a little and didn't really ever hook me in.
The album cover honestly portrays this album well. The most power ballad album to ever power ballad. Its not hard to see why people look back on this album fondly. Basically every song here could be a single, but the titular track, as well as two outta three and paradise by dashboard light all stood out to me. 3.5 if I could. I'm not gonna put this one in my rotation but its never unwelcome.
First track was pretty disappointing. I'm not into sleepy stuff usually. There are some interesting ideas on the following tracks, "If I were with her now" in particular. But honestly I didn't find this album very compelling even if its probably someone's favorite. I think I had the same impressions when I saw them at Sasquatch.
Is this... EDM? Right off the bat, I have no idea what to make of this. Good as background music, but I have a hard time with EDM as something I'd listen to with the same intentional ear that I do other stuff. I'm not against it, though. The more I listen, the more I think of 90s EDM in general, I'm getting Darude - Sandstorm vibes, which apparently came out well after this album. I really dig the track "Original". Space Shanty is also incredible. Okay, this album grew on me a lot as it went on.
One of the things I read about this album is that there weren't any singles, and that makes sense. The whole album is solid and definitely worth the time spent on it, and I'll probably return to it in the future for that reason. Altogether enjoyable
I mean, its the Beatles. Hard to miss. All my lovin and Roll over Beethoven stand out.
If nothing else, this album is sound engineering at its best. Shorter than I remember, though. Another one that is hard against
Not my favorite Bowie album.
Totally fine. I'm not a live album person and the recording sounded awful, which really hurts my experience, maybe unfairly.
Rounding up to a 4, because even though this won't make my regular rotation, Franklin's voice is just that good.
I almost gave this a 2. It honestly was pretty boring for me.
I really dug it. I actually am not sure I've listened to a sonic youth album all the way through before. I loved the grindy noises and shouting.
I had almost no expectations going in and I was pleasantly surprised. I genuinely like this sound and might have to buy this album for my regular rotation
If it weren't for the vocals this would be a 4
Two okay songs and one was a chuck berry cover...
Honestly grew on me. I'm surprised how much I liked this one
Not bad, I like psych rock but I'm not sure I would keep listening to this on my own.
I really enjoyed this. Especially as background while I filed my taxes today.
I might have just needed this calm album this morning, but this one really did it for me.
It's country music which already means I'm going to be grading it poorly unless it really impresses me. It's not actively terrible, but I find so few apects of the genre personally appealing that I had a hard time finishing this album.
3.5
Okay like, the first song is an obvious banger and that's why it was on Stranger Things, but honestly the instrumentals on this are a perfect match for Kate Bush's haunting vocals. I'm very much enjoying this album and adding it to my personal collection.
I love this 90s shit
I feel bad because I know a lot of people who love Bruce, but this album was barely not a 1 for me. It all sounded samey and I couldnt really connect with the lyrics
Honestly I'm surprised how much I enjoyed this one. El Paso is a genuine hit and I found myself humming along with quite a few of these.
I listened to just enough to know this isnt for me. It'd probably be a great live experience though
I havent ever listened to björk and this hasnt inspired me to start
It might have gotten a higher rating if it weren't as vaguely creepy as it was.
Simple and fun. Lots of guitar noises.
Reminds me a bit of The Future of the Left

This album is so ahead of its time it's ridiculous. I have no idea how it sounds like Punk, Beach Rock, and Blues all at the same time. I love the vocals and the horns and everything else about it.
First time I've ever listened to Arctic monkeys. I dig it though.
Some amazing bars and hooks with some terrible themes and content. Easy to see why this is influential but does not age well.
