One of, if not the best, indie album ever. Inspired all my favourite bands and soundtracked my teenage years. Love this album more than some distant family members. Forever grateful to you, Julian Casablancas xx
Bookended by two of the greatest prog rock songs ever.
Listening to this on the day of Trump’s attempted assassination hit different
Loved this album when I first listened to it. Must admit I wasn’t too keen on this on repeat listen, a lot of filler, combined with some of the best post-Beatles songs, takes this album from an average to a good album. “How do you sleep” is still the most underrated song of Lennon’s back catalogue.
A respectable 7/10.
Please reform for the rest of my salad days, mr and mr punk
Enjoyed Freedom (obviously) and the 10 seconds of the stones. Not much else.
Loved the haunting synth atmosphere to this whole album. Superb.
Will die on the hill that “Pop-Punk” is the worst genre of music to exist. Wretched, cringe-worthy, yank trash.
Saying all that, I have a soft spot for Green Day and have enjoyed their music from afar, without every being really invested in the band.
This is the first Green Day album I’ve ever listened to and unsurprisingly, I enjoyed it. It’s fine, nowt special, just fine.
7/10
If marmite was an album.
Kanye’s second best.
9/10
Thank you 1001 for reminding me to listen to this classic again.
Imagine dropping this fucker and then never putting out any music ever again. Queen shit right there 👑
9/10
Objectively a good piece of music but I really could not be any less interested in a Jazz album from 1958.
Better than I expected. Loved some of the riffs. Specifically Le Grange and Waitin’ for the Bus
If there was a “1 album to listen before you die” book, this would be the first and last entry.
10/10
🐐/🐐
Set the blueprint for the Pixies’ iconic sound. Very much the precursor for the masterpiece that is Doolittle.
Bossonova > Surfer Rosa, thoooo
Who needs to understand lyrics to enjoy an album? Not me. Tres bon.
Nonsensical, weird as fuck and proper German. Zer gut.
AC/DC man, a band that’s aged like milk on a radiator.
Starts well but wears thin by the end. *Maybe need a repeat listen*. 5/10.
Lots of big, fun, gay party hits.
7/10
We’re all in agreement that this is a bit shite, right?
*subconsciously banged my head to a few tracks which saves this from being a 1/5.*
3/10
Quite a substantial step down from THE Rolling Stones albums. Meant as no criticism due to the quality of their later bodies of work. Still a formative piece of music for one of the greatest to ever do it.
Dross but not unlistenable
This is why I do this.
What a gem of an album.
We live in a society ahhh album
A dense, layered, multi genre album. It feels disingenuous to give this any kind of rating after one listen.
Probably would take 4/5 listens to really appreciate the complexity of this album.
Bad but probably closer to ‘So bad it’s good’ than ‘bad’ but still quite bad.
It’s a jazz album. Hence the rating.
Annie Lennox - One of the best pop vocalists of all time. Great album.
What the fuck is going on with the diarrhea sounds on the last track
6/10
Enjoyed this fairly formulaic and one note album a lot more than expected
Swept up in the silliness
7/10
Starts off with the sound of a TIE Fighter, which is perhaps a fitting metaphor for this album: starts off fast, strong and sounds cool. Finishes off by crashing and burning in a big fucking mess.
A lot more restrained than their name would have you suggest
3.5/5
Shite but ‘More than feeling’ is a rasper
Certainly best saved for last. The last song is brilliant. Wish I loved the rest of the album as much.
Appreciated this more than I enjoyed it. Will probably benefit from repeat listening.
My ambivalence to Public Enemy continues
A fine, if not quite forgettable album. Digeridoo was cool tho 👍
One of the horniest albums of all time. If you listen close enough, you can hear her ovulating (sorry)
A fantastically creative album from one of the best talents around
I got half way through the second song. Sorry, I find this music unlistenable.
Can you believe this is their weakest album?
Unbelievable band
A fun yet dated record.
The ‘record scratch’ effect, synonymous with 80s Hip Hop, will forever make me feel unwell.
Inoffensive, middle-of-the-road, dad rock.
Just meh.
5/10
