Innervisions
Stevie WonderGreat production. Doesn’t overstay it’s welcome.
Great production. Doesn’t overstay it’s welcome.
Inoffensive but also unremarkable. I’d probably put it on in the background and it wouldn’t distract.
An undeniable talent and a great breakthrough for jazz into pop. But it’s so lyric heavy that the melodies soon start to sound similar. I think I’ll enjoy Back to Black more whenever I get to it.
Like a female Van Morrison for me. My first exposure to Janis Joplin. Sadly her last album.
An important record no doubt but struggled to connect much any of it.
It’s good. But I just can’t listen to Sinatra, Dean Martin anymore. It’s just too simple, no depth.
Decent enough. Missed this when it came out. Seems like the style was a fad in the end and Quaye’s fame was brief.
Love it. It’s like being transported back in time to a Western Movie. I could have this on in the background all day.
Every song sounds the same. The same generic lyrics where Justin talks about seducing whatever girl he sees. Boring. I’ll give it one extra star for it’s decent production.
I will never listen to this album again. What a mess. The recording is like something off a Fisher Price cassette tape recorder.
Solid. Its no What's Goin On but funky.
Kids is a banger obviously. The rest are a little bit soulless…
The first doesn’t mean it deserves a higher score. His next two eclipsed this one so on individual merit this gets 3 stars.
What a voice. And an amazing recording despite being almost 70 years old. It suffers from sounding slightly samey as the album goes on. But enjoyable overall.
It’s a bit too samey and lyric heavy for me. I might give it another shot in the future but this listen was a bit of a struggle.
Only needed one listen to rate this one. I’m not a huge Dylan fan but can appreciate the quality here. Subterranean is a banger alone.
It's OK. The Thom Yorke song was good .
There’s a few rough spots in this one. But it doesn’t matter, it was a seismic moment for a band that was about to become the biggest in the world.
This has not aged well. The famous opening aside the rest is just noise. Pity.
Really great album. Pity I missed it when it first came out.
This was a slog. Music has come a long way since this era. The Deep South twang to this had some charm but the God-fearing lyrics were just too much.
This was a pile of self indulgent shite. Paper Planes was the best of a bad bunch.
This is a fabulous discovery. I saw a review saying he was a mix between McCartney and Lennon and that feels spot on
Pretty boring. I don't really "get" The Rolling Stones
Gonna give this a 4. I didnt think much of Power’s stuff with Cast. But I’d never actually heard this album, just There She Goes. But it’s decent.
What a slog! Beautiful recording but far too long. The songs blurred into each other after a certain point.
Probably in my all time top 10. Didn't even need to listen. A classic.
It gets 2 stars because there are probably only 2 songs I’d listen to again. It’s throwaway pop that is long gone but an important milestone in the direction of music in the late 90s. Glad it’s gone though.
Every single song sounds the same...
It's Radiohead so it's great obviously. But it never really connected with me like some of their other albums. Reckoner is the standout track here, amazing.
Pretty boring. I might try it again in the future.
Le freak and I Want Your Love are obviously well known. The rest are a bit repetitive.
Not sure what to make of Bjork. There's just something so self indulgent there I can't get past. It's definitely an audio experience though. A good one to test the earphones!
Amazing! Where has this been all my life.
I don’t get “punk” if that’s what this is.
Good sound. Solid despite being a bit uneven.
I've never been into Smashing Pumpkins. It's all a bit samey really. Apart from 1979, Tonight Tonight etc. But can't deny how huge an album it was at the time. Too long also.
Me no like
Me no like. His music does absolutely nothing for me.
Bob is ok I guess. This isn’t my favourite of his.
Very catchy Californian pop. Never even heard of them before.
Basically noise.
Good background music. Otherwise unremarkable.
As soon as I heard this I thought “it’s like a wall of sound”. Sure enough, it turns out Springsteen was going for that sound, wanted to mimic Phil Spector. It’s too much for me. The 2nd half of the album was more appealing to me.
A bit crappy.
