Not my usual style, but good soul/r&b album

Not their most innovative, but their most raw. Plus an incredible collection of rock songs. Their best album.

A wonderful album - emotional, poppy, silly/serious.

First time listening to it in full. Solid prog rock, done really fun bits here and there. I think I missed it by 30 years, I would have loved it in my teenage years.

It’s a masterpiece. Although not my favourite of theirs, you can’t deny the genius. Yes, it’s self indulgent at times, but there’s still a cohesion that will be gone in the next album. A seminal album that packs a lot of emotion and self discovery.

Pure perfection. I still remember hearing it for the first time and being blown away. The simple and catchy hooks, the dumb/profound lyrics infused with biblical references, and of course the interplay of Charles and Kim’s voices.

This is the one where they got into their groove. Not yet the genius of Bakesale but still so many bangers.

This album is incredible. The original alternative rock, zero fucks given.

One of the best debut albums of the mid 2000s.

Excellent album. I know it’s supposed to be one of the early metal albums, but it’s just a really good rock album, with a lot of variety.

Weird choice here - it’s a compilation of hits. Some are great, some are ok. I guess I’m not so much into the hives as I used to.

Incredible and influential album

First time I heard smells like teen spirit, I thought it was too loud. Cut to listening to this album on repeat. This has been one of the biggest influences on my musical taste.

Electronic music won’t exist without this album. The Model is the first electro pop song. The Robots and Man Machine are genius. A must listen.

This brings back so many memories. I remember watching it live on tv, it was so different from anything I’ve heard from nirvana then. Kurt didn’t care to play the hits, he wanted to expose people to artists he loved, and have fun.

Perfect from start to finish

Even the worst Bowie album is better than most others. And this is one of his best. What an achievement. Every song is incredible, every song is so different yet they all add up to this story of a world on the verge of apocalypse and the alien who comes to save them and is rejected by humanity. “To be played at maximum volume”

Another perfect Bowie. Life on Mars and Queen Bitch alone are worth a perfect score.

Still fresh 50 years later. These are essentially 50s sugary pop songs with distorted guitars. The invention of punk as an ethos.

What a gem. Firing on all cylinders, using the guitar to make every sound possible. Feels like a concept album workout being a concept album.
